Jewel was just dry docked in San Fran last year before the Alaska season

EXCELLENT review, great detail and great pictures.
We are making the jump from NCL to RCCL and my kids have been begging for one of the mega ships. We're looking at the Med on Allure.
I'm a super anal/OCD planner too so hopefully there's room for 1 more in the support group! :D

Cheerleaders are entitled to their opinions as much as the constant complainers. An intelligent person reads all and then makes up their own minds.
The cruising experience, (preferences, budgets, etc.), varies. So, it is important to give everyone a voice
That's my point. The cheerleaders have no more right to ask the complainers to stop complaining than the complainers have to ask the cheerleaders to stop cheering....

Please stop the nickel and dime conversation.
The next nickel and dime talk will stop when the blind cheerleading stops

Breakaway in Sept will be my last NCL cruise. I cancelled my 2016 and 2017 already. Looking at RCCL's new ships and the new Carnival Vista

I sent an email a few days ago. Got a call today from Katherine in the Executive office.
She said they are now reading all emails and the complaints and concerns are being sent to Andy Stuart and Frank DelRio.
I asked about the coincidence of the new room service fee coinciding with the no take out and she basically restated "it's for safety and sanitation".
I reiterated I have a special needs son and sometimes its faster or easier to grab something from the buffet and feed him in the peace and quiet of our cabin while we shower after a long day in port.
She said that exceptions can be made on the ship on a case by case basis- but who wants to deal with trying to get that sorted out during my vacation?
She didn't really have anything new or different than their standard canned response. I also said most are up in arms about the lack of communication from NCL and the lack of updates on the website and by the phone reps. She agreed they are working on that.
I told her I'll see how things shake out on my Bermuda cruise and decide then if I will continue with NCL after that or find a company that values me as more than a school child.

It's still in the process of being built. No one has been there yet except the construction teams.
Here's some photos/info from the locals

Del Rio said Norwegian will reinvest $20 million of that money in sales and marketing efforts to drive demand and in improvements to the product on Norwegian Cruise Line ships.
“We do think that the Norwegian brand could improve from where it is today,” he said.
Even without those improvements, he said advance reservations for Norwegian ships are robust, with the booked load factor for 2016 roughly double what it was for 2015 at the same time last year.
“The necessary condition in my view of being able to raise prices and per diems, and therefore yields, is load factor,” Del Rio said. “When you’re as well booked into the future as we are at this point, that bodes very well for constant increases in pricing.”
In a note to investors, Morningstar analyst Jaime Katz noted the strong advance bookings, both for existing Norwegian capacity and for new ships coming to the Norwegian, Oceania and Regent brands.
“All this commentary indicates that close-in inventory should be better positioned this year versus the prior year, alleviating the need to add additional value to the cruising proposition closer in,” she wrote. “Since the Prestige acquisition, we think Norwegian is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the premium market segment, which tends to be more receptive to price increases that are tied to better product, and an improved value proposition.”

Good question.
I and many many others have called, emailed, asked the pop up box on their page, tweeted and posted on their FB page asked for an official statement- no response.
How was the Allure? We're thinking of booking the Med trip in Oct

I love Aerosmith! Seen them in concert 3 times! :D

Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon? :D

No more pool deck BBQ's? What about the hot dog cart on Breakaway? Where can you eat your pastry from Carlo's?
I can't wait to hear how this play out....

There used to be a discount and/or free bottle of wine on the first night. I haven't seen that offered in 2 or 3 years now.

Thanks for the great pictures. I love SF.

Unless you have access to their SOP how do you know if they acted accordingly or not?
Are you saying that you and other bystanders provided medical care to this person?

considering he is speaking as an NCL rep and not just some random person, I would hope that it would have assuaged some fears
NCL reps have more misinformation than most of the posters on this board

I don't know the answer to your question but doesn't it seem crazy that they would close for construction during high season? Too bad, we really enjoyed having tea there!
My parents are staying there on a land vaca right now and when they called to check in they say there is a lot of construction going on. :(

My kids are 9 & 7 so doesn't affect me. NCL has been saying they are going to make an under 3 nursery all the way back to April 2012 when Splash Academy changed the minimum age to 3. I posted about it in my review after talking to the mgr of kids programming on board the Jewel.
Given the way things are going with NCL and the fact that it's been 3 years since they initally spoke of this I wouldn't hold my breath....

The yellow shirted "pool watchers" were on Breakaway last Sept. I asked if they were lifeguards and they said no but they are just there to watch and monitor the pool area.
