If you enjoy fog, rain, snow, freezing COLD weather, and virtually nothing being open, you will enjoy it. I have been in Alaska in October on a land trip and it was very pretty, but people who were not prepared for the weather were pretty miserable.

What clothing/gear should we bring for a trip in October? Rainshell, rain pants, etc?

  2. NCL Encore has a few sailings in October. Is this too late in the season ?

Most sites I've read mentioned the cruise season usually ends in October. What's the experience been like for anyone who has taken a cruise in October?

Any issues with weather (cold, choppiness of water), availability of excursions, etc.

  3. I live in NYC so have had the fortunate opportunity to dine at many Michelin starred restaurants. While obviously the MDR is not comparable, when people compare the quality to below Applebees, Red Lobster, etc that is a far stretch.

The food on my recent cruises on the Symphony and Adventure was pretty good and I would compare it favorably to what is served on land at similar price point.
