  1. If you book the Steakhouse on the first evening of the cruise, you are sure it won't be at the same time as the Chef's Table. Otherwise, after you board; once you know the day of your Chef's Table...head over to the Steakhouse right away to make your reservation. There should still be plenty of slots to choose from.

  2. There are 2 dining rooms on Breeze.

Midship is Sapphire, one side of which has glass windows looking out onto a hallway. I "think" it is only on 1 level (can't remember for sure).

EDIT: I just checked the deck plan, Sapphire is also 2 levels.

Aft is Blush and is two-levels.

Sorry about YTD, they didn't have that when we were on her back in '12.

  3. Yes that is what I meant' date=' but wondering about the exchange rate being better ahead of time -I read that somewhere a few months ago.[/quote']

Cruise Cash can be purchased ahead of time yes, but it is all US dollars...so the exchange rate would be whatever your Credit Card rate is. If the rate would be really low now and the cruise would be 1 year away I might do it...but if you are cruising in a few months I don't think the Exchange Rate will change very much in the meantime...so I'd just give my credit card for my onboard expenses as usual.

    :)

  4. Not a good idea , try lido deck.

OP is asking about "Cove Balconies". Those are only on deck 2.

OP: As far forward as possible. Stay away from under the galley. Under restaurant is OK, but you might hear a few bumps or thuds when they move the chairs around to vacuum the carpets. Typically used to happen around 11pm to 12am when we had a CB on Breeze.

    :)

  5. We were in G-T last February w/Sunshine...and I gotta say, it is a great beach...but...I also did see lots of debris (including broken glass) in the sand.

We walked from the pier all the way to Jack's Shack and back. Found a quieter spot about halfway and laid out our beach towels. Afterwards we went on an ATV ride that lasted a couple of hours with a local who had a sign out. They were very nice, The bikes ran well, and they were negociable on the price.

  6. I've spent a few nights at the Embassy Suites.

    - Location is very close to Old Montreal (walking distance).

    - Underground parking garage (extra $$$).

    - Subway access across the street.

    - Pretty close to downtown.

    - The room are very comfortable.

    - Free breakfast.

You have to watch the prices though...I've seen it for as little as $129, and as high as $189+.

  7. We did the Baltics in 2013 aboard CCL Legend.

St-Petersburg is a must-see Port-of-Call. Usually a 2 day stop, overnight on the ship. You will need to purchase your Excursion from the cruise line, or use can use a local provider like Alla Tours (which is what we did).

The tour provider (either the cruise line or the local operator) will take care of getting you in/out of Russian Customs & Immigration.

We also called on (and loved)

    • Helsinki (easy to DIY)

    • Copenhagen (easy to DIY)

    • Talinn (easy to DIY)

    • Amsterdam (hired a local bicycle tour guide, fantastic !)

    • Berlin (via port of Warnemunde. Alla Tours was our provider here as well).

Ask away if you have any questions !

    :)

  8. Excellent Review Jimbo !

    My thoughts on the ship:

    - Crew were outstanding.

    - Shower is bigger than the newer ships, for a big guy like me this was a real treat.

    - Agree the show lounge is a little odd, and too small.

    - Production shows were very good, and varied. Lots of talent on board.

    - CD Donkey was so/so.

    - Debarkation in St-Maarten was absolutley horrific. making everybody try to wind their way thru the corridors on deck 1 before going down to deck 0 was a disaster.

    - JiJi / Havana / Cucina area at back of Lido deck is a gem. Much better to sit there than on Lido.

    - Would have liked to have Sign/Sail info available on in-cabin TV like other ships.

    - Itinerary was fantastic. We had never been to any of these ports, and we enjoyed them all.

    - Live music offerings could be better timed we thought, especially late afternoon before the production shows...there were times when lots of people milling about Ocean Plaza but no entertainement.

    - Embarkation and Debarkation at Port Canaveral rate AAA+++

    - Steak House and Cucuina for Dinner were Excellent.

    - Food in the MDR was very good. Only a few gripes at our table of 12...basically just some nitpicking. Of note, the Lobster tails were very fresh and perfectly cooked (I had 2 servings).

    - Mattresses in the cabins are starting to show thier age...ours were a little on the saggy side and had lost thier "plumpness".

This was a very enjoyable cruise !

    :D

  9. We did Alaska on CCL Spirit.

Temps on the ship were fine. My wife always brought a shawl to put over her shoulders on elegant nights.

The wind will be chilly out on open decks as the ship is moving...even if it's a warm sunny day...bear that in mind as you sail towards the glaciers...a warm hat and gloves are not out of the question if you plan on staying outside the whole time your are cruising the glaciers...

Early mornings are chilly as well...but they are the best time to do some whale spotting as the ship sails thru Frederick Sound...we saw hundreds of them...as well as Purpoises.

  10. For the person that asked earlier, our cabin was 9164. Excellent location, and quiet.

The cabin did have some of the infamous Sunshine "sewer gas" odor (only in the bathroom). During one of the first port days, technicians worked on the ventilation system and the odor wasn't as bad afterwards. I think the ventilation system needs frequent cleaning on this ship.

We arrived at the port quite late this time, around 12:30pm. We had F2F so we were checked in and on board in about 15 minutes !

We flew into FLL (Fort Lauderdale) the evening before, and spent the night at the Hampton Inn in Fort Pierce. Unfortunately, our flight down got delayed by over 2 hours...so we ended up checking into the hotel past 3am...so we slept in a little later.
