  1. Haven't done this personally but if I were to see if it's possible, I can think of a simple and risk-free way to find out. Make an EZ-Air booking outside of final payment so you don't have to put up any money. Then call your airline and see if you can upgrade it with points. If you don't like the result, cancel the booking! Then, come back here and let us know what you found out...
  2. Our favorite is an octopus-style power strip. Ours has six plugs and no surge protector. The one pictured below has five. With this style no wall-wart power supply will ever block an adjacent plug.
  3. Right, I didn't consider some airlines are particularly difficult with seat assignments. That's something to consider when rebooking for a price drop.
  4. We use the staple method that Princess espouses. We just make sure there's one of those mini-staplers in our carry-on and like others have said, affix them to the bags just before you make the final transfer to the ship. Having them in the outside pocket of each bag is a great idea BTW. Normally DW keeps a file folder in her carry-on with paperwork for each leg of the trip. This includes the bag tags. I'm going to suggest the outside pocket method for the bag tags. Less stuff to carry around.
  5. I've done this multiple times. It's pretty simple. Just go through the process to book the new flights. EZair cancels your current flights simultaneously with sucessfully making the new reservation. If the there's a problem making the new reservation, your old reservation is still there. The only thing I've run into is during seat selection you can't select your old seats as your old reservation hasn't yet been canceled. However once you've made the new reservation you can go back in and now select your previous seats. There might be a possibility that in the small time window between making the new reservation and going back, someone may grab the old seats but I've never run into that.
  6. My thoughts exactly. Looked like it was a little breezy possibly causing the delay in the announcement as they wanted to showcase the "Sun" balloon. Felt sorry for the acrobat under the balloon too.
  7. I sure hope he's still on board starting October 7. What a great captain! Last we saw him was on the last voyage of the Pacific Princess before it was sold. Captain Lorentzen could often be seen wandering the ship both in uniform and also dressed like a passenger. DW is full Scandinavian blood and they call each other "cousin". Glad to know he's still with Princess. Caption of this photo: Junior Officer thinking "How am I going to tell these guys I just dropped the ship's keys overboard?"
  8. And skinny jeans? Those are so pre-COVID ...
  9. Yeah, she thought she was at Port Canaveral too ...
  10. That's not right. Non-refundable OBC can definitely be used to book excursions online before you board.
  11. They got the photo wrong. How long will it before there's someone's towel, book and sunglasses holding a lounger? 😅
  12. Looks like they didn't get the memo on balconies being too small. This is the Deluxe Balcony. Mini-Suite a little better though. There's room for a foot stool. And of course the Cabana Mini-Suite is fine.
  13. Presentation said 21 decks. Looks like the same number of passenger decks as the Royal class. I count up to a Riviera deck under the Lido. Anybody see something different?
  14. I looked at this list yesterday morning and the Sapphire's 2023 voyages to Antarctica and South America were also listed as enhanced. Double checked just now and I get the same list with everything in 2023 now no longer listed. Saves us some trouble as we are on the January 4 Sapphire sailing out of Buenos Aires. We arrive four days before and would have had to find a test center in BA. Edit: Just read Alcairns post - yeah, watch this space. Losing the 2023 voyages like losing the Canada ones seems suspicious. Agree - watch this space!
  15. And you receive that Patter the night before... Do they put it on the MedallionClass app Journey View?
  16. Definitely inconsistent. Sent in a request on a Sunday and on Monday, two cruises had their credit. Didn't get any emails.
  17. OK it's not your cruise on the Grand Princess but if you ever find yourself in Palermo on the island of Sicily, there's a fabulous store dedicated to gluten-free goods. Don't remember the name but it's a short walk from where the ship docks. I'm sure Google will help too. We found it by accident. DW was sooooo happy! Edit: Found it!
  18. I believe things changed a little after Princess started requiring excursions to be paid in advance. The change allowed people to use the Shareholder credit for their excursions.
  19. If you're vaccinated you don't need a Covid test. They've dropped that as of today for sailings from the UK. Unless of course you're heading to Greece or on a "special" cruise. They're all described on the Princess web-site. Passport and proof of vaccination are all you need. We're leaving Southampton on October 7 and that's our list of docs.
  20. DW has celiac and therefore must be gluten-free, it's not a choice. While we haven't been on the Grand, we have sailed quite a few Princess ships and have navigated the gluten-free landscape. cr8tiv1 is correct regarding the MDR. They are quite good at taking care of you. Most dishes they serve can be made GF as long as they have the day's notice. If they can't, the HW will offer you an alternative. BTW, you will get to know the HW pretty well, it's fun! DW's experience with their bread is so-so. It's hard to make a good GF bread but muffins and such can be made to taste good, Buffet dining works a little different. Head into the buffet and ask for the "Chef du Parti" (or something like that). He or she will take you around and show you what's OK and what isn't. They're very good about this. If you like french fries, you have a treat coming at the on-deck grill. The fryer there is dedicated only to french fries, nothing else goes into that oil to contaminate it. Of course things can change so always double check. That's the place to get your fries. Don't trust Room Service in that regard (my opinion). You probably already know, if they aren't sure, run!
  21. I always blame the Aussies who were on the previous cruise... 😉
  22. I have successfully used a similar format to this. People should note that you can also request credit for multiple bookings with a single email. Separate emails are not required. Just provide all the information for each booking and make it clear it's for multiple bookings.
  23. You can purchase Princess beds online at https://princessluxurybed.com/ We have the king-size including all the pillows, sheets, comforter and so on. It's wonderful. It doesn't rock you to sleep but it's the same bed!
