Doug, it was fun meeting you and Sue on the Joy.
I love your reviews but you gotta enjoy the cruise too! I am with Sue in that!
Hopefully Chad and I will meet up with you two again sometime on another cruise!

I know it sucks not to going to Mykonos and Santorini.
But the new times for the ports are much better! You get more time in Dubrovnik, Corfu and In a couple more of the ports. Dubrovnik was such a short stop, it would have been nice to stay longer.

Have a wonderful fun transatlantic! It was great meeting you and Sue on the Joy! Are you going to Miami for the Inaugural at all as well? We will be on her on the 17th.
Looking forward to watching your trip now!

I have read every thread on the upgraded package. I am looking for feedback from those who have actually experienced the upgrade.
I just read a post on a roll call that someone was on Joy a few weeks ago and ordered a bottle of Veuve at breakfast and/or lunch, not just at dinner.
yes, I know it says bottles of wine at dinner.
Has anyone else experienced this?
So we did the Premium Plus (PPB) beverage upgrade and I will tell you for us it was worth it... and we are not heavy drinkers. We were on the Star a couple weeks ago.
But to give an idea:
Fresh OJ 14 glasses (2each morning) 3.00 each
9 bottles of Aqua Panna water with meals 6.00 each
10 bottles of Veuve Clicquot... ok ok.. a lot! But one with every dinner and others enjoyed with friends! I would ask for a glass and they would respond , do you want the bottle? 99.00 each and ask how many glasses we wanted. This was at restaurants and also at Gatsby’s bar outside Le Bistro.
4 Starbucks drink ranged around 5 each .. I do not think it is given on bigger ships where they take the gift cards, but since this was at the Atrium coffee it was.
Remy Martin VSOP a couple times 30.00 each
Whistle Pig rye 35.00 ( Husband wanted to try)Jadot Pouilly Fuisse was 27 a glass.
Plus Pepsi’s like normal and other regular drinks like aperol spritz, beer and coladas, wine etc....It was not hard to make up the extra cover charge for it . Just wanted to give you all an overview on how well it works. The crew was great, the first lunch in Sheehan’s the waitress gave us the bar menus so we knew what we could get. She said some people didn’t realize until half way through .
Hope this helps!

We have returned from the Star today, it did not go to Kotor. Also the time in kephalonia and Dubrovnik was cut short! We had to be back on the ship by 1.30 in kephalonia and 12 in Dubrovnik which meant queuing for the shuttle bus at 11! No explanation given by NCL. I doubt we will book again with them as it is to big a risk to take that they just alter itineraries like this. For anyone going to Dubrovnik with them do yourselves a favour do not use the shuttle bus it is €15 pp it took 55 minutes waiting in line to get on 1 coming back. A taxi is €14 for up to 8 people fixed price. It is a disgrace . Guest services are not interested if you complain either!
We were also explained for the early departure from Croatia had to do with getting back to Venice as well.. the captain is given a time frame to get into port. So to make that , for us it was 6:30 I think it was we had to pull out early to make the window or the ship would have had to wait another two hours to pull back into Venice.
We got to Croatia early so we actually got on to shore by 7 am from the tender so we took advantage of the full morning we had there then got in line before 11:30 as the Line gets long to get on the tender back. -
So we did not make it on the sailing of the 13th to Kotor.
We were given the leaving time of 8:30 from the Harbor Master. I guess there are 5 leaving slots that they rotate the cruise ships thru.
It takes 45 minutes for each ship to get out of the port with the pilot boats. And another 45 for the tugs to get back.
We were told we we have to go 28 knots to make it to Kotor and the ship is max 24. So once there , there are are 3 tender slots... one is 20 minute ride to shore next out is 30 minutes out and the other is 45 out . The shore is too rough and can scratch the ship to port at Kotor.
So if we went we would have gotten off to just have to turn back. They still do the Tech stop to be out of the EU for the taxes for us on board ( so we do not have to pay them the whole cruise)
Hope this explains a bit better! They did a great job explaining it to us all!

Does anyone know if the ship made it to Kotor this week? Trying to gauge if it truly is every other week or if they have found a solution to get there every trip.
I sail on the 13th and we were notified that we are Not going to Kotor, leaving Venice at 8:30pm.
Our itinerary shows the update.
my PCC showed it was for the 13th and 20th sailing .

On my booking it’s listed at the bottom in between a bunch of wording ..... it’s not listed in the promo codes where your pic shows. The Latitude is the right promo code though ....Maybe they changed it. What does it say on your online booking summary on the NCL site?
Does not show any obc. She said it is not to get it, but asked if I knew a name or a reservation number that had it so she could check on it for me.

on your booking confirmation what promo codes do you have? When the 20% off came out last month, my booking had a promo code called LATVIP and there is no OBC listed under Add-Ons on the confirmation
When i called my TA yesterday, my new booking confirmation has both LATVIP and a new promo code of LATITUDE. Under Add-ins i noticed it now it says Free $25 On-Board Credit Certificate Non -Refundable
Make sure you both promo codes on your bookings. it seems like something is missing
It has both those listed . I think revenue didn’t catch it was giving it still and corrected it. 😔

