1. Looking at the Jewel TA you have 8 straight nights at sea before your first port IMO you will have 4 production shows and maybe 4 headliner's the first night show is a welcome aboard show which tend to be a little more low key then the others. Enjoy you will have great fun and remember the if you don't fancy the show there are other things going on around the ship.

  2. With reference to the dress code at the Grand Mosque in Adu Dhabi it can be very strict as we got off our coach we notice a couple having to change socks, the reason the lady had ¾ length cut off’s on she was having to put on her husband’s/ partners socks then the security officer checked the no skin apart from her hand was visible. As we walked up he told my wife that the shirt she was wearing was see through and he could see the skin on her arms through the shirt. Our tour guide told us the what some security officer consider to be OK one day may not be the next it is somewhat of a lottery, what seemed strange as well is that nearly all the security that we saw where dress in western style clothing when I asked our tour guide she said the most where not from the UAE but from Pakistan or India. The one thing that was standard once you entered the mosque from all security was that ladies heads must be fully covered at all time we saw or witnessed a number of ladies being told to do so. A word of warning to anyone with young children going to the mosque we saw a gentleman pick up his young daughter and start to carry her around he was told very quickly by security that this was not acceptable and to put her down.

Internet my wife and I are both C&A members and both have 24 hours internet access for anyone else that has the same if you wait until the Thursday and them log on you can combine the two and get 4 days unlimited access for one device.

  3. Agree totally. We are at 334 and will hit 350 by the end of summer. That has been our goal as I believe, as you do, that 350 makes a logical level for bridging the gap between 175 and 700.

I am not advocating a diminishing of benefits but my gut tells me that Diamonds will be limited to some number of drink coupons and the new 350-700 will have access to the present Diamond Lounges.

So what is going to happen to the D+ that are between 175 and 350 who have access to the DL now. To solve the problem Royal need to close the loophole that allows people to inherit family and friends status do the nights at sea get the access to the lounges.

  4.
So happy about this ... hopefully, we will get a few bottles of water as some have stated. Heck, the more the better! Just wondering, could we use our Diamond nightly coupons for water to take back to our room -- that is, if there is anything left after we use them for cocktails??

I went into my preferences and filled this out. I learn so much on these boards. Thanks everyone!
NO what a waste :D
  5. Try this as a example:

Dress code in public places in Dubai

In general most 'normal' clothing is tolerated, provided, it is not too outrageous.

    For women

Women do not have to cover their heads, faces and hair with a scarf or something similar when in public, although Muslim women, particularly Gulf Arabs, do cover their hair, faces, heads with scarf for cultural and religious reasons. But, when visiting a Mosque, women have to cover their hair, bodies and legs, although covering the face is not a must.

To be respectful of the UAE culture, it is best to remain covered from shoulder at least to the knees. For instance, although t-shirts (preferably with sleeves covering at least upper arm) are fine, spaghetti tops for women may not be appreciated in public areas. Also, very tight and/or low-cut t-shirts are also considered offensive. Females wearing strappy tops may be in for a warning at Dubai shopping malls, or shopping centres.

It is best to not to keep the skirt length above the knee level. As skirts get shorter in length, there is higher risk of male attention, police arrest and fine.

When visiting a government office (including visa, driving license, hospital), women are required to dress more conservatively.

In more traditional areas such as villages and souks, markets and such other areas, short skirts are not considered appropriate for women, and long-skirts below knee length are preferred. Western tops with deep neck lines are strictly prohibited.

    For men

Men wearing shorts, although may be considered odd, are unlikely to get into trouble. However, cycling shorts that reveal certain contours or boxer shorts may result in warning from the authorities. Wearing cycling shorts when cycling should be fine.

Sports clothing appropriate for the sport being played is allowed at the sports venue. However, any combinations of t-shirts and shorts are not a problem, even if worn elsewhere on the way from sports location. At the beach, a swimsuit is acceptable.

When visiting a Mosque, men are required to be dressed in long trousers.

