  1. Thank you for your experiences as well. I plan on reaching out to AARP tomorrow.
  2. Thank you! At least I have the supervisors name. This is all crazy for sure. It seems no one wants to be responsible.
  3. No, I haven't contacted AARP. I read your information on post #94 and it sounded like you were dealing with Princess only. If I don't hear back I will contact AARP tomorrow as they are closed now. Thank you
  4. I didn't. Reading AARP terms say any issue with the gift cards need to be dealt with directly with Princess. The last agent I had on the phone was very knowledgable but was trying to get me off the phone to call AARP. After the information on the AARP website and the information I read regarding these issues here the consensus seemed to be that AARP can't do anything. (I think the cards are sold directly by Princess from the AARP website.) When she tried to get me off the phone for the last time, I essentially said, NO, I need to talk to a supervisor. I think it put her off, but I wasn't letting her off the phone. The other people I spoke with today except for the original chat agent were worthless. One of them hung up on me as soon as I explained the issue. So, the last agent, put me on hold while waiting for a supervisor. She kept checking on me and got the card number and pin from me at one point and I thought I was getting someplace. Then after about 20 more minutes she transferred my call directly to the supervisor. The supervisor was very nice. She told me that Princess doesn't handle gift cards at all and that the company that they had previously given me the phone number for handles all of their gift cards. I had called the 3rd party vendor earlier this morning and the phone agent told me that they didn't handle AARP cards. I explained this to the supervisor. She gave me both the phone number and an email address. I was still hesitating at this point, and she relented and gave me her direct email so that I can contact her immediately if I get no place with the 3rd party company. There is a possibility that the agent I originally spoke with doesn't know that they handle aarp cards. The verbage on the Princess website and the AARP Card terms are the same. I put everything into an email. Hopefully I will hear something back soon. If not I will try to call the number back again. And If I don't get a favorable response I will reach back out to the supervisor. And if they doesn't work, I'll dispute the $500 charge.
  5. Can we just say that I have embarked on 5 hours of hell! The first chat agent was excellent and confirmed that only 4 were used and the 5th was declined. But they just told me to call the call center. I have had one quick call after a 30 minute wait that told me to call the Princess Gift Card line and they quickly told me they don't handle the AARP cards but the Princess gift cards handled on their site. I called back and waited for 30 minutes again to be disconnected. I am now on my 3rd call and waiting for a supervisor. But they are all just trying to get me off the phone by calling AARP. HELP! Does anyone have any idea who I need to deal with directly
  6. Do you happen to have the number you used to call and verify? I'm hoping it isn't the normal call center number. And that might help me expedite the process instead of doing the normal loops around the Princess call center. Thank you
  7. Did you get this resolved? I just had this happen today. I forgot to check the cards before applying them and the phone agent said they all processed but it appears only $2000 has been applied and not the full $2500. They struggled with one of them and I had to give him the number several times. I had this happen previously but when I entered the cards on the balance checker I found the one that didn't process and I was able to call back and have it added. This time they all show zero.
  8. I understand that, I was looking for the drop off point. I have already found that information... thank you
  9. Has anyone taken this tour. It is essentially a shuttle to Kyoto and you sightsee on your own. My question for anyone that has taken this tour "Where do that drop you in Kyoto?" The tour description has no details for this and I'd like to plan a little in advance on the things we would like to see within reason, but it is impossible to plan if you don't know where you are starting your day. Thank you!
  10. I've ordered it without the Blue Cheese....
  11. I'm trying to get something a little more definitive. I need to book a private shuttle and don't know the best time to book it for. I'll probably keep track of a couple of more sailings
  12. Can someone tell me what time the Walk off's are allowed to disembark on the Icon of the Seas? Can you post the sheet with disembarkation times?
  13. I don't believe a 3rd party purchase will work for your credit card credit. In order to get the credit from your credit card company it has to be a purchase from Princess. If you purchase the cards from a store or AARP that is what it shows on your credit card, not a purchase from Princess. This happens for people that purchase their air through Princess with their airline credit card. They do not receive the credit because it isn't purchased directly with the airline.
  14. I think maybe I can cash out at the casino and use it as extra gratuities for staff, that will help to get rid of some of it.
  15. We disembark in Yokohoma so I'm pretty sure I can't convert it there.
  16. We are past final payment date and I don't believe they will refund that now.
  17. We don't sail until April, I'm just trying to come up with a plan. None of the onboard credit is refundable. $250 used to be since it is military and although this has been booked since before the change making it non-refundable it appears they aren't going to honor that. I thought I would be safe if there were leftovers I could just move it to the Casino and pull it out, that is until I heard that the payouts in the Casino are in AUD$. (How did you manage to get a check from the Casino? vs a payout?) We don't gamble much but I accidently left $50 in my casino account on a previous cruise and never received anything. After booking the Princess excursions we wanted we have $640 AUD left. We have the Premier plan and are booked in a suite so we have 3 specialty dining and unlimited everything else so I just don't see a lot of additional expenditures. In the past, nice bottles of Scotch were purchased for gifts, but I'm not sure that I want to deal with that flying home from Japan.
  18. While we are discussing Australia tours I need some suggestions.... We have some significant AUD Onboard Credit. $1160 worth. I have several excursions booked but we also booked some individual excursions. We have the Premier package so I'm not anticipating a lot of extra charges. I have always heard you can pull onboard credit by moving it to the Casino and cashing out, but since the ship is operating on AUD, what does a US Citizen do with several hundred AUD$ when the ship ends in Japan? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated? What do US Citizens do if they hit a Jackpot on an Australian Sailing?
  19. We are doing this excursion in April and I have pre-booked the "Touch a Koala" experience.
  20. That breakdown is just for the three major benefits of the plan. You also receive the 1. Medallion Mailing valued at $10 2. Two Casual dining meals at no cost ($14.99 per meal) 3. The two exercise classes 4. Two premium desserts a day (although I haven't met many people that consider this a benefit. 5. No additional charge if you want to use the app to order food or beverage deliveries. (worth $14.99) 6. Free room service delivery if you order with your phone ($5 value)
  21. I think you have to remember that all of the drinks purchased (water, soda, beer, wine, cocktails) all automaticlly add an 18% gratuity on to the tab. If you have a package the gratuities are included with the drink. At $60 per day per person for plus, if you normally purchase wifi you are at $31 a day just for gratuities and wifi. A $12 cocktail ends up costing you more than $14. Two $12 cocktails a day puts you almost to the $29 you have left and you haven't purchased, coffee, tea, water, soda's or anything else on the list.
  22. If you cancel before 45 days prior to your sailing the air would be cancelled unless you did early ticketing. If you cancel after the 45 days prior you would own the ticket and it would fall under the Airline rules which I believe would give you a credit.
  23. I am surprised you are not able to book seats on Delta, unless it is not a Delta operated flight. (Booked through Delta but operated by a different airline) If you have a Delta Skymiles account, attach your number to your EZAir booking and log into your Delta account online and select your seats. I have always been able to select seats directly on Delta. BTW- It helps with most of the Domestic airlines if you have a Frequent Flyer number attached to your booking, you will be able to see your booking on the airline account when you log in.
