Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Asking for a friend, if one should smell the devil's weed and can find the perpetrator, is it inappropriate to pull up a chair next to the perpetrator and enjoy the second hand smoke? Seems like all benefit no risk....purely hypothetical, of course...
  2. OP only you know what you need out of a vacation to be happy. You know what your non-negotiables to have an enjoyable time are. Some people with a poor experience such as you had would have a hard time not finding faults again. Not saying you would, but some would. If you're willing to give Carnival another go and the itinerary works for you, go for it! We've only cruised with Carnival once but scheduled again for Jan '23. We enjoyed ourselves and I think there are a few reasons. 1) We had low expectations going in mostly due to this forum. We were nervous boarding that we'd made a terrible mistake hearing all the stories. 2) We aren't "joiners" on any cruise line. We like the quiet spots and our balcony the most. Watching the waves, reading, and talking are relaxing to us. We do play in the casino and attended Bingo and a show or two but really try to avoid crowds. We didn't witness any fighting or misbehavior though! 3) We're probably easy-going to a fault. There isn't much that would really impact our vacation. We don't let a bad few minutes ruin a day. We've traveled with friends who get upset about big things and little things, it's just not us. 4) Based on the negative feedback regarding MDR we only ate there one day for sea day brunch (food was fine but I hated sitting on top of the people at the next table). We did Specialty dining every night and ate at other venues open during the day and found the food great. Buffet we used for snacks and found it to be good and plentiful.
  3. We applied gift cards to our S&S via the kiosk onboard as we needed them on the Panorama in Oct 22 and didn't have a problem. We only loaded what we were sure we'd spend so wouldn't have a left over balance.
  4. We ate at Seafood Shack several times while on the Panorama in Oct 22. Of course, it could be because the lines were short or non-existent. I'd selfishly vote to keep it, I get hangry waiting in lines 🙂
  5. We're considering Brightline train FLL to Miami port.
  6. We're sailing on Panorama 10/1 and I'm hoping to see a preview of the room service menu before we go. I appreciate the refresher course in economics in this thread, it's been a while. I think many have brought up reasonable considerations to think about. Impact to food waste, lines in included food venues, even human behavior seem like they can all be true(-ish). I think the one thing we can all agree on is smuggling "is the illegal movement of goods into or out of a country" and likely not the correct word for a decorative tray brought on board a ship. 🤣 sorry, couldn't resist.
  7. I like room service. I occasionally prefer to eat in my cabin enjoying the quiet or watching a movie. I don't always want to sit in a crowded space with strangers. Do I wish room service was still included? yep. Will I order it anyway? Maybe. I may also go to a restaurant and want to bring it back to said room. People who think they should have an opinion about it amaze me. I mean, argue all you want about whether Carnival should charge or not; or whether they should provide trays to make it easier to fetch your own meals and bring them back to the room. Seems fair game. Offering your opinion about how I spend my vacation or where I eat my food, and thinking it matters to me, is something else entirely.
  8. Thanks for the review. We sail Carnival for the first time in a few weeks. We’re pretty easy-going and decided to give it a shot. We’ve sailed Princess and NCL before. Although I’m looking forward to trying Panorama out, some folks takes make me nervous! Haha. I’m sure we’ll be fine (DH considers Olive Garden fancy) and enjoy it. Not big parties but don’t mind those that do. thanks for what appears to be a fair review!
  9. Sorry for your loss, Georgiamom. I haven't cruised over any holiday and looking forward to hearing how Carnival celebrates New Years. I hope your trip is special 🙂
  10. Thanks, Essie. For anyone else in the same boat (pun definitely intended), you can add as long as the room accommodates the number of passengers in the cabin and the ship has capacity. I did call Carnival (pleasantly surprised getting through was very fast without hold time), had I known I would have called and not posted. The rep said we'd need to pay in full (we leave in 40-ish days) and anyone could call, using our PIN and booking number, to set up the additional passenger. The rep also said we could do it online, but I can't seem to figure out how. I have no doubt it is very easy online and I'm just missing the well-labeled button to push. Clearly a PICNIC error (Problem In Chair Not In Computer).
