I'm Booked On Carnival Splendor, But I'm Seriously Thinking About Switching!!!!!
I Usually Sail Solo, On Msc, YOU Don't Pay A 200% Supplement, It's 150%, And GET THIS...... Deposits Are Only $100.00 p/p!!!
Yes.... You Have Read Correctly, $100.00!!!!!
The Divina Is A Modern Ship, (Built In 2012) And From The Pictures I Saw Of Her She Is A Beauty, Simply Amazing!!!
This Line Has Great Potenial, For Solo Cruisers Like Myself, Who Is Getting Tired Of Paying The 200% Supplement!!!!
Carnival Pay Attention, You Have Some Serious Competion, With Msc, Now In It's First American, Year Round Port In Miama!!!!!
You are comparing a dime a dozen cruise ship out of Florida versus a limited amount of ships crusing out of New York.
Carnival has some ships that have the 100% Single Supplement that also depart from Florida, but on premium ships like the Splendor and anything out of New York or New Jersey, you'll pay the premium 200% Supplement and double deposit.

Did they get rid of the Burn the Floor show in the Breakaway? We sail on Sunday and it Isn't showing up as something we can pre book! Ahhhhh!
Pre-bookings must be sold out. Book as soon as you get in your room using the TV. Do not wait a few days, the shows sell out quickly! Also, book the comedian/magician (can't pre-book that).

We LOVED Roatan too! :D
My favorite itinerary was Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Grand Cayman!

Well, thank you everybody for your helpful advice! I just got off the phone with a Norwegian representative and she upgraded me to an assigned OK category cabin on deck 8. The website does say that category is guarantee only, so maybe I just got lucky? Either way, so happy I checked it out.
Way to go! Enjoy your cruise!

I can report that the bioluminescence is BACK ON. Tours are going out as of tonight.
I hope so! Keep us posted!

I read somewhere yesterday that the Bio Bay in San Juan went dark. There are some scientists there that don't have a clue as to why.......
I'm shocked!

Good for you for booking on your own!!
I'd recommend the Liberty - you get an additional port and it's a great itinerary. San Juan would be the best place to do a tour and the rest you could do beaches. It's very easy and economical to do beaches on your own at these ports. Your boys would probably get a kick out of Maho Beach in St. Maarten (where the planes land and depart very close to the beach). They would definitely love Grand Turk - beach right where the boat docks and there's a Margaritaville pool with a flow rider machine they can have fun with.
I agree! Book the Liberty, if you want beaches the itinerary has some of the best! On St. Maarten, take a taxi over to Maho Beach, grab a lounge chair and watch the planes fly in. My DD who is well into her teens had such a great time there and has since begged me to book a land vacation so she can hang out on the beach at Maho! :)

After 4 weeks of no stop at GSC they finally made it....lucky them...I was week 4 ( last week :( ), even if I enjoyed being 2 days in Nassau I would have loved to have a beautiful beach day :p
Me too. We didn't make it to GSC, my only beach day. I never made it to the beach the entire week. :(

$99 is cheaper than getting a day pass...how can NCL do it for less?
And there seems to be plenty available. At the last minute, DD wanted to join a friend and her family that she met earlier on the cruise and go to Aqua Adventure with them. So at 8:30 that morning I was able to purchase her a ticket - so, I'm guessing it's highly unlikely it sells out.

We're booked on Liberty for next May. We were on her this past Sept and she is my favorite ship!!! Great crew, great food options and even the tenders were well organized.
We originally booked Conquest for next May but then DD decided she wanted to see Mayan ruins AND either cave tubing or snorkeling in Belize. Since conquest did Caymans and Liberty Costa maya, changed to Liberty.
I agree that Liberty's itineraries are great. She does southern, eastern and exotic western in one month. I just wish I could do a back to back.
We loved the exotic western, although I've never been to Costa Maya but the ruins in Belize are stunning and you are able to walk up and around them!
-
We read that it gives you more time at the waterpark.
Which is why I was curious and asked.
Aqua Adventure doesn't open up until 10:00am, I'm guessing the pools open up earlier??
The free shuttles started leaving the dock about 9:00 or 9:15am. Like I said, the last shuttle back to the ship is at 5:00pm, and 5:30pm was all aboard, and 6:00pm was sail away.
Anyway, it's $4 per person to take a taxi there if you want to arrive before the slides open and before the Carnival shuttles start at 9:00 a.m.

I am booked on the Liberty in March for the Eastern Carribean. It seems to bounce all around between western, eastern, and occasionally the southern Caribbean.
I saw that, what a great ship and itinerary to do a b2b2b! :D
-
My daughter did this recently but she took Carnival's transport. They had transportation available in the morning and then starting about 1:00 pm and every 1/2 hour until 5:00 pm was transport back to the ship.
Why spend money on a taxi?

