  1. We had an amazing time on our cruise a couple weeks ago.

Meet and greet went amazing with around a 100 in attendance and we had 49 at the slot pull!

Here are pictures I took through the week of the ship!

We stayed in a H7 forward penthouse. Will be hard to go back to a regular room!

Balcony is small on this category but being closer to the Haven and having the living room and bedroom made up for it.

  2. I just got my first I phone and I have a few questions. I will be using it for wifi. Usually I bring a table and turn my phone off to avoid charges.

Is there a setting I can use like airplane that will allow me to use wifi but not get constant texts for service?

Also In the Haven is there a docking staiont you can use with the wifi for music?

Thanks in advance for your help!! You guys are the best!

Place your phone on airplane mode. Use the wifi on board to check the I concierge app. It will show your charges and also what is going on on board.

You can pay and use it to msg others and a lower charge to call home.

Our H7 forward penthouse had an alarm clock with a iPhone docking station on it.

  3. There is no breakfast at Margaritaville at this time. Haven guests get it free on embarkation day for lunch, that's it. Will confirm tomorrow.

Casino is not open but I saw at least one table set for a $15 minimum. Will try to check on deck counts.

Embarkation spa specials are a 10/20/30 deal for 3 treatments and 15 bonus minutes for massages booked today. Will get disembarkation in a few days. We are in the haven so get priority and are not walking off so will be limited to printed docs for that one

We just got off the Escape this morning, Margaritaville did have the complementary breakfast set up every morning.

Haven also was able to eat lunch with no charge on embarkation day as well .

  4. I'll be cruising on the Escape with 2 kids (9 and 12) in March. My youngest is somewhat picky, but he won't be happy with the kids menu (nuggets and burgers).

Do the chefs onboard tolerate small changes to their menu items? For example, if there is a piece of fish or meat with a sauce I know my son won't like, can I request it without the sauce?

    Thanks!

No issues!! My husband is picky!! lol he asks for steak and potato and that is it! He never has issues

  5. Hello!

We have sailed on NCL a couple of times, but this is our first time in a Haven suite (yippee!!). I have been avidly reading the posts even though we are not sailing until March 2017. We initially had booked on 14th floor but didn't want to be right under the Garden Café, so switched to 13302. We are 2 adults and 2 children (ages 9 and 12). I have been reading about the size of the balcony on 13 which is the smallest of the H6s, but is it really that "bad"? We have only previously had regular balcony staterooms, so I feel like this will be big to us no matter what. I was going to try to move to 12304 or 12904 but neither are available for our cruise. I can change to a lower level stateroom (ie, 11306 or lower), but am debating about a couple of things that I would love input on.

First, my kids often do like to spend the evenings in the Splash Academy and on 13, we would only need to walk forward on the same floor to pick them up at night. Second, while we will be spending time in the Haven, my kids are going to want to go on the waterslides, etc on the higher floors so 13302 is closer to these. Also, though we need to walk all the way forward, we are still closer to the Haven on 13 than we would be on 9,10, or 11. I also like the window in the bathroom configuration to get more natural light in the bathroom (so that brings me to 10 or 9 at this point).

However, I am worried about the "smaller" balcony and also about possible noise from Spice H2O at night, although, with young kids, we will be in bed with the doors closed after about 10 or 11pm. Not sure if that mitigates the noise issue or not.

So, after all of this:-), I was wondering on your thoughts - would you stay in 13302 or move to another room lower down? Is the balcony size and/or the noise worth it to move and be a little farther away from some of the more important things to us? Love to hear your thoughts. TIA!!

We had an aft penthouse on deck 13 and we did notice any extra noise.

With the door open at night you can hear Spice H20 but with the door closed no issues.

  6. If I upsell from a Spa mini suite on the Epic to a Haven Suite that is not a "Spa" room, assuming we lose the complimentary thermal suite access? I know we keep our original promos, which is fine, just curios about the spa access.

You would loose the spa pass unless you get a Haven Spa suite.

