  1. Its quite obvious he picks Whitney especially since he only asked one family about marriage. Besides, she is the only one with half a brain and doesnt take part in much of the gossip and HS antics that went on all season. I just dont understand how she would be a good match for him when she has a career she absolutely loves and obviously cant continue doing that out there in Arlington Iowa. I give it 6 months tops and then she goes right back to Chicago.

  2. I got off the BA on Friday; in any restaurant, say between 6 and 8PM, if you didn't have a reservation, chances are you'd be handed a beeper to be called when a table was available. Taste and Savor always had the same menu; Manhattan was the same, maybe with a few extras, but not necessarily. I never saw shorts at dinner; I did see capris. It was the same in January 2014 as well.

OH since I 'have' you and you just got off the ship, do you recall there being bars right outside the 3 dining rooms so I can sit and have a drink with my beeper. :)

Thanks for everything......Shorts I would never wear at dinner but never been on a cruise that allowed jeans in the DR. This is new for me. I usually travel on Princess.

  4. The menus may be different, at least that was true on the Getaway last year. Only difference in the dress code is that there are no shorts in the Manhattan Room. You may make reservations at any of them, but they're typically not necessary.

Although I highly doubt I would do it, do people wear jeans in the the Manhattan Dining Room for dinner?

  5. I have not cruised on NCL in years but am considering a cruise with them in 2 weeks. (Short notice I know but I live in Manhattan).

I see this promo of Family Choice plus but I am confused if you get all three aspects of the deal for free with a mini-suite booking. I keep reading all three are free (OBC, Dining and Beverages) when you book a suite or Haven room but not sure if that includes a mini-suite. I don't see a plain old suite on the Breakaway so I am not sure what they are talking about when they say suite.

If the deal doesn't include all 3, what is the point of ordering a mini rather than a balcony other than the bathtub?

Is this Family Choice Plus deal only available if you book directly with NCL?

  6. It depends on the itinerary and the location of the cabins. I turned down an upgrade from a balcony to a mini for a very small amount as we were booked into C752 on Grand Princess and we wanted that specific cabin.

I don't think there is any pat answer to your question. For many people the answer "it depends" is probably the best one you will get.

If I remember correctly, C752 is an aft balcony and I wouldnt let go of that one either.

    As for itinerary, Panama Canal.

  7. If Princess called you and said, on your upcoming cruise, we will upgrade you to a mini-suite from your balcony room for $XYZ, what would you be willing to pay to upgrade for two people?

Also, if you were deciding on a room initially, what would you be willing to pay extra for the jump from a balcony to a mini for 2 people?

To some they may sound like similar questions but I dont think they are.....

  8. I have noticed occasionally at an airport that a person gets pushed up to the boarding area in a wheel chair, they get out of their chair to walk to the bathroom or to a food area, and then sit back in their chair and get pushed on the airplane first. These handicapped scammers give people who genuinely need the help a bad name.

Unfortunately, businesses can not and even if they could will not ask for proof of a handicap before they provide these people the help that some of them do not need.

Before I get flamed, I do not understand how someone who can walk to the rest room or can walk to and wait for food can not walk the short distance to the plane.

    DON

My mother is 76 and had a hip replacement several years ago. She can walk a NYC block or two but thats about it. Head on over to see JFK airport and then you will realize why she can go to the restroom there yet not walk across the airport to her gate......she isnt a scammer nor is anywhere in JFK a short distance especially with even a small carry-on. Dont be so quick to judge.

  9. Have only done one Princess cruise on the Crown in it's first year. It was very nice but our 20 th cruise was on Equinox which was my favorite ship of all time.

Good luck in whatever you select.

what did you love about the Equinox? I dont think its fair to compare the Princess product or Crown of 20 years ago to Island/ Coral and the new ship Royal but I appreciate the input. I think all cruise lines have a much better product even over the last 10 years in my own cruising experience.

  10. I have traveled on several cruise lines, including RCI, Carnival, NCL and Princess with Princess being my favorite and definitely most often.

