  1. We have travelled on Island and Coral before and had a big balcony - part covered. Was it Caribe deck?

Princess seem to have changed their pricing structure and they appear to now be premium cabins?

Can anyone confirm this who have been recently?

We like these ships as they have a dressing room and a lot of space.

Are there any other balcony cabins worth looking at which are close to the rear pool

    Thanks

Yes, the Caribe balconies are larger.

  2. On our Panama Canal transit we were all gathered in the Atrium for the Balloon Drop and Dance Party. My husband and I were on Deck 7 looking at the festivities below on Deck 5. We were at the railing just to the left of where the band was playing. The CD was doing his CD thing and we were throwing streamers and having a great time. Suddenly a man collapsed in front of the band. The CD asked everyone to move away to give the man room. We were wondering why no one was helping the man and suddenly he began to turn blue. A passenger rushed to him and began CPR. My husband and I left and went back to our room sure that the man had died. Neither of us got much sleep...it really was an awful experience. The next day the CD made an announcement that the man had survived (the man actually apologized for ruining the balloon drop :D) and that evening the crew would be recognizing the passenger who had performed CPR as he had saved the man's life. Remarkable!

OP, thanks for your quick response...I can only hope if I am in the same situation someone like you is around.

  3. The patch stays in your blood stream for up to three days after you remove it and is the same drugs as the OTC stuff and I am hoping I will need no drugs. I am wondering how likely I am to need anything based on other peoples experiences.

My husband doesn't want to take any chances so he takes the meclizine (I forgot to mention that he starts it a day before our trips). He has tried the patch and it didn't work. You may be fine on the ship but don't forget about excursions.

  4. My husband swears by meclizine. We get a prescription from our doctor before every trip we take (by water, car or air). He takes two a day (one before bed and one with breakfast). He used to get motion sickness if he wasn't driving a car but now not only can he be a passenger but he can also look at a map! It is amazing. I know drug stores sell Bonine (the generic equivalent) but we find that we save quite a bit of money by filling the prescription. Oh, I forgot to mention...no sleepiness!

I hope you enjoy your cruise!

  5. We have never stayed in this room but since no one has responded I will jump in and offer this. We have stayed near the elevators (right across the hallway) in the past with no noise issues either from the elevators or from passengers getting on and off the elevators but I have seen posts where people have said that in very rough seas they can hear the elevators rattling/banging around. I see there is a blank space on the deck plan between your room and the elevators. Not sure if this is for elevator equipment or for some other purpose. That might make a difference.

If I were in your position I probably would check to see if one of the rooms in that section (716 through 733) was still available and ask to switch to one of them just to be on the safe side. If that's not possible I would stay where you are. You should be fine.

Thank you so much, I think I will try and move just to be on the safe side.:D

  6. There used to be a place where you could specify what fruit you wanted in your stateroom and what kind of soda in the fridge, etc. Did they do away with that or have I just not stumbled upon it yet?

    I haven't found it either...

  7. Congrats, we are doing the same cruise in Sept. Our first everything!

You will love Princess, Alaska and cruising! Our first cruise was a 7 day Southbound Inside Passage...now DH won't do any less than 10 days. We recently booked a 20 day (B2B) Caribbean for February. You've been warned!

  8. Hi Everyone, well, I'm back from my 3 days in Miami Beach and 4 on the high seas on my Monsters of Rock cruise. I'll be giving a mini-review in a day or so but for right now I'm pleased to say that when I went back to my meetings I only gained 8/10 of a pound. A lighter top would have put me even-steven! we just "rocked" the calories off those 4 days and nights!

Congratulations! That is an amazing feat! :D

  9. Hi all! My name is Janice and I just started WW on Sunday (doing it online only). I had lost 52 pounds in 2010 and was very happy! Unfortunately I had complications from a double mastectomy and I've gained 35 of it back :(

My husband and I are planning a Caribbean cruise in Feb of 15 so I am working to lose the weight again before then.

  10. We went the end of May a few years ago and the weather was gorgeous. As Pam said, layers is the best idea but make sure you take shorts :) My DH was so upset he didn't take any :D. We were sunburned on the back deck of Caribe while doing scenic cruising through Glacier Bay on Memorial Day!

  11. I have C329 on the Royal in September. On our October cruise, I met some new friends who had this cabin. They said that the only noise was a constant "white noise" from the air vent in back of the cabin. Since it was a constant sound, it didn't bother them. My sister had M525 on our October cruise and the banging and noise from the Horizon Court started early in the morning and went until late at night. I was down the hall in a balcony cabin and the noise from above started at 3am... it was awful.

    Hi Pam,

My husband and I are planning a cruise on the Royal for next year. We have never stayed in an inside and are wondering if there are plenty of public spaces to sit/watch the view on the Royal. We aren't necessarily loungers but we do enjoy watching out for wildlife.

    Thank you,

  12. My wonderful wife can't swim.

To snorkel, we purchased an inflatable life vest (bright yellow for visibility) and she wears it every time she's in the water. When deflated, it is flat and fits nicely in the bottom of her luggage. When inflated, it keeps her afloat and can enjoy snorkeling.

When the ocean is rough, we have a "leash" connected to each other to prevent her from floating away. We always bring our own snorkel equipment but leave the fins at home. (It may be a lot of fun to have someone capture your first snorkeling adventure with an underwater camera.) Have fun and happy sailing. :)

Hi Bonsai3s. Can you give me more information about your "leash"? That sounds like what I have been looking for but unable to find. Thanks! Janice

  13. Check out this website for balcony info:

The closest we've been is C425 where there was very little motion. My husband suffers from motion sickness and for our cruises he takes Meclizine (prescription), aka Bonine. He starts it a couple of days before we fly and then takes two every day (morning and evening). He supplements with Ginger tablets (also taken twice a day). He swears by this and has had no problems with air/sea sickness. We had a mini-suite on our Alaskan cruise and enjoyed our balcony but we were bundled up :D Enjoy your cruise!
