Have you ever looked at the cost of the Spirit? And furthermore you
aren't even offered free coffee, water is free though. No I will stick
with flying and sit on the edge of my seat, with DH holding me down.
After 47 years of putting up with me he knows exactly what to do,
put me in the window seat so I can't escape.:D:D
-
Thanks a lot.
I really need to be reminded that in 8 weeks it will all be over.
Maybe I can arrange for you bed to be short sheeted.
Now that's just plain mean, short sheeting my bed indeed.:)
Look at it this way, you will be on her for nearly 5 weeks, poor little
me only 2, although I am tempted to book the Golden from Melbourne
to New Zealand in Feb or March next year, still have to face a flight
though no matter what, our bit of water is a pain at times, and I hate
flying.:(:(
-
8 weeks today for us, you will be getting off Gut, as we are getting on.:D:D

I have been amazed at the number of people w have on the RC for our
upcoming pacific cruise on the Diamond, never seen it before and we
have done quite a few 14 night Pacific cruises.:D:D
I don't do FB either, not interested.:)

Thank you gbenjo and gut for the times. We are flying to Sydney the
day before and staying with friends who are also on the cruise.
We are thinking of catching a ferry to Circular Quay, dropping off
luggage and then going to one of the pubs, mind you that could be
interesting as one glass of wine and I am nearly legless these days.:D:D
-
gbenjo can you please tell me how early we can part with our check_in
luggage at the OPT for the Diamond Princess?:D
-
Hi Nelie, if you have a brochure with Sea, Sun or Dawn deck plans look
for a little red dot and that is for 3 or 4. It's a bunk bed. Hope that helps.:D
-
Just ask your cabin steward, they are the waffle robes, then leave them
behind at the end of the cruise.:)
-
For some reason Princess on their round Australia and New Zealand don,t
seem to do Tassie, we have done 2 and neither one came here, it would
have been nice to cruise into Burnie and Hobart, and see them from the
sea.:D -
We may get to meet on the Tas leg then.
We seem to kep cruising back to Tas again and again.
Why not Gut it's the bestest State, a little cool though.:D -
Nope, it's not the alcohol. I've been using a non-alcohol foam sanitiser and I'm still putting on weight.:D
Oh darn that's blown that theory for weight gain, back to the drawing
board, I know it's not what I put in my mouth.:D
-
So that's the problem, it's the alcohol in the sanitizer getting into
the system, wow I've heard everything now.:D:D

On Celebrity Solstice from Honolulu end of next year. Have done the maths... He, (who thinks he must be obeyed) can have the premium package and I will pay as I go. However He can order a bottle of wine for dinner and I will drink it. :p
Like your style.:D:D
-
I use all the perks too. I don't drink much alcohol so DH has a lovely
time with the bar set up but he doesn't get the soft drink.:D:D

Hi everyone,
Let me start by saying that I know that there is a lot of angst on the boards (not so much the Aus boards) in regards to people getting a great deal booking very late, and therefore the very loyal miss out on great deals so this is not meant to rub salt into anyone’s wounds but rather tell my story.
After a late decision to change plans from going to China to deciding on cruising from Canada to Hawaii for my 50th birthday (and seeing my son who is currently living in Banff), on 22 nd September Celebrity Solstice cruise, I have been waiting to book it as it is now only 6 weeks away. Flights have been booked and paid for about 6 weeks ago.
When I first started looking the fare was $2700 aud but included the 123 go offer (for a 2B cabin), however due to changes at work I was unable to book at that time.
After receiving some advice here on the boards, I held off booking and monitored available staterooms;
I had been waiting for the celebrity Tuesday exciting deal to be loaded into the system yesterday. The cruise was advertised as going on sale but unlike all of the other listed cruises for some reason the cruise went up in price yesterday. After a few deep breaths and check of cabin availability, I decided there was nothing I could do but wait it out. I received an email overnight notifying me that in fact my cruise had gone down in price, so at 2.30am last night I booked it!
I originally had thought we would book aqua class but noticed the availability was dropping rapidly but there were still 26 Concierge cabins available, when I logged in aqua was not available but concierge was for $1249 for a guarantee (compared to $2439 for a C3), standard balcony guarantee was $1199 so only $50 more.
I did a quick scan of a few of the major online TA’s and previously had only found $150 OBC as a bonus, for some reason one big TA had free grats so I pounced! (on a 10 night cruise that’s $130 saving). Add the taxes and with free grats, all up $1357 USD (about $1860 aud)
I woke up this morning and the fare is no longer available, so I’m glad I was a crazy woman at 2.30am this morning! By the time I add in the alcohol package I will be about even if I had booked when I originally started looking.
I haven’t booked a guarantee cabin before so I will let you all know when our cabin gets allocated.
Thanks for sharing and well done.:D:D

Oh boy, after reading this thread I'm pleased I only sail on Princess out
of Australia, We may pay a little more in fares and drinks but at least
we know where we are, and we always tip our cabin steward and wait
staff. Our dining staff were so bad on our last cruise though that they
got zilch.:D:D
-
I would imagine that it would be the Sterling Steakhouse, it's the only one
where you pay.:)
-
We don't have auto tipping on the Australian based Princess ships,
it's built into our fares, it seems to work here, we still tip our cabin
steward and wait staff though.
-
w e don't have auto tipping
-
I always order a long black with milk on the side, cannot abide froth
in my coffee, works for me anyway.:D:D
-
Where are the smoking sections on Diamond Princes when sailing
in Australian waters?
-
I enjoy the wandering off into other topics and the witty comments
we get on here.:cool::);)
-
We have to pay $800 plus for the two of us to get to Sydney and return,
no matter what time of the day it is.
-
Wow, what a great thing to happen to you, I hope you enjoyed your
two surprises, I know I would.:):)
YAY!! Diamond has arrived in Sydney..

It's a good idea in theory, but being that tad bit older, I wouldn't be able
to cope with the chairs for a night by morning I would be bent double.
Plus the price in summer is not good, no I will stick with flying and grimly
do my Sudoku.:D:D