  7. I've been to both. St Marteen several times and St Thomas once. Every time I've been to St Marteen, it's only been on the Dutch side. Always just took the water taxi over and hung out. Told dh last time I want to go to the French side next time. In St Thomas I did a catamaran with a private company. When we got back, did some quick shopping right there at the port. Dh has only been to St Marteen (same thing, hung out on the Dutch side with me).

We are looking at a cruise with our kids in June. This will be their first cruise ever and first trip out of the country. So I am torn between trying to sight see in both places or doing a beach day in one and something else in the other. We will get a beach day in CoCo Kay, so it's not like we won't have a beach day. Any suggestions? I know about Orient Beach on the French side of St Marteen.

St Martin/ St Maarten has some great places for Families, the Lolos in Grand case are great for lunch as well as Orient Beach for a beach day.

Th butterfly farm is also a great day as well.

The Dutch side had Mullet beach, a great beach for families and Maho with the airport, the planes come in low over the beach. You can walk to both from each other.

We spend 10 nights a year there, love the island, both sides!

Here's some pics of Mullet bay and Maho beach and also the lolo's in Grand Case .

  8. If you are in an aft haven penthouse H6, is your service less than if your suite is actually located inside the Haven?

I have read some bad butler reviews with declined requests or annoyance, and wondering if this is because the suite was on deck 9 or 10 aft and far from where their other assigned cabins may be located? I am considering the upgrade and wondering what to expect. I doubt we will have any outlandish requests, but definitely a fair amount of room service.

    Thanks for your kind replies.

Not at all! We had an aft penthouse last month. Our Butler was stealth mode! We had everything we needed and we had breakfast on the balcony the morning of St Thomas and he was at the door right at the time we requested.

We found out he had all aft penthouses to take care of.

  9. What code do you have ?

There are different code for the one for points Latitude and there is Latoffer which is a discount on the cruise.

Normally you can't combine the Latitude with the freestyle promo .

If you booked more then 9 months out and have not changed anything you should get an extra point for that.

Did you change anything on your booking?

  10. In the last two cruises I went on with different cruise lines, the M & G's were very streamlined. They offered coffee, water, juice and cookies or danish - did not have anyone from the crew there. In the past, someone from the cruise director's staff at a minimum was there and at least 1-2 more. What's been your experience?

I just hosted the meet and greet on the Getaway on the October 10th cruise.

They actually had a sign in sheet for us.. Brought name tags. I had forgotten those so it we appreciated that!

The Sn staff came and JC (cruise director) introduced everyone and Sponge Bob even came.

They all walked around for quite a while meeting everyone and hanging out.

They also had the standard treats like cookies etc but also went around with little smoothies and blueberry muffins.

It was a great turn out and a lot of fun.

  11. Thanks for all the YES votes! I really want to do this. I am just afraid I will upgrade and then get an obstructed balcony view. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks for the pics!!!

There are no obstructed balconies on the Getaway! You will be fine! Go for it if you can!

  12. I think an answer to this question would clear up at least some of the confusion. Why is there an increased DSC for suites if it doesn't include butlers and concierge? Perhaps someone has been given this info, I haven't seen it though.

I can speculate... suites are bigger and take longer to clean. As a result, a room steward (given the same amount of time) will clean fewer suite staterooms than smaller staterooms. So the DSC needed to be adjusted for the stewards who only clean 8 instead of 12 rooms.

That's just a guess on my part, but it makes sense.

We were in an aft penthouse and our Room steward has 15 rooms to do, 2 being suites.

Our Butler had 12 rooms...the whole aft of the ship. (This was on the Getaway)

  13. You can add the gratuity for the butler and concierge to your on board account...and, if Im not mistaken, that can come out of the OBC you have, just not the DSC....any one know for sure about the OBC being used for the tips? I seem to have been wrong about everything else, so please let me know if Im wrong about this too...lol

You can use refundable obc.. We did it last week.

It was called a gratuity voucher. It is added to their paycheck at the end of the month.

We got envelopes and put each voucher in it with a note to let them know.

We also tipped the assistant concierge as well since we were told that it is up to the concierge on how much he shares with him. And ours was awesome!!