I’ve not seen it advertised on the screen. Are you sure you’re not mistaking it for the $50 shore excursion bonus credit that IS advertised on the screen just above it on a mock booking??
No , I took air so it is not a choice . And I took the beverage and dining package as my perks.
It showed on the right side with the pricing summery where is listed what you picked with the total pricing and deposit . -

The OBC doesn’t show up on site anywhere. Only when you add it to your current booking or booking a new cruise will you see it. It’s not advertised .... only when I was sent a pdf confirmation email and when my NCL cruise summary online was updated did I see the credit. Make sure your 2021 Alaska cruise is included in the extra point and not just the 20% off promo. I don’t think all cruises have both.
Mine has both, was just the 20% last month. But as of yesterday was added to have both.
My new email PDF does not show OBC.
I questioned since I did see it say 50 with the choices , I should have taken a screenshot of it.
-
If anyone with the 20%off and now added the extra point per night and got the Latitudes 50.00 obc, would not mind letting me know a reservation number I would be grateful.
i emailed my PPC to add it to mine for my 2021 Alaska, price stayed the same, just ten more per person for the increased dining plan. But it does not have the obc... I know when I priced it last night it showed and this morning but it doesn’t now when you do it on the site. She asked and they said it is just the extra point. But said she can see if I know of someone else who got it.
thank you !

I'm having a heck of a time finding out exactly what I get with my "Adult Beverage Package". If that's what the deal is I'm good with that.
Here is what is included...

We were not aware of any issue about VAT. We had the drinks package anyway so we would not really have known.
I wish I had asked more about the Kotor situation but I didn’t want to sound as if I was complaining. I knew in advance about the Venice change and I understood why it was happening. My question was “why couldn’t we do the technical stop in Kotor?”. We had lost 3 1/2 hours by leaving Venice late. The stop in Kotor was due to be 5 1/2 hours. Why could we not have done the scenic route into Kotor and had our 2 hour technical stop there?
Do you know for sure that they are visiting alternate weeks? The Star certainly has to be one of the later ships leaving Venice because an MSC ship was blocking her. I wonder what is going to happen going on to next year? The current solution cannot be long-term, but quite a bit of planning would be needed to change the site of the cruise-ship port - jobs will have to move and transport links for thousands of passengers will have to change.
I don’t know for sure, it just seems to be the trend the port master has been doing reading rolls for other weeks .
fingers crossed that we do go!

Was the vat charged on any drinks when you had to leave late the first night? I am thinking my cruise in October might have the same issue. It seems to be every other week the Star has missed Kotor.

It’s what you make of it! I’ve organized a few and always had great roll calls with Cruise critic and most are on another site chatting as well as we lead up.
My latest one past Oct on the Bliss someone created a logo we all bought bags, t shirts etc for it.
Someone bought bracelets that glowed with out tag on one it and gave them out. We did a gift exchange, cabin crawl and a big pub crawl. A lot of us still are in contact and hung out through the cruise.

I'm in the same boat. Last time in November it wasn't on option for me to bundle both Platinum Plus and 250 min perk when selecting my upgraded package online.
But I might ask this time because I was ticked... Once I upgraded my 250 min perk to unlimited, my 60 minutes went away, which I'd have given to hubby to use.
On the Pearl , I just had the Plat minutes, I upgraded to the unlimited and was able to talk to the internet manager. He was able to move my 60 minutes to my husband so he could use his and mine.

Personally I do all room types, I have done Gty Insides to just getaway on a cruise.
I have done mini suites and balconies , and also the Haven. It all depends on the cruise, the ports, how many seadays.
I have never felt like I was treated less being in an inside as I have being in Mini suites. Or even being in the Haven.
Yes it’s great to be able to hang out in the Haven but honestly outside the complex I am the only one who knows I am staying there. There are those who flaunt it but that is a person issue not the room class.
Yes it’s nice to get treats to the room etc but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t. It’s what you make of the cruise. And how you treat others you will get back no matter what your room type is.

That’s pretty much what I said...
Sorry, I thought you said two per person , per day. When there is no limit.

As for wine, this is where I’d take an alternative approach. This is tricky. You can bring two bottles of wine per person per day for cheaper than the drink package upgrade. You do, however, need to factor in the purchase cost of the wine. I think there is a threshold where buying the upgraded package starts to make sense, but I think that’s pretty much only if you intend on drinking premium wine, lots of it, and nothing else. Otherwise, you’re better off bringing a few bottles on board for $15 a pop.
You can bring as many bottles as you would like on Norwegian, you just pay the 15.00 corkage fee per 750ml bottle. So the might work better then the upgrade if you have specific types you enjoy more.

I love the crew, we have made lifelong friends on some ships. I love that you see the officers all the time and are engaging.
The welcome back parties on the pier as well from the ports are awesome. It just feels like coming home when we get on any ship.

We will be boarding the Bliss out of L.A. on Apr 21, 2019. Does anyone know if bartender, Clarense Bennett (AKA Chocolate Cowboy) will be on board for our sailing? We met him in July 2016 on the Escape and he was such a wonderful gentleman. We have heard rumors that he will be returning to the Bliss soon (if not already.) Looking forward to an update on Mr. Bennett's present assignment. Thanks in advance!
He is at home right now on vacation. He will be going back to the Bliss then going to the opening team of the Encore.

I can’t remember when he said he was back on board, I’m sorry!
