I think that the OP is interested in the Oasis on its existing Caribbean cruises. Or maybe he is interested in the Oasis Trans-Atlantic cruises this fall. Anyway, I think we are in agreement that the OP did eventually mention Oasis. But the thread title and all but the very end of the OP applied to a large number of RCI ships. Other people will see the title and come to the thread looking for info they want on what is "Closed while in Port" for whatever RCI ship they will be sailing on. Many, if not most CC threads tend to contain useful information not specifically desired by the OP. Some of us are providing more generalized information since searchers had no way of knowing it was an Oasis question until the end. I have not and am not bashing you for reading the post in its entirety, but I do feel that "I don't know why the other poster had to give a long and convoluted answer" was unnecessarily unfriendly.
Close while in port is exactly why I stopped. I'll be on Grandeur in a week & as of right now, don't plan on leaving while in San Juan & May return early during the other stops.

I see that you and the OP both live in FL, but it was an open-ended question with no specified geography. lifeboatcaptain lives and presumably cruises in Asia, and was filling in what happens there. That information was there if you bothered to look. If there is a non geographically specific question posed, perhaps you could be more polite to people who do in fact provide an answer the question that was asked. It might not be useful to you, but might be useful to others.
Can I get a like button.

We'll be in St. M in about 1 week (sailing out of Baltimore on the 21st - woo hoo:D) with bug repellant - just in case. (I bet it will smell great with our sunblock.)
-
The interior cabins are smaller on RCI (I'm not sure if this generalization is across all classes of ships & I don't recall which one you asked about specifically) than on CCL. (I only book insides.)
-
We took an umbrella stroller on the ship when our son was 2, but barely used it & there isn't much room in the cabin...
-
I don't know about the Mystery Dinner, but Quest (ADULT ONLY) is better seen than described - though you can find some details on CC.
Not unlike many other audience participation games - it depends on the participants.;) & quite possibly their intoxication level.
-
I doubt it.

Thanks. After seeing the menu, I wish that the vegetarian options were also vitality.
I'm willing to have a couple splurge meals, but not all of them.:o
-
Prior to our cruise, my husband used a regular CC to add OBC's to our account. I would think that you could do the same thing with an AMEX Gift Card.
-
I take the stairs 100% of the time to help work off my cruise indulgences.
-
We manage to spend all of our OBC's. Even when we pre-pay our gratuities, pre-pay for excursions & pre-pay (a portion at least) of our lunch at Izumi.
-
We sail in 55 days and I was thinking about booking your excursion now though RCCL. I will have OBC. Do they wait and charge your onboard account or do you have to pay now?
Thanks !!
Pay now. After you make your choices, they ask for a credit card.

Thanks for the link

I know people who book Aft Wrap balconies year(s) in advance to get them... (I take that to mean that it is a sought after location that is well liked by many.)
I find the two lines to be 6 of one 1/2 dozen the other...

Does anyone have a description of the Vegetarian options provided in the MDR on a 10 night cruise?
I've seen asparagus crepe, but did not see how they describe its preparation.

My son was 2 on his first cruise & I remember the wait staff being very accommodating & him being pretty well behaved as well.
He is 5 now & we leave in 7 days - I can't remember the last time that he ate dinner with the family - I'm probably going to have to go against my gut instinct to have our family eat dinner together & look into the Adventure Ocean Dining - at least a couple times. :o
-
I got my Amenity confirmation from RCCL (through my TA) & it looks like I was gifted cash. Thanks again for the responses. Now I know it is there.:)
Do they sell Rolex on RCCL? JK it isn't that big of a gift.;)
-
and please check the invitation. Ours was on a different day at a different time then it said on the "confirmed" list.
Thanks for chiming it, I penciled in the time on my calendar already. :D Luckily I have an eraser if necessary.

Thanks for the replies

I'm debating about picking one up (shoe organizer)- I tend to over pack so, knowing me, I'll probably bring one. :) I'm sure we'd be fine without one, though! We're traveling w/ our little one, too! Can't wait!
Don't bring too much for the little one. Luckily our first port was Port Canaveral - we mailed a lot of "entertainment for my son" home.
Not sure your little ones age, but a couple cars, a lovely, & a book was plenty for our guy - he preferred being out & about looking at stuff, climbing stairs, riding the elevator, etc.

If you look on the right hand side of this page you should see a box of links which include - Confirmed Party Listing
Click on that and you can see your M&M details, for your Grandeur cruise it says -
Grandeur Of The Seas 21-Jan-2014 ---- 22-Jan-2014 10:15:00 AM, Viking Crown Lounge
WOW - I bet that I miss more than I find on the CC & RCCL websites! Thanks. Thanks to CC, I have the Royal App on my phone, so I even know where that lounge is located.
-
My girl friend asked for my reservation number so that should could get me a birthday gift - will this be in my room? (I don't know what the gift is...)
-
from the flip side. I dutifully ran to the dollar store & got one of those shoe things that I promptly forgot to pack. I did not miss it & could not for the life of me figure out how I would have used it. (I sailed with my husband & toddler in an inside room...)

On day 1 we should receive our meet & mingle invitation as well as our welcome back party invitation since this will be our second RCCL cruise, right? These will tell us where to show up & when.

I'll be on Grandeur next week.
Is all of the music "loud." If it is "loud" is it contained in a space so that those who do not enjoy loud music can get around it easily? (I know "loud" is subjective & I know not to go to the dance club expecting peace & quiet.)
On the flip side, if I do like orchestral music, is it easily found, with ample seating?
For me, there is a place for all music, but when I am on a cruise ship for me, I want it more subdued & relaxing.
Thanks.
