  1. The fact of the matter is that NCL is a business and it will do what it has to to make a profit. People saying they will not book suites now because of this I either don't believe or honestly do not think it matters because there will be someone else to take your spot.

People saying non suite guests are looking down their noses at suite guests....really? Most I've read in this thread are (some) suite guest apalled that non suite guests would get to pay to eat in the same room as them! The horror! don't worry it's a cruise ship - you won't go hungry! Really, that's the way it comes off not saying anyone said that in particular.

Don't worry though your cagneys is safe from me.

  2. Deposits I've always paid is either 500 or 250 when they have their sales. That's for 2 people in a cabin. If you do a mock booking on the ncl website the last page will show you deposits amount and final payment due dates..

  3. I agree, a great week with a few hiccups along the way - the weather could have been a little nicer, my snorkelling excursion in Nassau was cancelled - however my kids loved seeing the water spout.

Anyone else wonder what the big hold up was at disembarkation at NYC yesterday morning? This happened one person in front of me on the gangway. A real piss off as we got stuck waiting for more than 30 minutes, and security should have realized that there were children witnessing this. This took place around 915am through the exit by the photo gallery.

    Part 1

    Part 2

I was travelling with a Future Cruise Consultant from another cruise line who also witnessed this and said that the NCL staff did a very poor job at dealing with this situation. In fact, this was not the only incident that I witnessed while on this cruise. We also happened to witness an assault at the guest services desk. My oldest son also mentioned there was a big fight in one of the clubs and there was a fair amount of blood on walls and carpets.

We as a group have decided to never travel on a ship out of NYC again, a different class of people in our opinion.

Wow that is insane! I've only ever cruise out of NYC and I have never seen anything like this before. It's a real shame the way this way handled. Security really needs to learn how to take control of situations on cruise ships from this video And others I have watched on YouTube. The security always seems to be very passive when it comes to confrontations. i wonder if they really have any authority at all? Since they are in port I wonder why they wouldn't have just contacted the police who could have cuffed her and taken her away from the crowd...

  4. We stayed in an inside on deck 5 on the breakaway I think they are identical ships though...while the room itself was quite small there was a decent amount of storage. The bathroom was really nice too with lots of space to put things! We had the beds together so if you have them apart it may make the room feel larger.

  5. I stink at packing. Usually I tend to over pack my oversized suitcase with every piece of clothing that I own and usually end up not using 3/4ths of it. I've downsized to a normal suitcase for my upcoming cruise and I'm already anxious about how I'm going to pack everything! Hah! On the other hand I'm a horrible under packer for short weekend trips. I always forget something....

  6. But according to your cruise history you haven't cruised in almost a year, and things change. If someone posts current MDR menus do you dispute the post's accuracy because the menus a year ago were different?

They've been pretty consistent in forcing passengers to go across the street...maybe not 100% of the time, but it's their intent to do that, and in the good old fashioned NY manner they make the intent quite clear. You might be able to go upstairs if they don't catch you, but don't count on it.

Geez sorry to offend! Just stated what has been my experience! I never disagreed with anyone! I guess no one should state their experience cruising unless they just got off the ship!

  7. The cabin catergory I have booked for my cruise next month has gone up slightly. It was sold out online for a period of time then came back with a higher price. I'm extreMky happy with what we paid though because they had the kids sail free promo before final payment. Prices aren't guaranteed to go down once final payment hits, it could also go up.

  8. Just wondering. Does anyone else still get just as excited for their next cruise as they did for their first?? I do. It never gets old. Plus we have the internet and cruise critic now that didn't exist back in 1986 when I took my first cruise. I love cruising, but I also love planning for the cruise. My family thinks I'm obsessed but in the end they love the research and information that I share.

I get so excited before each cruise. The day before and morning of the cruise are the worst. The day before goes by sooo slow!! It's worse than Christmas Eve when I was a kid!

  9. I feel sorry for people who live in fear of strangers. Must be miserable.

I go on vacation to get away from people and relax. I have to do the small talk with strangers 40 hours per week. Laugh at not so funny jokes, seem interested in strangers tales....it is not something I'd find so enjoyable on a paid vacation. I like the company of my husband who I don't get to see for those 40 hours I'm listening to strangers. This is one reason I don't go on the ships where they have traditional dining.
