  1. The live music on Royal cannot be beat. Everywhere you go there are live bands and orchestras.

The Broadway production shows - Mamma Mia/Grease/Cats/Hairspray etc. are not just typical cruise ship production shows. These are full length legit Broadway shows. When Cats was installed on Oasis, Andrew Lloyd Webber came onboard to inspect it and make sure that it was exactly the same as his land based shows. Many of the shows have had cast from London West End in them.

  2. You will get nothing. RCI can change ports at will for whatever reason they want. An upgrade? Seriously? You think offering you a many hundred dollar cabin upgrade would be acceptable? Sorry, you either accept the ports they are going to now or you cancel and rebook a year or two from now when port stops might be more stable.

  3. While they often let a child "age up" to go from the 3-5 into the 6-8 or other group, I don't think that there is any accomodation at all for a child who is not 3 by the first day of the cruise. I believe this is for insurance purposes and they are very strict about this. So no, I don't think you have any chance at all that your daughter will be allowed in Adventure Ocean. She will have to stay in the nursery and you will have to pay by the hour for her to be there.

  4. When we did our 16 night TransAtlantic cruise I ordered an inexpensive foam mattress topper from Amazon. Cost me around $50. I put the box with it in a small duffle bag and checked it in as luggage. That couple of inches of memory foam made all the difference in the world. At the end of the cruise we just left it on the bed. Not sure if they threw it out, left it there or the cabin stewart kept it, but when we cruised a year later in the same cabin it was gone. No way was I going to be uncomfortable and have a sore back for 16 nights! Worth every penny!

Or because of the length of time for this cruise AND the financial obligation that RCL passengers are making to do this, perhaps they could hire a few teachers, elementary, middle and high school levels.  I mean this sincerely, they could definitely do it and I think it would work.

Sorry, but do you really think that the 99% of the passengers who are NOT travelling with school age children would want to see their cruise fares go up to pay the salaries for these teachers?

  6. If we couldn't get wifi then we would have to cruise less. On a cruise my husband is up working every morning from about 6AM to 9AM on weekdays from the Viking Crown Lounge! He takes meetings all over the world and is able to deduct that time off of his used vacation days. I am able to wifi call my 88 year old mother-in-law everyday like I do from home and she loves that. Different strokes for different folks, but we love our wifi.

  7. We are on the 5 night Mariner cruise out of Port Canaveral just before Thanksgiving. We were supposed to go to Labadee and Nassau. With the political unrest and now the horrible earthquake in Labadee, I am guessing that port will not happen. Do you think RCI will only take us to Nassau on a five night cruise? It would be awesome if they added in CoCo Cay, but it looks like it is pretty busy that week. Personally we will be happy just floating around in the ocean at this point!

    Any thoughts?

  8. I just completed the check in for our November cruise. Is it strange that the only check in time option was 3pm? I completed the check in process in the first 15 minutes the check in window was open for us. I wonder why there we no choices of times - just the 3pm slot I had to take. Am I missing something here? I understand they have to stagger everyone for health checks, but I thought that by starting our process at 12:15AM I would have had an earlier time. Just wondering.

You only have to wait 28 days.  The four months thing was because they were trying to get more people with one dose quicker. Now that we have hit our initial target, the last month has been 28 days.

Yes, that is how it is NOW, but for millions of Canadians who were at the front of the line, THEIR two doses were months apart. I will be honest and say that we have concerns for our Mom that she is fully protected.

  10. Has there been any mention of RCI extending the time frame that FCC can be used? They are good until the end of Sept. 2022 now, but that would be a LOT of cruises they will have to fit in to a limited number of ships sailing. A RCI agent recently told our friends that they had heard that an extension was coming soon. Ourusualbeach have you heard anything?

  11. I look at it this way. These are Royal's ships, and THEY get to set the rules. If they feel that out of an abundance of caution everyone must be masked in certain venues irregardless of vaccine status, then those are the rules that passengers must agree to abide by. WE don't get to decide which rules make sense and which ones do not. If we don't like the rules, then we should not be on the cruise. It is not appropriate to go on the cruise knowing we cannot abide by their rules and expecting RCI to make exceptions for you. Once you step on that ship it is not a democracy where your opinion will be asked about how to run the cruise. It is 'their way or the highway' so live with it or spend your money in a venue that you like better.

I don't think so.  I think the smaller ships will be the last ones to start

There is a similar cruise on Radiance of the Seas leaving Miami on the same date - Nov. 12/21. Do you think that would be a safer bet? We really want to cruise that specific week for work reasons, and the double points are a bonus. Thank you for your help.

I think that is one that could be in doubt.  There are 2 ships scheduled out of San Juan and the other one is Voyager.  I don't see them having 2 ships sailing from San Juan for a while.  They just cancelled Vision's Bermuda sailings and I am guessing that any crew that had made there way on board have been transferred to other ships for now.  Being an older, smaller ship with a poor balcony to total cabin ratio isn't doing her any favours

The Vision November 12th. cruise is out of Fort Lauderdale. Does that help her situation for November 12th.?
