  1. And different states, too!!!! :D

I am from New Orleans and I have sailed out of N.O. several times and I absolutely love it. The Mississippi River is amazing. It takes about 9 hours to get to the Gulf of Mexico.

The port is in the heart of the city & is about 17 miles (driving) from the airport, so you really cannot compare to Galveston since most people fly to Houston to sail out of Galveston.

There is quite a bit of information in the New Orleans section, too, on Cruise Critic under Ports of Call. New Orleans is both a departure port and a port. We were just a stop on an around the world cruise earlier this month. I highly recommend the WWII museum. If you have children, I recommend both the Audubon Aquarium (next door to the port) and the Audubon Zoo. The LA. Children's Museum is also very good for kids under 12 or so (although my adult son would be happy to still go). There are excellent restaurant everywhere. I recommend www.nomenu.com for reviews.

Easter is on April 1 in 2018. There are Easter parades in the French Quarter - I think they start in the morning.

Thank you!! Full of useful info!! I'm pretty excited now.

  2. If you rent from Enterprise you would return it to the Enterprise location in the Hilton Marina on 17th Street and they will shuttle you to the pier. Easy peasy!

Once you get your luggage, pick up the car you can head out and stop for dinner, then go to the hotel. Let us know what you would like for dinner and we'll give you plenty of suggestions.

You're so helpful thank you. I. Still hesitant on renting a car, in my experience it's never that easy. Lol gosh I'm so mad at myself

  3. If you started by taxiing to Marigot then taxi to the Butterfly farm you could walk the 1/4 mile or so over to Le Galion beach before taking a taxi back to port. You would get in the beach stop without losing time or paying for an extra taxi trip. You could do the Butterfly/beach first but keep in mind that many stores in Marigot close for the early afternoon and open back up at 3/4 pm.

Thanks I didn't know that about marigot.

  4. I've booked the Butterfly Farm and Shopping in Marigot for my St. Maarten day port stop, but my tour gets back at noon and the ship doesn't leave til 5. Any ideas of what else I can do?

Note that I like to do different things at each stop and I already have a dolphin interaction booked for my stop in Nassau and a beach day planned for St. Thomas (though I'm still debating between Magen's Bay or Sapphire Beach), followed by a sunset cruise on a catamaran. I also don't like snorkeling.

May I ask who you are booked with?
