  1. I don’t bring extra for tips. I prepay all tips in ship. Porters don’t get tipped- they are longshoreman. Very seldom do people go above and beyond. It’s ludicrous to tip more to a bartender already getting 18%
On the Sunshine, o tipped bartenders an extra dollar each round when I had Cheers. No matter what bar i went to, I got immediate service. A few times there was a huge line at the other end off the bar. One bartender I frequented saw me out off the corner of his eye and came right to me. You can be cheap and stand in line watching while I get served all you want!!!!

  2. Going on the Breeze in April. Just curious if anyone who's been through the new "cards in the mailbox" check-in process also had the pre-paid Cheers! program. In the prior process, even before you were able to access your stateroom you could obtain the Cheers! sticker for your card at a bar and of course not pay for the drink as a program participant (except for sales tax while in departure ports). What about when you only have your Boarding Pass to get a drink? I assume the computer system knows all, including Cheers! participation? Do you still need to get a sticker once you do have your card in-hand? Thanks.

The sticker is not needed for Cheers. When they enter your folio number or swipe your card, the computer tells them you have Cheers. The computer also pops up your picture so they know if you are using the correct card or not.

  3. Personally, I wish they would enforce a rule that says no chair saving unless someone is there meaning 1 person must be present to save 2 seats. That early in the morning, Carnival should have someone going around collecting towels where no one is present. Since the towels are now missing, the offenders will be charged for losing the towels. Listen up Carnival, this is another money maker for you!!!

  4. To be clear, you buy Carnival gift cards from AARP. This will (1) get you a 10% discount and (2) enable those who have trouble keeping cash to permanently designate funds for their vacation without the ability to spend it on other things.
I have no trouble saving cash without spending it on other things. Why would I not want to save $250 on my $2,500 cruise fare, port fees, and gratuities. Seems smarter to me to do that pay full price like you obviously do!!!

  5. I just checked out the FTTF for my cruise on the Glory in September. I've never done it before and thought I'd check it out after I've read so many reviews. First off I noticed that it is already marked "sold out," and the second thing I saw was the price was $90!!! Seriously? Just to get on and off the ship faster? Give me a break. I'd rather spend that $90 on something I can see, feel, or taste. To me it's like flushing it down the toilet...or better yet, ya'll can just hand it directly over to me!
    While you are waiting

    1. In line to check in

    2. In line to board

    3. For your room to be ready

    4. 15-20 deep in the guest services line

    5. In line for tenders

    6. In line to debark

I will be long gone doing other things. After paying $2500 for a balcony, another $90 to not wait in lines is worth it to me. I will be sure to wave as I pass you!!!!

  6.

    1. Free access to your room, which is already free

    2. Baggage delivery slightly earlier, which is free

    3. The ability to do the work of the porters/ship employees to deliver your bags yourself and drop them off. (Yes, you pay Carnival so you can do the work yourself)

    4. Get in a line that is free, but pay to move ahead of the line.....still a free line

    5. Get off ship faster (free)

    6. Get on a tender faster (and free service)

It's free stuff, but you get to pay for it......:')

How is any of the above free if you are

    1. Waiting on the lido with the masses while I am comfortably in my room already

    2. Have my luggage unpacked before you even get into your stateroom

    3. I only carry one a backpack (with camera, money, etc) and soft drinks for our room. I won't be carrying these to the crowded lido.

    4. I will wait in line less than you. My time is important to me and the less I wait in line behind slow moving people the better. I have my TSA pre-check and Global Entry (I assume you think those are a waste too) just so I can miss all the idiots who don't understand the rules at airports.

    5. I am through customs, out the door and on my way home before you even leave the ship again with the masses

    6. I am already off the tender and enjoying the islands while you are still waiting in the hallway on the cruise ship.

    7. Also don't forget you can give me dirty looks at guest services when you are number 15 or 20 in line and I walk up and get helped right away...again...no waiting!!!

Anything we can do to speed up any process is welcomed by me. We are not cheap when we vacation. $90 is not going to make or break me. If it does, I have bigger issues and don't need to be paying $2,500 for a balcony on the lido deck. If I had to guess, you probably don't tip extra because the workers get paid $5 a day (included in your fare) to wait on you.

  7. Definitely worth it to us. After spending $2500 for the cruise what is another $100? We love getting on earliet, dropping carry ons off in room, priority customer service, fast luggage delivery, and priority debarkation. If I was going cheap for a deck 1 interior, maybe I would think differently.

  8. I have zip lined several times and even did it in Roatan. I have never felt unsafe doing it anywhere. Word of mouth is the best thing these places have going. While it is unfortunate, obviously the husband was at fault. PERIOD!!! If you are not going to zip line because of this accident, why cruise then? People "accidentally" fall overboard and die. Same logic is not applied to that situation.

  9. I don't get the whiners missing the tablecloths either. Most land based restaurants have gone away from table cloths. The whiners must lead pretty boring lives when the highlight of their cruise is eating dinner. Personally I wish the dining room staff could speed up the process. 2 hours to eat is just really a waste of time. I enjoy the dining room, but I want to so many other things while on the ship than sitting in a dining room for 2 hours when an hour is sufficient.

  10. We get it for several reasons but to each their own. Don't listen to the people who say it is a waste of money. It is up to you to decide.

    1. We don't live close to the port so we must arrive the night before. Hotel check out is usually 11-12. If I have a late check in time, what am I supposed to do int he meantime? I don't want to drag my luggage around with me while I wait to check in.

    2. Some of us drop carry on bags at room while others head to lido. We beat the masses on board and can eat in peace and quiet while not waiting in lines. We eat and then get out before the masses start arriving.

    3. We have always received our luggage quickly with FTTF so we get a drink a a bar and unpack well before Muster. Nice not to feel rushed.

    4. Priority line at Guest Services. It seems we always have an issue and it is so nice to by pass the 20-25 people in line so we can get our issue solved quickly.

    5. our last cruise on the Sunshine, we arrived in Aruba 3 hours late. We received a letter in our cabin stating Plat, Diamond, FTTF to report to a lounge for priority debarkation in Aruba. It was great because they let NO ONE off (and there was a huge line) before we were escorted down to get off the ship. This was a HUGE time saver as the line for taxis behind us was ENORMOUS!!!

    6. Priority debarkation. We get off right after the carry off people. Why deal with luggage if we can leave it our the night before, get off boat quickly, through customs, shuttle to hotel and on road before 9am?
