Like so many things nowadays, it seems like it is a 'franchise'. On Oosterdam last week we had Cantare too, so unless HAL has hired 'Scotty' from 'USS Enterprise' and the Transporter is functioning, then there is a lot more than one Cantare. 🤣

The 2022 European season has been short on “Live from” threads so far, so I am starting a “Nearly Live from the Oosterdam” during her 12 day Mediterranean Empires cruise departing from Venice/Trieste on Monday June 13th. This will be only Oosterdam’s 4th cruise since returning to service, so it will be interesting to compare this cruise to the one we did last October on Eurodam also in the Med. Unfortunately, no Tamarind, but I am sure we will manage to forage enough calories from the other dining locations. We booked this cruise in April during a ‘flash sale’ and got a Guarantee Verandah for a very good price. Since then we added ‘Have it All’ and have taken advantage of HAL’s exchange rate to pre pay ‘Crew Appreciation’. Last week I called Inventory and purchased an upgrade to a Signature Suite for a great price. Overall we are very happy with the amount that the cruise is costing. Airfare, now that is a different story! Also it appears that hotels in Venice are trying to recoup the last two years of nearly zero income by charging substantially more this year compared to last. Anyway, our plan is to fly from Cork to Venice with Ryanair (direct flight) on Saturday 11th and stay 2 nights in the Hilton Garden Inn in Mestre. We have a private transfer booked to take us from the hotel to the port on Monday morning. Anyone else travelling? Do feel free to add to the thread. Good morning and welcome to the May edition of Dry Docks, Charters and Groups. The Dry Dock situation continues to be a puzzle. Volendam and Zaandam were in Cadiz for longer than 3 weeks. There does not appear to be a gap in Nieuw Amsterdam's schedule during 2022/2023 for her overdue dry dock and Nieuw Statendam is getting close to dry dock time. On the Charters front, there continues to be gaps in sailing schedules, but I cannot find any information on what is happening to the ships during those gaps. I would expect a substantial increase in Group bookings over the coming months as the Groups find their appetite for cruising and HAL enjoys the benefits of a block booking and probably substantial deposit. Please note that the sailings listed are taken from various sources so it is possible that the itinerary does not coincide with the currently published HAL itinerary. I have been informed by HAL that this seasons sailings which are listed as sailing from Venice will instead sail from Trieste. I have not yet received confirmation as to where check in will be located.....Venice cruise terminal or Trieste (or both). snip of email...... The 2022 Oosterdam voyages have recently been amended to be sailing from Trieste, rather than Venice, & we are still in the process of updating our reservation systems & the website to reflect this. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Holland America Line will be providing transfers to Trieste for all guests, although pricing & times for these transfers are pending. We hope to have these by April 11th.
