My 3.5 year old loves cruising!
I love that someone else is cooking & cleaning. :) A condo just doesn't sound like a vacation with all of that cooking & cleaning.
With that said everyones tastes in food is different & quite a few on CC don't care for the food on ______ cruise line.
Personally I like my food to be cleaner (not sauced) & so it is all a bit rich for my taste.
That said, if you choose ______ & don't like it, they will take it away & you can choose to try ______ instead. Or if you can't choose between _____ & ______ you can order both from the start.

It's one of the shots... Crown/Whiskey, Kahlua, and Bailey's/Irish Cream... It was invented in Alaska -- so they say!!! I first had it on the ECSTASY, on the way to Progresso and Cozumel...
I may have to try that - since I am going to AK - in 1 week!
-
...and Duck Farts... too... my down fall...
I have to ask, what is a duck fart? (I have a drink card ordered - so I can splurge.)

I found the best Cream of Potato and Leek soup... I would have named it Cream of Butter soup with some potatoes and leek flavoring... BOY, it was HOT, delicious, and RICH!!!

I find most cruise food to be too rich.:o

OK... I'll be here tonight and get the Skagway Day posted!!! It was two weeks ago TODAY!!! Our COLDEST day and windy and bitter at times!!
Do you think you packed well enough? I have a week to go before I pack, but...
-
I am even more excited for myt upcoming trip. I already have the Tracy Arm catamaran booked. (& we get to go to Glacier bay too - so I wanted to 2 persectives.)
-
Thanks for the review, I can only hope that we have a similar experience on our AK cruise in 2 weeks.

DH and I pay a handsome sum as we choose to sail in suites. We pay what they bill. We see the price THEY set and if we agree to it, we book the cruise. If we do not think that cruise is worth that amount of money to us, we don't book it.
Isn't that what everyone does? Don't we all decide how much money any given product we are buying is worth to us? In most situations, the seller sets the price; not the buyer.
As to lower profit --- How much profit can there be for a seven day cruise sold for $57 Per Day? What kind of a cruise can they provide when some of the cabins are priced that low?
I believe it is a called a loss leader - they are thinking if they can get a couple in a room at $399 each then they will have more money available to spend on alcohol.
& you your vacation is what you make of it.
Those who are paying $399, go to the same ports as those in the suite & the are offered the same food options. If you are not going on the cruise with the intentions of staying in your suite/on your balcony for extended periods of time, then why pay more than that you feel is necessary for a bed/shower/place to store your clothes?
I just read an AK review & the person barely got off the ship in the ports (he ate lunch on the ship & did not mention buying anything) & probably had a low inside (my assumption - his aunt & uncle paid for his trip - 8 in the party) & enjoyed himself. (My guess on his fare - early May inside room double occupancy - though could be 3 or 4 $600 + airfare.)
My family of 3 is also going to AK & we have almost $6,000 invested in the trip aready including arifare, pre & post hotels, ground transportation, & a couple excursions. (I don't see us spend in too much above that as we pre-paid our gratuities & purchased drink cards/unlimited laundry package) I am 100% sure that we will enjoy ourselves.
I've read that other couples are spending $15,000. I am sure that they will enjoy themselves as well.
Just to show that the same trip can be had at many price points. (Maybe even on the same sailing.)

No, you are not ignorant. The OP was worded awkwardly in that the amounts alluded to in these various comments indeed are the Hotel Service Charge which is entered daily on your onboard account. HAL officially refers to this as a Hotel Service Charge and not gratuities ... and I don't believe there is a mechanism in place to pre-pay these amounts in total thru the website or prior to boarding.
We pre-paid - so you can do it, call HAL. (I don't want a big bill at the end so I pre-pay what I can.)

Do they work in 10x10 format?

Will most of the girls have on sun dresses on casual nights? I'm thinking of packing some shorts (knee length) and tops (polo and other) for my tween. Thanks.
either sounds fine. (I saw some questionable outfits on the younger set, but they were still served, etc. & I may just be an old fogey. wink. & glad that I have a 3 year old son. So it really is too early for me to worry about his fashion choices. wink.)
-
On HAL, I will be getting off onto a catamarn so that we can get in closer. Otherwise, Tracy Arm is just sailing.

This is why my husband & I both have $200 drink cards. I want to try, x, y, & Z - then go back & have a, b, & C.
-
I decided that most of the people of the ship thought that Serenity was the name of the stripper who was going to show up and do some dances for them if they sat there and drank long enough.
A little warning next time - I just spewed coca-cola!
-
but Pride can get from Baltimore and back and spend 3 days there on a 7-night cruise.
That is the reason why we will be taking this trip on the Pride - & the @1 hr. drive to port...:D
-
When do you get to Bermuda?
-
I head to Bermuda in 12 days - Keep up the good work!

How do you pay for penny slots?
S&S Card? Credit Card? Cash?
& Why whenever I want to play any of the games they are all full. (I watched that quarter pusher for a long time, but that guy was not going to leave that seat!)

Our favorite bar waiter (Hery)
Hery was one of our favorite wandering bar waiters. (He was also our bar waiter in the MDR.) He was so good/nice, he brought a glass of marischino cherries to our 2 year old one night during dinner. :o)

Atrium Bar
We sailed on the Pride a couple weeks before you. The girl behind the bar in the dark blue shirt was one of our favorite servers on our cruise. It was so nice to see her in your photo!
