  1. Will be on Radiance cruising Alaska for birthday celebration and family reunion. Would love to have champagne for all of us to toast with when the whistles blow at sailaway. Does anyone know if Royal serves it to everyone as "gift", can we buy a glass for everyone and bring it to our lookout? I know we can bring it onboard, but I hate to give up one of my bottles of wine for the room to share a bottle of champagne with everyone -haha

Just an idea get them to bring the champagne you still get to take 2 bottles for the cabin.

  2. We have booked with Iglu Barcelona to Dubai. Flying back on Virgin

What carrier and time do you have? Thanks. We haven't been notified of any flight changes.

We original where booked on a BA flight which was due to leave at 0930, how on the Virgin flight that leaves around 1100 ish.

Would normal have booked our own flights but the package was a good price this time with Royal, but agree that choice air sometimes is priced over the top.

  3. It appears that RCI will try to con us all with its sale by hiking price in the first place, booked a cruise back in Jan 15 which included free drinks package and free service grats it now appears that the base line price had been hiked up to include this to start with. the base line price we paid in Jan 15 was £691 today I could book a high grade cabin for a base line price of £295. Like the saying goes nothings for free in life !

The choices are as follows, should you like to update or change them on your membership, please let me know.

  6. Had booked EOS Barcelona to Dubai with flights included I.E. fly London to Barcelona and then return flight from Dubai to London, have now changed plans and we are joining the cruise at Southampton and doing back to back to Dubai.

So here is the point phoned RCI to amend flights in that we did not require the flight from London to Barcelona but wished to retain the flight back from Dubai now problem say Royal we can do that happy bunny now have another 7 days cruising and flight no extra cost.

Received e-mail to confirm details yes you guessed it return flight has changed to a later flight and different carrier.

Have just spoken to RCI again to be told that the reason the flight has now changed is that RCI can not guarantee that we would that we would make the original flight, as he put it it was outside RCI required parameters and RCI would have been changing the flights anyway. So a word of warning anyone else who is booked on the same cruise with flights back from Dubai beware.

  7. The thing that gets most peoples backup is those who at 7 am grab 3 or 4 beds not to return until 10 or 11 am and sometimes never.

I agree don't have a problem with people who leave the stuff on the sunbeds while going to the bar or have a swim, my wife likes to use the hot tubs and normally leaves me reading/ sunbathing for 20-30 minutes if people have a problem with that tough. At lunch we tend to leave our towels on the beds go and something to eat and return to eat it on the sunbeds like many others don't see a problem with that either.

Policing of RCI policy of 30 minutes has been debated on here many times, have seen a few times the resulting arguments when people return to find their stuff has been removed and someone else using the beds these arguments can get quite heated.

  8. I got a much better deal on St. Maarten for my Citizen watch than the ship's price. There was no way I was going to go back and buy it on the ship. I don't play those games. Give me your best price and if I like it I'll buy. If not, then I wont' be back. Besides that, since the shops on the ship are closed until you leave port, when they do open they could always say there is something wrong with the way the quote you brought back is written and not honor the price. What do you do then, swim back to the island to buy?

There are plenty of legitimate and trustworthy shops on St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I have no issue making purchases on those islands.

Maybe I should have said if you buy a watch on-board before arriving at the islands, check the price ashore. RCI have or did have a price promise in the shops that stated that fact, my wife brought me a Citizen Eco drive on board when we got to the islands found the exact modal cheaper got a card went back to the ship RCI staff matched the price and she got the refund.

  9. I brought Citizens on-board and around the islands you can get some great deals, also remember that if you buy a watch on-board check out the price ashore if a store has it cheaper ask for a card with price on it, say you want to think about it take that back on-board and the shops on-board will price match and refund the difference.

As others have said do some research before you go. Happy shopping:)

  10. We always opt for a cash account, you can if you want go to guest service on boarding have money added to the account so it has a credit on the sea pass. Anyone travelling in the same cabin the cards are link to the lead names passenger. Guest service will contact you if he account goes over a set amount by will leave a message which request that you reduce the amount owing.

At the end of the cruise you can then pay any remain amount by using a credit card.

  11. Our first cruise back in Oct 2002 DW and I decided to renew our wedding vows due to the fact that I suffered a heart attack in the July of that year, we where sat at a table for six a older couple and a couple who where a few years younger both couples had cruised before but made us fell very welcome, on the second night we where all chatting and it was mentioned by us that we where renewing our vows by the end of the third night we had some new friend to attend the service with us. We are still great friend with the older couple.
