  1. Sorry for the basic questions - what is check in time if it's not boarding time? Is it the time we can arrive at the port? If I get a later time can I still arrive earlier? Boarding is in Southampton if that makes a difference. I'd like to board as early as possible so I can get my bearings and check out the ship.
  2. Thank you. Leaving around 90 days from now, so it looks like when have time, booked in the Retreat so not sure about the check in time for that cabin, but I will log in and check. I appreciate your advice.
  3. Thank you so much. I see it now. I really appreciate your help.
  4. I've sailed before, but not with Celebrity. Is there a FAQ somewhere that goes step-by-step on how and when to do the check-in, get luggage tags and the like for our upcoming cruise? Or can someone share a few of the basics here? I just realized that I have no idea what I need to do online next after booking the cruise and paying for it. Thanks in advance.
  5. I'm really looking forward to following along on your cruise. And I love the new videos. Not to sound creepy, but do you ever walk on Mary? I was driving and saw someone who looked so much like you and I seriously wondered if I had seen you in the wild. LOL I hope you have a great trip. That itinerary looks amazing.
  6. They just keep digging a deeper hole with this stuff. I am booked in an Aqua Sky Suite for my first ever Celebrity cruise and so far they are failing to impress me. I did get a call a while back and was told the Apex would have butlers back "by June" but is that a full team or an understaffed one? I have no loyalty to this cruise line, but was hoping that X would be our new cruise home. It's not looking good right now. You'd think they wouldn't want to make long time customers and new customers look elsewhere.
  7. I believe there are more than one. When I booked we had quite a few options to choose from, but maybe some are full now. Last time I looked only the $36K per person suite was available, but I also know that these things change all the time.
  8. I think it depends on how much you want to see vs. how much you want to relax. I went on a Mediterranean cruise last summer and wanted to see stuff, so I had a tour booked for each port (I booked privately though because I don't have much tolerance for shore excursions). For Norway I'm doing a lot more time on our own compared to tours, but that's just a personal preference. I see you have some shorter tours which I think will give you a nice mix of seeing things and having some time to explore on your own. Kristiansand is small and you can walk from the port into town easily. In Alesund the ship docked mere steps away from a really pretty part of the town. The open air museums in those towns are really interesting, BTW. Hope this helps.
  9. I've been on a Norway sailing that had once nice day (spent by the pool). On the other sea days I went to some activities, watched a movie, went to the spa, and read a book. This wasn't on Celebrity, but I'm sailing on a similar cruise this summer with X and hope I can do the same.
  10. Not what I was hoping to hear, but I appreciate the honest feedback. I need shade, too. I was hoping that the hog to chair ratio might be better up there. I'm sailing on the Apex - I haven't seen anything about enforcement there, but since you have seen it I will hope for the best.
  11. After reading the comments about the chair hogs, how are things in the Retreat Lounge and on the Retreat sundeck? Chair hogs is one of the reasons I booked into the Retreat but now I'm wondering if it's still going to be a problem.
  12. Great review. I'm following along and hoping they do something about the chair hogs.
  13. One would hope they would fix it before taking it across the Atlantic... but the port time changes say otherwise.
  14. I really appreciate the heads-up. I'm not sure what I can really do now that an entire trip has been planned around this cruise plus we are meeting up with friends in London for this one. If it was a simple Caribbean cruise I could easily just rebook it. Ugh.
  15. As someone who gets pretty seasick when the ship rolls (even when wearing the patch) I'm kind of freaking out right now. Hoping for the best but I don't have much trust in Celebrity since they keep changing things (like the butlers) since I booked my first cruise.
  16. I really hope you're wrong because having a less stable ship in the North Sea is not a good idea. Not doubting your experience at all here, just hoping for the best.
  17. Same for my 7nt fjord cruise in July. It wasn't much of a change (at least no ports were changed) but I'm curious to know more.
  18. I also prefer ships that have laundry machines that guests can use. It's always worked well for me and I prefer to have control over the process so things don't get lost or destroyed. I have my first cruise with X coming up later this year and I guess I really have to look into their laundry service vs. trying to hand-wash items.
  19. Thanks so much for sharing this. It's good to see backup/confirmation on the June date even though we don't really know what they are going to do. I booked a suite with a dedicated butler, not a team that I have to constantly text. I really hope I get what I paid for since it was part of the decision to jump ship from another line and give X a try. I'm tired of people asking why I care or what I want a butler to do for me. If I agree to purchase a car with red racing stripes they can't just slip in another model with no stripes, even if other people think that red racing stripes are tacky or stupid. I don't intend to ask for much (perhaps a coffee and pastry or breakfast in the mornings and some water and snacks in the afternoon) but I want what I paid for. If anyone is still reading, I see lots of talk about Silver, Regent, and Oceania. What are your thoughts on Viking?
  20. Can't say that this thought didn't cross my mind... I really want to believe they are going to do the right thing.
  21. Even with a call I'm still one of those who will believe it when we see it kind of people, but the more people who report this information the better I feel about it. I wasn't really looking forward to our upcoming cruise and now I am.
