I promised myself at least one cruise a year until they cart me off to the glue factory. I'm hoping 2021 delivers.
Got my fingers crossed for you 😀

The bigger towns are built to survive the cyclones ,but the villages are usually the worst hit .
Seems the cyclone regularly swing by at Christmas. At least there are no cruise ships up there this season .

What more do they need to say? It seems very straightforward to me.
Come on.
How can the locals get ready when they have no dates.
So you make a booking for when. .?You organise meals and supplies for when?

Bubbles are starting to appear.
"New Zealand and the Cook Islands announce quarantine-free travel bubble.
New Zealand and the Cook Islands will let people travel between the countries without quarantine, its leaders have announced. Quarantine-free travel could start from the first quarter of 2021".Source ABC
No details ,not helpful.A typical Govt announcement ....
Its like the announcement you make ,
when you are not making an announcement .

Are people able to travel anywhere from NZ, albeit with quarantine on their return to NZ?
Technically and Officially yes . Anyone can travel ...however the Official travel advice is
Do not travel .
Many factors come into play ,availability of transport, cancellation of transport which could find you stranded , border restrictions which can be ,and are , subject to sudden change , re entry conditions ,and so on.
I have heard reports of people travelling through Europe having a great time as there is no one else around at the deserted tourist destinations .
The choice and risk is entirely your own .

Yeah - but this is a cruise forum - not too many minimum wage people here. Plenty of kiwis have family living in Australia - so coming over for an extended stay may actually be cheaper than staying home -given your price of living tends to be lower
Some people buy new cars and have a drive holiday.
You have all missed the point of my post .
The fact is , we are not travelling, rather staying home and spending the money we would spent in our own country, thus creating wealth for all.
As far as Kiwis travelling to Au ....no thank you ...not only do we have to isolate on return, but i5 must be in an approved facility and it must be booked in advance or you will be denied the boarding the plane to get home .
An extra 3,000 each just for a holiday in Oz....you must be dreaming.

We will both “profit “ from the outcome
Australians will spend locally and put money back into the economy ,as will N Z..
In fact the predicted post lockdown doom and gloom has not materialised as shops are going gangbusters in the lead up to Christmas .
In one way it’s good to see the money coming back into our local economies rather than being siphoned off shore .

I googled and found out it was put on by the Actors Equity / Union as as fundraiser ,seeking donations for the Broadway casts who have been out of work most of this year . It was only available ,free to air , for 49 hours .
Its been one the most successful shows on Broadway and the dance scenes are amazing .
I sat back with glass in hand imagining I was in the Princess theatre.

The notation says "The uploader has not made this video available in your country". ☹️ Thanks anyway.
Thats a shame .I am getting it loud and clear ,and free .better watch it all the way through before they realise and take it off . -
The full Broadway stage show was posted 1 day ago on YouTube.

Navigator has an interesting history .She was purchased from Russia as a hull and converted into a luxury cruise ship .She was also know for bad vibrations and had a ducktail added to the stern .
from Wikipedia...Seven Seas Navigator is a luxury cruise ship operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises. She entered service for Radisson Seven Seas Cruises in 1999. Ninety percent of her cabins have their own private verandas.[2] She has no sister ships. The hull was constructed by former USSR (Russia) as a satellite tracking ship.[3] The hull was purchased by RSSC and the superstructure was finished by Mariotti Yards, Italy.

With Qantas announcing you will need to be vaccinated for Covid 19 before travel , and other airlines about to follow suit ,it would be a good idea if a vaccination certificate could be digitalised and issued at the time of vaccination
There has always been a certificate , eg yellow fever, but it is a separate card carried with passport. .
For this to work there would have to be some sort of International standard that everyone complies with. I wonder if the powers that be are able to organise something along these lines before mass inoculation begins ?

Due to the backlog caused by COVID-19 , many Christmas toys and gifts are in short supply and scammers are having a field day from people buying on line .

Looks pretty smooth around the bluff now, like a millpond. It is those Antarctic gales that whip up the big seas. No land mass between south west tip of NZ and the Antarctic.
On a calm day it’s sheer magic.!
