  1. DPreview.com is still live and running. It has been bought by Gear Patrol. https://www.dpreview.com/site-news/8298318614/dpreview-com-looks-forward-to-a-new-chapter-with-gear-patrol
  2. My husband and I will be in Newport at the end of August for our cruise, and we were looking at the Jamestown-Newport hop-on hop-off ferry, which stops at Jamestown Village, Rose Island Lighthouse, Fort Adams, Ann St. Pier, and Perrotti Park. If it's a nice weather day, being out on the bay could be enjoyable. Some of the stops may be of interest for exploration.
  3. I would also caution against thinking that Flights By Celebrity will take care of you in case of a problem. I did a Galapagos cruise with the extension to Machu Picchu with Celebrity last November and booked our flights through Flights By Celebrity because our cruise price included a flight credit (I had to fight with them over the amount of the credit but that's a different story). The night before our flight home from Lima to San Francisco, there was an accident at the Lima airport that shut down the airport since they only have one runway and we were notified via the app that our American Airlines flight was cancelled, along with all other flights that were leaving the next day. We asked our Celebrity tour guide if we should rebook our flight directly with AA or if Flights By Celebrity would take care of it, and he advised us to wait for Celebrity to do it, and told us he would contact Celebrity to see if they would handle the necessary extended hotel stay. In the meantime I was checking in the AA app periodically and noticing that the flight options for us to rebook were rapidly going away. After not hearing back from our tour guide for an hour and noticing that all remaining flights that entire week were no longer available, I finally got through to AA by phone and rebooked us, but by then the first flight out was 3 days later, which wasn't even available to us on the app. We had to pay for the extra hotel nights on our own. Many hours later, we finally got an email from Flights By Celebrity that simply restated the flights we had rebooked ourselves. Had we waited for Celebrity to rebook us, we probably would have had an even longer delay getting home.
  4. I have a similar question/issue but in my case I booked through a travel agency, so I don't have a Celebrity Guest invoice. The booking confirmation from the agency has a "Gift/Amenities Included" section that states we have a beverage package, prepaid gratuities, and wireless Internet package. There is no specific mention of "All Included" even though that's clearly what we got. I can see the beverage package and Internet package in my order history but I don't see any indication anywhere of the prepaid gratuities. I find Celebrity's Web site and app extremely difficult to use and confusing, and sadly lacking in booking details.
  5. Thanks to all! I appreciate all the inputs.
  6. That's interesting. Does every restaurant offer the menus from the other MDRs for you to look at, or do you need to look in the app or someplace else to find what's being offered that night in the other MDRs?
  7. I am booked on Celebrity Edge for a Feb. 2024 cruise and wanted to make reservations for the MDRs. I read somewhere that each of the MDRs has some items on its menu that are specific to that restaurant. Does anyone have any details on what the differences are for the MDRs on the Edge? I like having the same wait staff every night, but if there are specialty items at different restaurants, I may want to move around and try each of the restaurants. Thanks for any information!
  8. If you are over 21 and have the All Included, can you choose to get the Zero Proof package instead of the Classic Package? I don't drink alcohol and would get more benefit from the Zero Proof than the Classic.
  9. You said you booked privately. Did you book directly with Dunedin Railways or with a tour company that provided the transportation to the rail station?
  10. On the flights, I also had the air package and booked through Celebrity. We were able to choose from a number of airlines/flights, and chose a Delta flight to Quito and an American flight back from Lima. Celebrity booked refundable fares so they were more expensive than the less flexible fares that I could have booked on my own, but given the uncertainties of travel if another flare up of COVID were to happen, it seemed wiser to keep things flexible. Regarding travel insurance, it really depends on what aspects are the most important for you. Some things to watch out for include pre-existing conditions, whether you want to be able to cancel for any reason, and whether the insurance is primary vs. secondary (i.e. you pay out of pocket first and the policy covers whatever your regular insurance doesn't, and you file for reimbursement). www.insuremytrip.com and www.travelinsurance.com are just a couple of Web sites that offer comparisons of policies. When I looked, the pricing was the same from any Web site for the same policy.
  11. I'm booked on the Xpedition Southern Loop which includes North Seymour. It looks like they offer 3 options for excursions there: a long walk, a zodiac ride with a short walk, or a scenic zodiac tour along the coast. Which would be the best for seeing lots of wildlife?
