  1. Celebrity has also a "squirty" person at all buffet and restaurant entrances. On Equinox they were insisting that all use it, even calling those back that did not stop.

Definitely no "squirty" person at buffet entrances on The Summit recently. I think if they had been there a lot more people would have used the sanitiser.

  2. We enjoyed Luminae very much last month on the summit. Menu is posted outside the restaurant. We found the food to be excellent, great staff and lovely atmosphere. I'm quite a plain eater and one evening there just wasn't anything I really wanted so I asked if it was possible to have something off the MDR menu. It was brought to me immediately though I didn't notice anyone else the whole week requesting this.

Just allow quite a bit of time, it's definitely not a rush in and rush out. It's more a really enjoyable leisurely dining experience.

Definitely got the thumbs up from us.

  3. Hope they have the problem sorted now.

I also am shocked at how many passengers walk past the sanitiser and then lift the food tongs at the buffet. I realise some have just come out of the bathroom after washing hands but on our recent Summit cruise 30 Aug there were numerous passengers ignoring it. Bring back the staff member trying to draw attention to it as I felt some new passengers maybe genuinely didn't see it.

  4. I am sure that before the last tender leaves with the crew a recce is done and as many of the towels as possible are recovered. It would be in the locals best interests to return them anyway. On pour recent Solstice cruise all "Celebrity yellow" towels that were in the staterooms were removed and used for the solarium. If one wanted a towel to take ashore one collected them from the solarium or outside pools.

It was actually at horseshoe bay and we got there by bus so there wouldn't have been any staff checking so the towels would have stayed in the trash. Enjoying all the comments.

  5. It was kids mainly on our recent Summit cruise August 30th that were not good at the buffet as they had no parents with them to see what they were doing!!! we also noticed so many passengers going into the buffet without using the sanitiser at the entrance. I understand some may have been in restroom, washed their hands and then used tissue to open the door but I don't think it was the case with all of them. Bring back the staff member standing there trying to remind passengers.

  6. Had never thought about this until my adaptor broke on recent cruise to Bermuda. Instore shops didn't stock any UK adapters and guest services didn't have any. Note to self - pack a spare next time !!

Wonderful concierge charged my phone and camera but if she hadn't been so helpful I would have been really stuck and will carry a spare In future.

  7. I have never given this much thought until we were on Summit 30/8/15 and we saw passengers leaving their towels in the rubbish bins at the beach rather than take them back to the ship !! I just feel this is totally wrong and

perhaps if the ship imposed a deposit this would not happen and people would return the towels.

I wouldn't mind at all paying a deposit when I was given my towel.

  8. I really need to question why anyone would go to this given the very limited choices - just to sit in an area that is reserved for elites?

I would rather have real choices for breakfast - the food is free anyway...

Really peaceful area with a light breakfast and we come home a lot lighter than if we visited the MDR or the ocean view each morning :) 😄

  9. Thanks for your review! Your pictures are amazing.

We cruised the week after you. Sounds like we had the same entertainment - The A Capella group, the shows. We had two comedians -- both who were very funny. The liar's club was a riot -- and they did the same pantyhose skit. Capt Leo has such charisma and was very funny. Nice to the see the Captain out and about around the ship. We loved the martini bar and rendezvous lounge. Revelations was just beautiful. The Port vs Starboard contest was great and engaging! Karaoke contestants were amazing. AND of course Bermuda is beautiful.

We typically cruise RCCL, its our favorite, but we cruised Celebrity as my parents arranged this one. Even though the companies are related, they are very different experiences. The major difference - Celebrity is not for families.

The crew/wait staff was great with our kids. We asked for towel animals and they delivered (Small ones) but nonetheless we had a circus of small animals in our cabin by the end of the ship. The cabins were tiny compared to other cruise lines, but still comfortable. Loved the bed - slept soundly.

However, this type of cruise had serious issues with the crotchiness of many other passengers. The average age was probably 75, making my husband and I (in our late 40's) youngsters. We were able to be the hot ones (not) in all the games on deck, etc. An idea of the crotchiness -- two old ladies giving my 9 & 16 yr old the finger and telling them off because my son jumped in the elevator to hold the button before they got out. It was hard to get anywhere the first few days or in and out of the dining room without tripping over a scooter or walker.

It seemed every time my kids turned around they received very rude or odd comments from other passengers through out the trip. Additionally the were kicking the kids out of the outdoor pool pushing them to the smaller pool that was filled with Seniors. It was a mess with 3 days at see and that attitude. The older crowd didn't want to be in the big pool because of the waves and they couldn't stand, the younger kids did, but the Pool butlers were like ****s about this. There was low tolerance for any bit of splashing (from actual swimming) in the pools. Additionally kids club was boring, teen club was tiny and focused on video games. So not like they could hide up there for the week.

I think we have sworn off Celebrity for the time being.. .until we are retired at least - Back to RCCL and NCL for the family friendly atmosphere.

We were on same cruise 30 August but reading this just seems so strange as we were always on deck and never saw any of this. Waves in the big pool??? I was in it daily and never saw any waves or many seniors in the kids pool.

There were more children onboard this cruise than usual for September and most were well-behaved. Only thing we noticed was they were usually without parents and in the Oceanview the kids were lifting food without using the tongs which isn't great for hygiene. My only gripe about kids onboard.

I definitely didn't think the average age was 75 and didn't notice a large amount of walkers or scooters.

It's manners to wait for people to get out of a lift first but those ladies shouldn't have gestured to your son. I didn't come across any crotchiness thankfully on the ship and had a wonderful holiday.

  10. enjoying your review. Sorry you were disappointed with the cabin and all the other things. We booked a Sky suite this time as a first and everyone around us could see us so that was a surprise but it didn't bother us at all. Think we will just go back to regular balcony in future. Capt Kate was introduced on our cruise at one of the events but the lineup to speak to her was immediate so I can kind of guess why they were breaking her in gently as everyone and it really looked like everyone wanted to speak to her. Felt quite sorry for her.

Regarding the heat in your room and you saying it was maximum and you were saying it was really hot. We had ours turned to minimum so It was really cool which is just how I like it. Bed was so soft and comfortable and pillows were great and the appetisers etc you received in your stateroom were the same as suite. We were very fortunate to have a very enjoyable cruise and hope you enjoy your next one more.

Everything was just perfect and I have no complaints at all.

  11. I still believe it should be for Diamondclub members only and they have to draw a line somewhere. If you bring your friends in it would mean any other Diamond club member with friends on bev package would also want to come in and so on.

Usually appetisers etc are served at these events as well so they probably don't want large numbers attending.

I'm sure your friends wouldn't mind having a drink in one of the other lounges if you want to attend the event, that's what we do.

  12. Does the actual captain normally show up at that? I've never been invited to dine with the captain but I thought in most cases it's the staff captain who shows up. Hopefully both will be at the senior officer's party.

Captain definitely showed up at a couple of dinners we were invited to. It was a really enjoyable evening.

  13. I think it depends very much on the passengers on the particular cruise. I'm saying this as we usually cruise with Celebrity and it is that bit more formal. In June this year we sailed for the first time on Norwegian Epic and were expecting it to be a lot less dressy as there are no formal nights and we were really pleasantly surprised to see how many people really dressed up for dinner. I see from earlier posts this wasn't the case for them with NCL but we had an excellent cruise from start to finish.

  14. My husband and I also prefer cruises with as few children as possible and find Celebrity to be pretty good. We do cruise mainly in sept though in the hope they are all back at school.

It's not, that we don't like children before I get blasted. I work in a day care nursery and just prefer to be on a cruise where there aren't too many kids.