I am considering a December cruise on Princess to the Panama Canal (which I have done and liked a lot) on the Island or Coral. However, I am also considering a Caribbean cruise and see one available on Celebrity Equinox. Bother cruises are 10 days. Princess has a similar Caribbean cruise on their new Royal Princess for 10 days in December as well to similar Caribbean islands for 10 days.

If price were not in the mix, which would you guys choose......Royal Princess going to the Caribbean, Celebrity Equinox going to the Caribbean or Island/Coral heading to Panama Canal with parts of the Caribbean.

I am leaning slightly towards the Canal trip but Ive done it once before (but loved it so would not mind at all to do it again). Furthermore, on the Royal and Equinox, they go to some islands I have never been like Barbados, Curacao, Grenada and St Lucia. Are any of those islands an absolutely MUST?

What are the pros/cons of Princess Royal/Island/Coral vs Celebrity Equinox? Is the Celebrity product significantly better or quite the same as Princess?

  11. I did a tour that included the Turtle Farm. To be perfectly honest, I wasnt so sure I would like it but I did. I think its a 20 minute stop tops but it is nice to see. They are beautiful. I was lucky in that I was there when they did a feeding. It was a free for all and quite funny. If its included in a tour, than I would go but paying that price on its own to get in is ridiculous.

  12. What does a driver cost for the day?

My sister and I are puzzled on what to do there, so we figure this is the best thing to see the island.

There will be 6 ships there including ours. I assume that affects the price, or maybe we should book in advance?

I just got back from my Princess cruise and one of the stops was Cozumel. We booked Tours Plaza for a private tour about 2 weeks before the cruise. We gave suggestions as to what we wanted to do. We requested Alberto based on the TripAdvisor reviews. The minimum price is 107 for 3 hours and 25 for each extra hour. Admission prices to whatever you wanted to do as well as drinks were not included. I placed a deposit of 62 dollars down. The communication was excellent with the company.

On the day of the trip, there was a HEAVY downpour and we were going to do the tour but the weather got worse! I met Alberto after trying to call (my cell did not reach the owner of the company for some reason) and told him I wanted to cancel. He agreed that it was not a good day to tour. Eventually the company agreed to give us back about 90% of our deposit which was very nice. I felt this was fair as they had to pay some costs for paypal etc.

If I had to do a private tour in Cozumel, I would highly recommend Tours Plaza based on the communication and their fairness/customer service.

  13. I am interested in:

-Turtle Farm/Boatswains Beach (1 to 1 1/2 hours or so as we wont swim there)

    -Tortuga Rum Cake Factory tour

-Stop at 7 Mile Beach (doesnt have to be long but just so I can view it and maybe grab a drink)

    -CayBrew Brewery tour

*I could give or take Hell

I have tried Shoretrips, Tours Cayman (doesnt operate that day), Capt Marvins (they dont do everything).

Anyone suggest a private operator for 2 people to handle us for the time it takes to see these places?

  14. We took a custom private jeep tour in Cozumel with cozumelcruiseexcursions.net and recommend checking their reviews out on Tripadvisor. We were able to customize our own jeep adventure, and included food, beer, Punta Sur Park Pass, Mexican lunch, snorkel tour and more for $69 per person. We had a great time and hope this information is helpful for someone else.

Every post I see from you even on other boards is about this tour company.

  15. Thanks for the suggestion. I saw this tour listed. I am really not too interested in touring with a caravan of jeeps. I did find several tour companies that have private tours for about 50-60 dollars per person for 3 hours. We make our own itinerary. The min # of people is 2 so it works for us. The drivers are bilingual and some companies include drinks and lunch and some don't. An extra hour is usually 25 dollars. I am debating between using Safe Tours or Tours Plaza. I think either company would be very good and both are listed in the top 20 activities on Trip Advisor. I am leaning towards Tours Plaza for 4 hours. Both companies have excellent reviews.
