When is this picture from? I was there in Sept last year and the chairs were the white loungers like on the website picture
-
In May on Epic one person in our party had a shellfish alleged. At 5:45 seating they cooked all food in front of us, but served her before they cooked any shellfish. Second time, was a latter seating. They said since the grill was already used, they would cook her food in the back. She got her food when they just starting cooking everyone else's. So a bit too early.

I also have a shellfish and peanut allergy. This is exactly how they handle it for me. If we are in the 1st seating mine gets cooked before the shellfish goes on. if we have a later seating they cook mine in the back. They do not use peanut oil anywhere on the cruise ship.( I have verified this with multiple F&B managers).
I do travel with Benadryl and 2 epi-pens to be on the safe side.

How did you like that cabin overall? Is the balcony as huge as I have read? We will be in it in July and I am super-excited! Could you see the fireworks well from the balcony? Thanks in advance!
We loved it so much we booked again the day after we got off.
Yes, if you stand at the rail you can see the fireworks no problem.
The balcony was huge, 2 loungers, 2 regular chairs and 2 tables. We ate breakfast out there every morning to watch the sunrise and had cocktails every evening before dinner, just watching the wake.

I can't wait to read what you though about Bermuda :D

Stayed in 9318 last year. No noise or vibration. The only time I have experienced noise and/or vibration in an aft cabin was cruising down the Mississippi on the Spirit.

We just booked a 4-hour whaler rental at Somerset Rentals for
July 13th. We would still like to rent a kayak or paddle board
at the Dockyard, for another day, for a couple of hours. Other than
at Snorkel Beach, anyone know of a place to rent them?
thanks
Not at Dockyard but less than 10-15min away we used this last Sept and had a very nice time.
We were going to take the little train over but it wasn't working so the owner of Oleander Cycles gave us a ride.
It's at Daniels Head Beach, we'll probably do it again this year.

When you say retail, you mean a store not a restaurant, right? Isn't restaurant wine markup typically 2X-3X?
Right, a store. That's my point about why my husband carries his own wines on board. So if we bought the Overture at home for say $140 then paid the $15 to carry it on board we are still $100 ahead of the game!!!
My husband brings on what he likes to drink and even with the $15 charge we are still ahead and he's drinking what he enjoys.
-
Thank you.
I was surprised to find Opus One Overture on the list. My recollection is that it was only available at the winery. I'm pretty sure my son brought me back a bottle when he toured the winery.
Overture is made from the grapes that don't meet the standards for Opus One. Around here it retails for about $130-$140 so NCL has some nerve selling it for $255!!!!
-
I was hoping that the higher end restaurants would have some higher end wines!
Keep hoping!!! If you like higher end wines you'll have to bring your own on board, which is what we do. NCL's wine list is pretty terrible when it comes to decent wine.

Thanks for the info. I thought I had done all of my research and had everything figured out! The KS website shows on one page that they rent from the Dockyard and another page says they don't. Apparently all of their Whaler's are now at the Hamilton Princess Hotel. That is a fine location and easy to get to but now I think I will just rent from Sommerset or H20.
we're going to use H2O

Not sure when you are going but we are using KS Watersports for the Whaler rental in August from the Dockyard. .
Are you sure it is KS as I just emailed them and they told me they don't rent whalers from Dockyard you have to go into Hamilton:
We are pleased to provide you with information on the rental of our 16’ Boston Whaler which at this time is available on September 25th from our location at the Hamilton Princess Hotel marina. The Whaler will adequately carry up to six people providing the per person weight does not exceed 185lb. Our location is a 20 minute ferry ride to Hamilton from Dockyard where your ship will be docked, and then a 10 minute walk to the Hamilton Princess Hotel from the ferry terminal. Unfortunately, rental of the boat is not available in Dockyard.
The rental price for the Boston Whaler for a half day (9:30am - 1:30pm) is $195.00, and you would need to be at our location at 9:00am. Please be advised that we have a 24-hour advance cancellation policy.
If you require further information please do not hesitate to contact us either by email or by phone on 441-232-4155.

Thanks for the update. Based on what I've been able to find online, the locals are not happy with what NCL is doing and there has been a temporary halt put on the construction due to damage to the coral reef. At least they can port in Belize City.
It makes me wonder if it will even be open by the time we are supposed to be there in April.

I thought they recently amended it that it only counts if you were there for 24hrs+ if you are there only the day you don't get deferal anyway
The 2014 CDC Yellow Book still says 1 year but I'm trying to find a more current source

Sorry to hear that. We are on the Jade at the end of January 2016 and I was looking forward to seeing what a private island was like. Plus, wanted to sample the UBP while there.
But maybe it will be ready by our port day of Feb. 2 (but probably not).
We did cave tubing and ziplining in Belize City last time, so I think we want to try snorkeling this time. Will look for some good recommendations on private tours.
We used Belize Express Tours in Feb and had an excellent snorkeling experience

Update on status of Harvest Caye:
We are cruising in November, we were scheduled to call at Harvest Caye, just got an email from NCL that we will be calling on Belize City instead. Harvest Caye won't be ready till Feb 2016Sent from my SPH-L720T using Forums mobile app
-
I knew this was the case as locals have been saying it won't be ready but as usual NCL's totally misinformed and always incorrect phone reps have told many is was scheduled for on-time completion.
-
My hope is that we get to go to Belize, when I researched it Harvest Caye looked to be 50 miles from Belize:eek:
.
Harvest Caye is less than 7 miles from Placencia Belize.... which is in the Stann Creek district of the southern part of Belize.
Do you mean 50 miles from the Tourist Village of Belize City??

I can't post pictures here but posted on FB a good map with the route marked for you to see.

Here's the Red Cross list:
Belize Belize City – No deferral.
All other areas outside of Belize City – Not eligible for one year after return.
Caribbean Bahamas – No deferral, except for travel to Great Exuma Island which would make donor ineligible to donate for one year after return.
Dominican Republic – Entire country at risk for malaria except for the cities of Santo Domingo and Santiago.
Grand Cayman – No deferral.
Haiti – Not eligible for one year after return.
Jamaica – No deferal.
Roatan, Honduras – Not eligible for 12 months after return.
Puerto Rico – No deferral.

We used Belize Express Tours in Feb. They were fantastic. There was the driver and a guide plus another girl(helper) who had a wifi hotspot for us to use on the boat. The boat was fairly new, speedy and had a shaded area. They then picked up 2 more local guides when we got the Caye Caulker. There were only about 12 of us on the boat so not crazy and crowded.
Everyone was super friendly and helpful in the water and with my kids. We plan to use them again next year. Afterwards they had tons of fresh fruit, punch and rum punch.

It will be interesting to hear what NCL Corporate has to say about Splash Academy and their policies.
***Not my rodeo. Not my bulls.***
NCL corporate will give their same standard canned response that "this is for our safety, health and convenience"
This is the final nail in the coffin for me with NCL. My kids love Splash Academy and really enjoy interacting with other kids there as part of their vacation. There is NO way I will spend MY hard earned vacation standing in line to get a deli number to then be told the room is at capacity....:mad:
