  1. We went this summer with our 2 late teens and my mom who has limited mobility. We were able to get decent Black Friday sales for the Beach Club and I will say it definitely makes things a lot easier because my mom's toughest walking was over the sand. I'm not sure if she could have done much more than the the first row of chairs from the sidewalk--especially in the heat. So I'd just try to think through the walking on the sand. If you and your son/gs were going to spend most of the day apart anyway with them using the WaterPark, personally I'd think about purchasing the Beach Club passes for you and your husband. Getting to shade, and getting a variety of chairs (my mom started to get uncomfortable on the loungers and so switched to a rocker under the overhang), access to water, bathrooms, etc is just a lot easier--and it's easy to forget that the heat makes things tougher too.
  2. Thank you--so you made sure you were in airplane mode and had ship wifi on and were able to use your phone as though you were at home? Just made sure it said WiFI calling? She's having trouble getting it to go thru but I'll have her try again. Thanks so much!
  3. Thank you both so much. I'm going to text her tonight with the suggestions. She has TMobile so while docked she can prob call a US number without issues, but it was occasionally on the ship that she was attempting. Thank you again!
  4. Has anyone recently been successful using WiFi calling like WhatsApp while using Surf and Stream? I've already posted this on Celebrity board and getting some help, but my mom is currently on the Edge in Europe and has the "included" Surf Wifi and cannot get any phone calls to go through. She expected it to be spotty but not to totally not work. As of last April I was able to use wifi calling on the Anthem with no problems. The advice I'm getting on the Celebrity board is that she'd need the Premium WiFi package in order to use WiFi calling, but I think that is much more expensive than surf and stream--just curious.
  5. Thank you! From looking at her documents, it's listed as "Surf Wifi"--it was included in her bundle of gratuities, WiFi, classic drink package. We have never been on Celebrity, but as of last April, we were able to use WiFi calling on RCCL's Anthem and Oasis class ships with surf and stream. Wonder if they are blocking it now if you don't have the Premium WiFi?
  6. My mom is on the Edge right now and is able to use WhatsApp for texting but the phone calls aren't working at all. She has the included WiFi. Has anyone had any luck calling on WhatsApp or another app? She expected it to be temperamental and sometimes out of reach, but this has been consistent with no calling at all. Thanks!
  7. If you are fully vaccinated, and your 10 plus day cruise from Rome has a stop in Greece, the 3 days before boarding testing requirement is still valid with a proctored antigen test? I am helping someone who is concerned that since her cruise has stops in Greece, that she needs to test 48 hrs before boarding?
  8. Thank you for the reminder! We went in a totally different direction and did Ocean Surfari - Reef Surfari Snorkel Excursions. They met us at the pier, took us to the shop where we boarded the snorkel boat, and then same taxi took us back. I checked ahead of time that there would be no stairs to climb getting onto boat. It was an easy ramp and they let her keep her shoes on while on the boat (soft bottom shoes). She did not snorkel, but had fun on the boat and seeing the scenery---it was lovely. Only downside was the taxi driver was honestly the rudest driver we have ever encountered. Was rude, curt and didn't so much as open a door while we helped my mom into the car. Other than that, it was a great day and we would go again. Oh--one odd thing was that while it was very easy to get onto the boat, at the end, they docked a good distance away from the pier and had a stool on the pier for people to dangle and get onto. It really was the biggest distance we have seen on a boat--quite a few people made remarks. My mom got a bit anxious but we waited until everyone was off and 2 of the young guys on the boat were super sweet and they along with my husband got her comfortable and showed her how to do it--but there was no ramp to get off. We realized that the walking on the sand, especially in the heat, was going to be the toughest challenge, So the boat ride worked out perfectly. As an aside--my mom stayed on the ship for out St Maarten stop because of heat and worry about walking on sand and for our CoCo Cay day, we did the beach club where she was able to sit on both the day beds and the rockers under the fans.
  9. We are choosing this trip because of the itinerary--I watched a few YouTube videos, one being recorded in 2021, and while small (we have really only been on RCCL Oasis and Quantum class), Journey looked very nice and for this itinerary I would not want to be on a big ship anyway. Wish there was more shade but I'll be sure to have my hat and UV coverups! The ship seemed in good condition from the videos I saw and we're excited by the small ship atmosphere for this type of trip.
  10. Thank you! It will be our first very port intensive cruise but I just wanted to double check. Thanks again!
  11. We are considering our first Azamara cruise on Journey. It is a port intensive cruise, but from looking at some YouTube videos of the ship, I didn't see any umbrellas or much natural shade for the pool deck. For those who have sailed on Journey, do you remember pool deck umbrellas by loungers or natural shading? Even the hot tubs seemed not to have a canopy?
  12. Can you only bring food that is packaged? Wondering if it's possible to bring a small amount of local or cheese or something back on board? And I've heard that sometimes they'll allow a bottle of wine back on board and sometimes they keep it until the end of the cruise?
  13. I would like to have a bottle of wine sent to a room on the Edge, hopefully for sail away from Rome. Is it possible to order this? I am NOT on the cruise. Thank you!
  14. It was offered on all the sea days on Symphony a few weeks ago. I was more surprised that the times were so different from years past rather than that the menu had changed. On sea days, the brunch times were typical of a land brunch restaurant which was unusual--if you wanted an earlier breakfast you had to do Solarium, WJ, or Loco Fresh. The times were also a fair amount different each of the sea days so you had to be careful if you were looking mainly for lunch--I think it closed at 1 on at least one of the days.
  15. On Oasis class ships we have had people order off the Giovanni's or Jamies and had it delivered to Chops.
  16. We recently had to do a no show as well and when the new points were added to our account, the single did not receive extra points. I called C&A and was told that if someone becomes a single in a room after the 100% penalty phase, they do not give double points for the single. I asked about appealing it, and was told there was no appeal. Hopefully your situation will be different, but that's what we were told.
  17. I think I had read about a way to do that at the casino on RCCL? With gratuities "included" in fare, and most of tours booked without using it, trying to help someone figure out what to do with it. Drinks are also included and don't think they'll do specialty dining. Just trying to figure out options. Thank you!
  18. We'll be going next week and have been to Sapphire Beach many years ago but didn't really like it and are thinking of trying Magen's Bay. We will have one senior with some mobility issues--mainly just that walking and stairs take extra time. But also not sure how far she can walk across sand. Do the taxis get you fairly close? Is the area to rent a chair very far down the beach? Just trying to get a sense--thank you!
  19. We've completed check in and I keep looking, but I cant find the place to load the vaccine information. Is it on the app? We'll bring the cards with us too but thought it might speed up check in at port if they already had the information. Thanks!
  20. Do you think I'd be better off having myself or Dh moved to his room and then just sleep as we would? Not sure if that would mess up pre-booked purchases or original fares? My hope was that if the 2nd person didnt arrive, DS could just tell room steward he's now a party of one and that would be that. Any advice you'd give? This was super unexpected and we're trying to figure out what to do. Thanks!
  21. Thank you--only thing I am a bit worried about if I bring it to someone's attention on board (to get OBC vs waiting for a refund) is that the remaining person in the room is 2 months shy of 21st birthday and the room is not connected to or across the hall from the rest of us. If I bring it to the attention of guest services on board, might they make the remaining person switch rooms?
  22. We will most likely have 1 person in a 2 person room be a no show--we don't want to officially cancel bc the cruise is only 2 weeks away and there is a small chance the person will be able to come very last minute. Just want to be sure I understand what will happen. When the rest of the party (we have 3 rooms booked together, so 5 of us will be checking in together) checks in, if they ask about the 6th person, we just say they are traveling separately? Then after the cruise, any pre-purchased on board purchases (soda package , coco cay beach club, Chops plus 1) will be refunded to the card used for those purchases? Lastly, after the recorded no show, will the single in the room then earn double points? Thanks!
  23. OP here--THANK YOU so much for all of the advice--I really appreciate all of the feedback. So after finally getting the PDFs from when the 2nd person was added, and going over and over the conversations, I think this was a massive misunderstanding--definitely on the part of the 2 cruisers in understanding the breakdowns and how sales are split within a room, and potentially of the Celebrity agent doing the booking. A 30% of each occupant was applied to one of the cruises when the 2nd person was added, and the other cruise that was outside of final payment was a very low price originally (creating a new booking today on it is much more expensive) and may well have never been eligible at the same lower price. I may still call for them because the first cruise that unfortunately is inside final payment has gone down in price significantly so I may see if they will give any OBC or anything for that, but at the end of the day unfortunately I think the people cruising didn't understand how these sales work and how the savings are distributed between guests. Thank you again!
