  1. My kids are 9 & 7 so doesn't affect me. NCL has been saying they are going to make an under 3 nursery all the way back to April 2012 when Splash Academy changed the minimum age to 3. I posted about it in my review after talking to the mgr of kids programming on board the Jewel.

     

    Given the way things are going with NCL and the fact that it's been 3 years since they initally spoke of this I wouldn't hold my breath....

     

    If the nursery actually comes to fruition, I'll eat crow otherwise I wouldn't bank on it based on the direction NCL is going lately....

    • Asian Noodle restaurant complimentary but reduced menu
    • Hippo Slide on GSC complimentary
    • Fireworks gone
    • UDP is now SDP
    • Room service $7.95 except for a much smaller limited "continental breakfast"
    • Blue Man Group gone
    • Now pay taxes on "free" UBP/SDP
    • No more kids pricing in specialty restaurants
    • Port times shortened on a number of itineraries "for your convenience"
    • No more free Cirque or Illusionarium on first night with dining package

     

    That's all I can think of now...

  3. Time to cancel the overpriced Carlo's cake I had ordered for Friday night's fireworks from my Aft PH. If they feel they cancel things on me left and right, I think it is time to do the same.

     

    You better rethink that as I'm sure ending their relationship w/ Carlo's is next.... "for your convenience" :eek:

    As of 8/1/15 we will no longer offer fireworks on board Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. It’s technically-challenging to execute and takes a very large amount of manpower and we want to ensure we’re focusing the best overall guest experience possible. Thanks!

  5. I received a reply to my email, from the NCL Access Desk. I had informed them of our experience with Philip's allergies not being taken as seriously as they should have. The reply said exactly this:

     

    "Good day.

     

    Thank you for your email.

     

    I will forward it to the department that can assist."

     

    What? Such a cold response without even as much as an "I'm sorry for your trouble"? Maybe I'm asking too much or being too sensitive, but this response just feels cold and callous to me, and very cookie cutter. Not to mention that when they poorly handle food allergies, someone's life is being put at risk, literally. My hope was for another family not to have to go through this, or even worse. And there was a signature at the end so it was actually from an individual person, and not an automated response. Unreal.

     

    I'm bummed about this for you. I also have allergies to shellfish, peanuts and tree nuts. NCL has always handled me better than the other lines I've sailed.

     

    I'm sailing in 7 weeks and this is not good. I'm a nurse and super careful about what I choose to eat on board but if the MDR can't follow the protocol they've had in the past this will not sit well with me.

  6. Since there is no cruise port in Penn how have to arrived at your other cruise ports? Did other cruise lines reimburse you for travel costs?

     

    I drive frequently between CT and Philly and the gas and tolls r/t are less than $100- ask someone to drive you and reimburse them... take Amtrak or Greyhound or drive to NJ and take the train.

  7. I am interested in going on NCL Breakaway June 12-19 to Bermuda from NYC. Here is what I would like to know, what date do summer vacation starts for all schools and colleges? I want to go when everyone is still in school. Does anyone know for certain?

    Nobody could possibly answer that. Some schools get out later than others, snow days and other makeup days etc. My sister and I live in neighboring towns and our kids last day of school was a week apart. We also had 4 snow days tacked on to the end of the year this year. The year of Sandy we had a week tacked onto the end of school... Most colleges end in May

  8. I'm not aware of any cruise line that has ports of call in Cuba.

    Carnival Corps Fathom is going to start calling there next year May 2016 and also Your Cruise Cuba- which I believe is the old Louis Majesty has been going there for about a year for Canada/UK citizens.

  9. I have cruised on several lines before, but this will be my first on Norwegian.

    I don't understand this about keeping a card in a slot to keep the fridge and the air conditioner running???? You have got to be kidding! :eek::confused:

     

    The key slot for power does not apply to the Sun, so no worries

  10. If got no skin in this game, as I wouldn't care if the port times are changed for my cruise. What I don't understand is that NCL knows there are issues, whether it be an IT mistake or actual changes, so why don't they make a statement about it. Mr. Stuart has to know that these issues are getting negative publicity on here and on FB, but still the company remains silent. I'm beginning to think that they are of the mindset that if they don't say anything, it will just go away. If it is an IT issue why not send an email out to all passengers saying there is an issue and it will be fixed in X days. If they are actual changes, again, send an email out to all passengers explaining why the changes had to be made.

     

    In this case, silence is not golden.

     

    This is my biggest gripe since this all started... complete and total radio silence. Why not take a few minutes to give customers a heads up on with all of these changes. It's just simple common courtesy but I guess NCL's corporate team doesn't believe in that?? :eek:
