  1. Don't think you are nervy at all and I totally understood what you were asking but I did the dining guide to provide information so adding your link adds more information.:)

Gotcha! I figured...just didn't want to assume! I think it's great with all the information people can get online. The more information, the better!

  2. Sarah I have added a link to your blog at the bottom of the dining guide. Thanks for the link.

OH! I wasn't asking for you to add mine (which I'm totally ok with btw!) You must think I'm one nervy chick! LOL I wanted to know if I was ok to add a link on my site to your guide! :D

  3. He/she is wanting to make tons of new friends on the CC page. :D

Also started this thread today ... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2277955 ...

why try to cause drama with a YAGE? Just go and enjoy whatever other cruise line you choose to go with.

Actually, I don't believe OP is trying to stir the pot. I think he/she is just someone ready to make a switch. There have been a lot of changes over the years with Carnival (as will all the lines!) and I know when I was over on those threads there were many ticked off (which happens here too). I think OP is just looking for some honest input from people that have cruised both lines. Just my 2c.

Welcome Terratrac, I'm sure you will be happy with RCI :)

  4. I've cruised both lines. I understand the comment. Basically, when you can get an inside cabin on Carnival for the same price/night as a motel 6 what are you going to attract? Trust me, I'm not bashing Carnival in anyway, shape or form. I've cruised Carnival, had a great time on ALL cruises and have absolutely no problem cruising with them again. The bottom line, they are a fantastic bang for your buck.

I like RCI better mainly because of the clientele and the decorating. It's a heck of a lot more subdued. Carnival's can be obnoxious. Fun? Yes, but I find the gaudiness wears thin by day 3. I like the overall feel on Royal. However, I actually prefer the food on Carnival and find the cabin stewards out of this world with Carnival while on RCI it's been hit or miss. That said, this is just my own personal experience and should judge all as that isn't fair. Every steward is different and it can be luck of the draw.

In any event, I hope that helps :)

  5. Since I couldn't find one on RCI's website I decided to make my own.

Lots of people from the CC community posted different links that helped a lot in compiling the info. Hopefully there aren't too many mistakes.

It can be found at http://ladiesofportrichmond.com/Allurediningguide.html

    I hope it helps somebody.:)

    Hi Bill,

    FANTASTIC dining guide! WOW!

Are you ok I with me adding a link on GoingOnTheAllure.blogspot.ca/? If you would like me to remove it I totally understand :) I've listed it under "Ship Info" just under the countdown clock.

  6. If you have a dining time (6pm, 8:30) it's assigned, so no reservations required. If you have MTD, you can either make reservations online on your cruise planner under dining (when it's released for booking approx 100 days or so out) OR show up when you want to dine. It's recommended to have your MTD reservations prebooked, however it isn't necessary. You may have to wait longer if you do not have reservations. You can also make reservations on board as well.

  7. Thanks for your opinion! I DID in fact do the research, and felt that due to the potential for traffic jams on the way back to the ship, visiting Moho Beach by taxi or bus was not a risk that we were willing to take. I heard a Captain say once that he has had more passengers miss sailing in St. Maarten than any other port! :)

I have this excursion booked for February. I booked it solely because of the traffic. I experienced being stuck in that traffic a few times going from Simpson Bay (between Maho and Phillipsburg - very close to Maho) to Phillipsburg. It can be NASTY. On one trip it took 45 minutes....the next was well over an hour. I would only cab it if there were few ships in port. When we go in Feb, I think there are 5 or 6 ships....one being the Allure, which we are on so there is NO way I'm wasting 2+ hours in stop and go traffic and stressing about time.

  8. basically you have a credit on you account. If you purchased 500 USD (550 CAD) and do not spend it all you will be credited the amount you didn't use back onto the credit card you used to purchase the OBC.

When you set up your on board account, just use whatever credit card you would normally use. I have a USD visa with TD and use that. If you are planning on using a CAD credit card, no problem. Just realize that all purchases on board are in USD. Therefore your credit card will convert to CAD at THEIR rate (which is usually a few points more). OR you can set up a cash account on board but you will have to make sure you have USD as they won't accept CAD.

    Hope that makes sense!

  9. They go FAST....but realize there has been a ridiculous price increase so they aren't moving nearly as fast as they used to. For our Dec. cruise they popped up around the 100 day mark to book online. They are still available over a month later. If you can't get one, do NOT wait until the port day....they will more than likely be all gone. Best bet is the excursion desk immediately after you board. And I mean immediately!