If this seating works like it does on trains, they would have been asked to move to accommodate you had you asked (and you are within your rights to ask).
I was not in a position to ask these people to drop their fork and move. You would think, since we walked by and looked at them that they would have gladly given up the table to a valid user, but no, they pretended they didn't see my dad in a wheelchair.
The purpose of these tables is to push the wheelchair to the table and back out without disturbing any other tables. As it was, we had to ask people to get up from their tables and we had to stop and move empty chairs and push other tables aside just to find a regular table. There are booths along the wall but 5 people and wheelchair don't fit in a booth comfortably. In hindsight I should have asked them to move, but I was trying to not cause a stir and didn't realize that we ended up having to ask other people to move to get by to an available table.
We experience a lot of problems like this on the Breakaway. Muster station was a nightmare, people literally jumping over my dad's feet in the wheelchair to get to the elevator or get ahead of us. The hallways are so narrow that JUST the wheelchair can get through, but because of where his HC cabin was, every day and night we had to move the utility carts and vacuum cleaners out of the way. Headliners was a joke, there was NO wheelchair area so my dad had to sit in the aisle and just listen, couldn't see a thing. Just a nightmare for wheelchair users on the Breakaway.
-
In some cases people are reporting back that it is doable! Please bear in mind that the OP is asking about the Breakaway which, from what I heard, have smaller cabins than the other ships you may have sailed on.
I heard complaints from people around the ship that the interiors are VERY small, I cannot image 4 people occupying the same space.
Maybe someone who has sailing a standard cabin with 4 people including kids on the BREAKAWAY can give you better insight.

There is no seafood buffet, but there is lobster night in the buffet. Also, there are no tables that are wheelchair only. There are some handicap accessible tables that are available to everyone when the buffet is busy. Any venue on the ship is difficult to navigate with a wheelchair when it is busy or crowded. Most recommend you go to any venue early or late for easier navigation.
There were tables with big blue signs that had a visual of a wheelchair, where a family was sitting. We had to move chairs and tables and have people get up from their dinner in order to get to an available table, since the wheelchair only table was being occupied by people who decided to just plop down. Those people sitting at the WHEELCHAIR ONLY table, which had easy access in and out of the buffet area were in the wrong. We arrived at 7:00 p.m., well after the rush and it was still a crazy zoo up in the buffet area.

IMO the perks Carnival offers for suites isn't worth the extra $$$. You might be just as happy with a regular balcony room.
I agree, don't waste your money on a suite. You can book an aft-wrap and get a big room and even bigger balcony for a lot less money.
If Carnival upped their suite perks, then it would be worth it. I had the opportunity to upgrade to a suite but decided to stay in our aft-wrap. We are also balcony people and enjoy a large room and balcony. For the price, Carnival can keep priority embarkment and a tub. :p
-
We also went around 7:00 p.m. with my dad in a wheelchair. It was the only time we ever ventured into the buffet. The buffet area is not wheelchair friendly and there were people (non-wheelchair bound) sitting at the tables for wheelchair only passengers, which made it even more stressful to maneuver the manual wheelchair to an available table. Basically, we found the table and brought Dad the lobster from the buffet. The buffet area is not a place for wheelchair passengers to walk around and look at other items because no one gets out of the way to let a wheelchair passenger get a look.
If you want really good lobster, better off dong the upcharge at Le Bistro and having a sit down meal. The lobster in the buffet on the Breakaway was a joke, definitely NOT worth the struggle and hassle. I didn't notice any other seafood offerings that were interesting.

The Liberty is doing exotic western's from Port Canaveral?
-
Carnival severed it's ties with Baltimore and is moving the Pride to Tampa.
Carnival says it’s leaving because all oceangoing vessels, including cruise ships, have to meet new international standards to burn cleaner, low sulfur fuel by 2015 within 200 miles of the Canadian coasts.
Carnival says it is possible to retrofit some of these ships with scrubbers. They will reduce sulfur emissions. However, that’s an economic cost Carnival apparently isn’t prepared to make at this time.

" few aboard knew about the incidents in Port Canaveral". Can you specified what incidents we had in FL.
November 5
Norwegian Breakaway
Norwegian Cruise Line
News 13 (Port Canaveral) reports Fire Rescue is responding to two injuries on board the ship, which docked Tuesday at Port Canaveral. Officials at the port said a crewmember on board the ship was hurt after something fell and hit him on the head. Brevard Fire Rescue said the man had a reported neck injury.
In a separate incident, a passenger on the ship, said to be a woman in her 70s, slipped and fell, suffering a fracture. The woman was said to be in stable condition, fire officials said.

The Breakaway cabins are just too small. We had 3 in balcony cabin and it was very tight. I had to stand on the bed to reach the closet.
EDIT TO ADD: I don't even think there's enough closet/drawer space for a 4th person's belongings.
