Considering an Alaska cruise but need to have a fairly reliable connection. Will there be any long stretches where there will be no service? If I purchase the shipboard wifi package will this remediate the problem? TIA !

Same concerns ziggyuk mentioned. Plus any issues with weather (choppiness of seas, cold, etc). In addition to availability of excursions.

Encore has a few sailings in October. Is this too late in the season ?

Most sites I've read mentioned the cruise season usually ends in October. What's the experience been like for anyone who has taken a cruise in October.

For a port stop. Thinking of going to the new Hollwood Studios - Star Wars.  Trying to maximize time there given will only in port for 1pm-9pm.

FYI I just saw pickle and ketchup chips at the local Target here in New York City.

What kind of weird potato chips did you get? I got hooked on the ketchup chips, and I'll be buying some next year on our Alaskan cruise. Should I be on the lookout for another fun flavor?

I live in NYC so have had the fortunate opportunity to dine at many Michelin starred restaurants. While obviously the MDR is not comparable, when people compare the quality to below Applebees, Red Lobster, etc that is a far stretch.

The food on my recent cruises on the Symphony and Adventure was pretty good and I would compare it favorably to what is served on land at similar price point.

Is OTC Medication much cheaper? I've seen it for sale at some of the Caribbean ports, right next to souvenirs.

In terms of discounts, what items are really good bargains compared to back in the States ?

Was on the Adventure of the Seas a few weeks ago. Generally only when you're in the port area do you get service. When at Sea, I had no coverage.

I've been told that you could ask what was cooking in the crew mess. I've done that once and got really good curry!

The waiters told me when you request Indian, that is different from the Indian they serve in the crew mess. Supposedly less spicy.

Besides Indian, has one had any luck with requesting other foods like Indonesian or Jamaican?

What time would people allocate for tendering/getting off the ship? We're trying to catch a 10am non-ship excursion.
