Thanks for sharing this. I have the all-included classic package; however, my daughter is only 17 yo. My TA says she will get the classic zero-proof package not premium zero proof. It seems odd because I spent a lot of money for her to only have classic zero proof. Does anyone have experience with this> Curious if I should look into this further with the captain's club, etc  or if it's just their policy?

Just off Solstice w/ my teens there is only 1 zero proof package.

Whoops, my apologies, I did misread your post.  Sorry.

So did you understand it that both ships would be in Asia, but not specifically in Japan (millennium).  Most interested in March/April, which is after your cruise, but any insight appreciated.

No worries! There was no ports specifically mentioned just when I was on MIlle last month and Solstice last week both cruise consultants and all crew kept talking about how exciting it was that both ships were headed to Asia ( lots of crew from Indonesia/Malaysia) after the Alaska season this summer.

  3. This was our first time using Norwegian. Not a good start. The new itinerary really stinks because none of the 10-day cruises are a round trip out of New York. Our original cruise was September 18–28 out of New York. My wife really does not like flying, which is why the round trip was so enticing. Do you believe there is anyway I can get Norwegian to pay, at least partially, for a trip back from Quebec City to New York? I find it unacceptable that I would have to pay all of this extra money to get back to the US.

I'm sorry that you are in this situation. Given NCL's history when they make changes like this there is no way they will pay for 1 penny of anything, they will quote their cruise contract which states they can change, cancel and rearrange ports to their liking. Can you look at Amtrak instead of flying?

Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners,

Norwegian Cruise Line has important information for you regarding Norwegian Gem's 10-Day Canada & New England sailings from New York from September 8, 2018 to October 18, 2018. All guests booked on this sailing need to be aware of this change and travel professionals are asked to forward this information to their clients.

Because of a scheduling change the 10-Day Canada & New England sailings departing on these dates are no longer available. Norwegian is offering guests currently booked and fully deposited on this sailing the following options:

    - Option 1: Move to one of Norwegian Gem's new Canada & New England sailings from September 8, 2018 to October 8, 2018 and your cruise fare will be protected.

    - Option 2: Move to any available sailing in our fleet at the current published fare and your deposit will be applied towards the new sailing date. If you choose this option and are booked in an Inside, Oceanview, Balcony or Mini-Suite a $25 onboard credit will be applied to your onboard account. If you are currently booked in a suite (categories beginning with S or H) you will receive a $50 per stateroom onboard credit. Onboard credits can be used on any expenditure on the ship excluding service charges.

Norwegian will also cover up to $300 maximum per person air change fees. We look forward to hearing from you by January 22, 2018, so that we can modify your reservation. If we don't hear from you by January 22, 2018, your reservation will be cancelled. We are standing by to assist you on our dedicated support line at (877) 461-1160 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm ET Monday through Friday.

Below are the new itineraries for Norwegian Gem sailings between September 8, 2018 and October 18, 2018 for your reference.

  5. I to do not believe this!

It's true. I sail NCL all of the time.

What is the minimum age for purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages?

Passengers must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcohol. With the exception of Alaska and Hawaii itineraries, Norwegian permits young adults to purchase and personally consume wine and beer only while onboard and with the consent of an accompanying parent. Authorization will be given only when the accompanying parent completes the Young Adult Alcoholic Beverage Waiver form. This form can be obtained and completed at the Guest Services Desk upon embarkation of the vessel. However, passengers 18 years of age or older are permitted to consume beer and wine when sailing on round-trip European and Australian voyages without having to complete the Young Adult Alcoholic Beverage Waiver form.

  6. Use both system to advise, just to be shure.

Distance is about 30/35 minutes by taxi, but allow 45 minutes, to be safe.

Taxi fare? About $35.00 plus tip each way for the whole taxi.

Do not forget to try the rum selection

    Have a great day :)

My new itinerary includes a stop here. Would love to go for the day but can't get the webpage to open or find them on Facebook. Is there another way to contact them? Thanks

  7. I'm on this sailing too along with 3 friends. We booked this ( and paid in full but always buy our own insurance) literally days before both hurricanes. We were researching plane tickets but had not bought yet.

We are just watching and waiting to see what happens. Prayers and fingers crossed for all of the people on these islands to get back to some level of normalcy sooner rather than later.

  8. Question:

This might be a little off topic...I have never been on a NCL cruise before and I have heard that the Getaway and the Breakaway are designed the same. Does that mean that the Breakaway is going to have the same issue? I am booked on the breakaway and I think my almost 4 year old can do the bigger slides (since he is really tall) but my almost 2 year old would have to stay in the little section. Just wondering...

The Breakaway slides were roped off last Sept when I was on board. I'm boarding again Sunday and will take note and post here.

  9. Star and Dawn are probably my least favorite ships in the fleet but I have to 100% disagree with going to Roatan and staying inside Mahogany Bay.

This is a made man port with a man made beach right alongside the ship.

Roatan is a beautiful island with beautiful beaches and wonderful things to see and experience especially the snorkeling. If you want to stay inside CCL's compound there is no point in even going to Roatan, you might as well be in Freeport or Nassau in my opinion.
