  1. Here it is ladies, my dress and those shoes! I bought this dress in Vegas and remember thinking it would have been fun to wear if I happened to be there with a significant other and on the spur of the moment got married by Elvis. However that wasn't meant to be for this dress, as I've been stuck in Singletown for quite a long time now, so I brought it with me on the cruise. :)

Dem shoes tho!!! Love them :)

  2. So, most of the shoes I brought were new. I don't know why I didn't break them in beforehand. Too bad you couldn't join us on this one. The itinerary was probably my favorite s far. Enjoy the rest!

Aww, well I hope your feet weren't hurting too bad. I really wish I could have joined you all, looks like it was a great cruise!! Enjoying this review!!!

Also, I'm doing a B2B on the Breeze next September, and I can't wait for that one. I enjoyed your review of that ship as well. :)

  3. We have sailed with carnival 4 times, and always love it. We are thinking of cruising in January, and found two cruises, both the same week, and both to key west and the Bahamas. One is with carnival, and one is with Royal. The Royal Caribbean cruise is about $300 cheaper. Have any of you ever sailed only with carnival and then switched to Royal? What did you think? We want to save money, but are afraid to make the switch. It'll be just the two of us sailing. Thanks!

I don't see any reason to be afraid. If you enjoy cruising, there is nothing wrong with trying a different cruiseline. I did a B2B on Royal Caribbean last year, and loved it. Overall, my preference is Carnival, but I will sail others. I'm thinking about going on a NCL cruise within the next year or two just to try it out. :)

  4. Yay!! Looking forward to another fantastic review from GaPearl!!! I love your reviews, and can't wait to see the dresses and shoes you wore each evening for dinner. I wish I could wear some of the shoes I've seen in your pics, but I have a bad knee. Thanks for sharing another great review with us! :)

I had considered going on this one, but I was already booked on the Sunshine for Sept of this year, and couldn't do both.

  5. The benefits of FTTF depend on what's important to you. Getting on the ship early, and being able to go straight to my cabin to drop off my carry-on items is what I enjoy. However, sailing out of San Juan, I would not be in such a rush to board the ship because it leaves much later than other sailings. I would choose not to use FTTF on this cruise.

  6. There is actually tax and a 15% gratuity added to the cost of the CHEERS program. It states it in the FAQ section on the carnival website.

I am going on a 4 day sailing on the Sensation and had these same questions. We were instructed there the Carnival Customer Service that the new updates to the CHEERS program states it is for all days of the cruise or no days at all. And they confirmed there is tax and gratuity added to the package. They weren't sure what the tax rate would be but with gratuity it's around $414.

There are also exclusions such as buckets of beer, anything over 10 dollars, and bottles of water among several others.

Good luck and have a great cruise! :)

I was on the Sunshine 9/5/2014 sailing, my brother and I purchased CHEERS on the first day. We paid $345 per person. That was the cost of CHEERS at $37.50 per day ($300) for 8 day sailing and 15% gratuity ($45). I looked at the charges on my receipt, and there was no tax.

  7. Will start this by saying that the ship was in very good shape BUT ready for it's dry dock.

The food was better that normal, the music was as loud as normal. Kevin was the CD with Branden as the Ass. They work well together & are up beat. The staff & crew are some of the best around.

However after we go on the B2B2B that we have booked with friends & family the first of Oct. we will not be going back on any 3-4 day cruises. We had 14 day's of HE double heck.

Any of you that know us know that Larry's signature was his beads on the tiller of his scooter. Well between cruises 2 & 3 they were all taken a lot of them at nap time during the day. Found some of them just ripped off & laying by his scooter.

We enjoy eating at the buffet for dinner but the people were so rude & loud kids just running every where we took some thing back to our cabin.

Tried the Dinning room & it was worse. One large table maybe 10 - 12 people had 196 app. & 221 dinners. Of course they were most sent back untouched.

ORNAN M'D came by us & said he was sorry & gave me a big hug. BUT STILL NOT ENOUGH for me to do that ship again.

Trip four they had three weddings one with over 75 guest's ( very elegant ). Of course we thought here we go again. They were such a nice large group, even invited me to the wedding & reception. Always had a big smile & hello for both of us.

Yes we will keep cruising for the winter, I did move our November booked Sensation cruises over to the Pride. Unless it is really free there will be NO MORE 3 -4 DAY CRUISES for us. Of course these cruises were selling for $99.

to $109. so you can put this all together yourself. If you have questions ask away.

    Love to cruise

    Char

I'm also with you on the NO MORE 3-4 DAY CRUISES. Lol...I enjoy the atmosphere of the longer cruises so much better.

  8. JH posted that they will only play the games in sports bars and not giant screens because of the movies played on them.

I was thinking it may be that way on all of the ships. I just got off the Sunshine this past Saturday from an 8-day sailing. There were 3 days of NFL during the sailing (Sunday games, Mon night and Thurs night) and all of those games were shown in the sports bar. No football games were shown on the giant lido deck screen.

The tv's in the cabins showed the games too, but I know football fans like to watch with others. Will have to go to the sports bar for that. And if you don't get there early, you will be standing because it gets packed quick.

  9. FYI- For those interested in a spa cabin, deck 10 would be the best. There are only two elevators that go to decks 11 and up. I had a balcony on deck 12 and it got frustrating having to wait for those elevators. It is nice and quiet up there, it also took longer than normal to get back & forth to my cabin.

  10. I was on that sailing with you OfcSupport, and had a similar issue in the MDR. We had anytime dining, and it only took me one night to decide not to go back there for dinner. I spent the rest of my evenings alternating dining at JiJi's and Cucina Del Capitano. We also went to the steakhouse one night. I enjoyed those restaurants very much!

Overall, I had a great time and would go again. I had fun with the people I traveled with, and the new friends we made on the ship. If I ever sail the Sunshine again, I will be sure NOT to have a cabin on the 11th or 12th deck. We had a spa balcony on deck 12 and only two elevators go up there. It was frustrating at times having such a long wait for an elevator to get to my cabin.

I had a great cruise, but the Liberty is still my favorite ship! I now have to see if the Breeze will change that. Lol

  11. I would take a different lesson from this....good reason to fly in the day before.

I agree. I always plan a cruise vacation that allows me to arrive at least the day before (flying or driving).

Having a passport is important, but my first priority is getting to the port in plenty of time before the ship leaves. I do not want to start my vacation off by hopping another plane, and meeting the ship somewhere after the cruise has already begun.

  12. Sorry we missed you! :) I hope you had a wonderful cruise on Victory.

Thank you! We really loved Liberty, beautiful ship. It's funny, but I don't have a favorite. I'm partial to all of the ships we've been on.

The price would have to be right for us too, but it sure would be nice to actually see those two ships.

I remember conversing with you when I did my Valor review. How was your B2B on the Jewel to the Southern Caribbean? Our friends were on it a week before you were, I think (Thanksgiving). They really liked it. I hope you had a wonderful time. I would love to do that some day (B2B, Southern Caribbean).

I had a great time on the Victory. And yes, we were conversing about your awesome Valor review.

I had an absolute blast on my Jewel B2B cruise. I remember you telling me about your friends sailing on the Jewel. If they sailed during Thanksgiving, they were coming off the ship the same day I got on.

I loved the Southern Caribbean, and will be going again next year. This time on the Valor. :-)