T-shirts with offensive slogans or pictures, gestures, or obscene language that might cause religious or cultural offence are not acceptable in Dubai.

  6. I'm guessing that the CP247 was the picture that you had bid for in the 1st place, then at some point you where offered a choice of 2 more picture either at the auction or when you went to do the paper work.

Th fact that PW have sent you was in-correct picture in the first place that should be corrected at no cost to you, you would have no idea as to the CP number of piece of art that you where buying. I guess that you identified it by sight and telling the assistant that that is the picture we want.

As to the other 2 PW are saying that you should have noticed that the numbers where the same not always easy to do when maybe rushing to get the paperwork done and you are on holiday, maybe talk to PW again and look for a understanding that you return one a your cost and their send you the 2 pictures that you had expected.

Also call Royal post cruise services and speak to then.

  7. We sailed last week. As British citizens this is what happened.

Passport stamped on arrival in Dubai - no visa required.

When boarding Splendour of the Seas the ship kept our passports until after Oman.

When we collected them back we had been stamped out of UAE in Dubai.

We had stamps for a 48hr visitors visa in and out of Oman. You are given a pink credit card sized tourist card by the ship when you leave it in Oman which they collect back in when you reboard.

No charge was added to our onboard account for the visa so they must have factored it in to the original cost of the cruise.

We had a slight delay leaving Dubai airport, I think it was because we had so many entry and exit stamps and because the second time we entered the UAE in Abu Dhabi and left from Dubai. However, after 10 mins or so and a trip to the immigration kiosk they stamped our passports and let us home - thankfully! :). I cant tell you what the problem was because when we asked they said ' no problem'.

Hope this helps and clearly I cant account for any future changes, this was our experience on 14 Dec 2015 sailing.

    Thanks for the info.

Quick question what time was your flight out of Dubai and what time where you able to start disembarkation.

  8. If we finally reach to the point that there are already so many D's (since D's are constantly growing but the lounges aren't) and RCCL has to finally take action, which do action you think is more acceptable:

Kick out all D's from the D lounge and only give us 3 free drinks (similar to the Celebrity model - Elites no longer have access to Michael's Club and they just are given 3 free drink coupons instead of Elite cocktail reception if there are too many elites on that sailing)

    OR

De-congest the D lounge by removing those who just inherited the status from their parents. (but retain the spouse) So the children status' will be based their actual number of points earned when they reach 18. (this will actually encourage them to take more cruises to reach Diamond in their own right)

Whether we like it or not, it will come to this soon.. so which of the 2 do you think is more fair to all members?

IMO Royal should go one step further and anyone that has inherited their C&A status should have it re-evaluated and their status re-assigned to the number of nights that they have sailed, people will always look for ways the bend or even break rules, sign someone up to C&A say that their live at your address and BINGO they will receive the status that they IMO are not entitled to.

  9. Royal had the chance to resolve this issue back in 2011 when their changed the way that points where awarded, simple by saying everyone has to earn their C&A levels in their own right.

I think I’m right in saying that to be D you had to complete ten cruises Royal at the time awards 1 point for a 7- 10 day cruise but if you did a 3 day cruise you still got 1 point this was a major complaint by a lot for people that took the longer cruise.

Royal allowed everyone that had reached the D level to remain at D but reset their points to the amount of nights that they had spent at sea so that someone taking 10, 3 night cruise would only have 30 points meaning that reaching D+ was a lot further away then someone taking 10, 7 night cruises.

As to the OP spouse / SO being automatically being the same status is it right IMO no everyone should earn the right by cruising the required number of nights at sea but until Royal change the rules that it has in place people will continue to exploit the loophole that Royal has created. In regards to children cruising with their parents the parents are paying the price as if it was an adult I have no problem with that.

Are the D lounges become over crowded yes and the 3 drinks on the card has not solved the issue, will Royal make more changes in a attempt to solve the issue at some point IMO yes it will, what these changes will be no one knows, some changes to benefits for being D / D+ have already taken place and most are not for the better.
