  1. Dusko, at great expense i have undertaken to cruise on Ovation for 24 days from Barcelona to Amsterdam to test the bikes in the gym for you🙄

This 10 day section from Barcelona to Lisbon has a rather slack group onboard. Normally when I hit the Gym between 6 and 7 am it’s very busy, so far no-one, nothing, zilch,  people in there.

It doesn’t even smell like a gym, no sweaty bodies! ( I’m loving it.)

Today is a sea day, so far no one this morning ( I was there at 0545) but I’ll check later.

Some of my photos of the gym, the bikes and the bike screen:-

(and for the technical out there (like ab21au) I’m consistently getting Wi-Fi speeds of Download 11 Mbps and Upload between 2 and 6 Mbps. These 6 photos took 5 minutes to load at 7am, at sea off Portugal)

  2. Here is a list of the beer CURRENTLY* available on Ovation sailing off the coast of Spain, having come from cruising in Asia.

i would expect more variety as we head further north.

    * might not be the same tomorrow🤔

  3. Back in March of this year I posted that I had paid A$400 deposit to secure preferential booking on the expedition ships.

last night I received an email with this attachment:-

“How to win friends and influence people”.

For a start I have never booked or sailed in a V1, I HAVE  been to Antarctica (on Quest)  AND I expect to choose when, where and how I cruise.

I will be cancelling this booking and asking for my deposit to be transferred to a future cruise deposit.

Someone in Seabourn marketing needs to go back to school.

  4. When we sailed “Route of the Vikings” (Dover UK to Boston) in 2016, Quest had just done a 16 day circumnavigation of the UK, and the Bar Manager had bought Boutique beers in every port; so we had an amazing selection, with a great many dark beers.

    What cruise are you doing?

Smart casual. A collared shirt is all that is required for men, and that includes short sleeved polo shirts. We typically wear dark jeans or slacks and polo shirts. TKG is the ideal location for dinner on formal nights if you don’t enjoy formal nights 🙂

Currently on Ovation, this is a photo of the dress code from the booklet in our suite; short sleeved polo shirts are not a dress shirt

Is there the same power outlet configuration on both sides of the bed?  Can I assume that the power outlets on OVATION will be the same as Encore?

On Ovation the power outlets are the same on both sides of the bed.

Plus there are 4 more of this type.

    One at the entrance desk

One above the shelf at the foot of the bed

    One behind the TV

One just under the glass topped table

Some of us are not as intelligent as others but if you have enough intelligence and have the ability to do a little research you might actually learn something.

The website Grammarist has the following definition of debark:

To debark is to disembark, which is to get off of an airplane or ship or other mode of transportation. Both can also be the act of removing someone or something from the same vessels. Both have noun forms of debarkation and disembarkation, which refer to the location the person debarked at.

    And...

The dictionary definition of the "verb" debark with respect to a ship or aircraft is as follows:

    de·bark1
    /dēˈbärk/
    verb

    1. leave a ship or aircraft.
"we debarked from our cruise ship for a day of fun"
      • unload (cargo or troops) from a ship or aircraft.

I read this today on the back of  the Seabourn luggage labels, (note “debark”underlined in red)

. Seabourn's chefs are more than capable of producing incredible meals without celebrity; in fact I think they do better because they understand better what people fed 5 times a day actually want to eat.

rols, you are so soooo right 👍😀

  9. It’s not the bandwidth, Seabourn block gaming sites.(to protect the on board casino franchise?)

I can’t even check online to see if I’ve won $50 m in lotto, (so I can retire and be a constant Seabourn traveler🤔🙄🤣)

I can’t answer re Facetime etc is available, but remember the satellite service is s-l-o-w (although Ovation is meant to be faster)

You have 12 port days on your cruise, so you should be able to connect to the cruise terminal**wi-fi is Ovation is close, otherwise take the shuttle into town and find a cafe with free wi-fi and buy a coffee.

Even some of the On-Off buses have wi-fi.

** No cruise terminal in Bordeaux

What is the dress code in the TK grill on formal nights ?

As cece50 wrote,: Formal night dress only applies to the MDR, however the 20 or so times that we had dined in TK since it was introduced we have found that most people seem to treat it as a more dressy occasion than in the Colonnade. Even more so on the Encore (and I assume Ovation as well)

Those pictures in the brochures also show nothing but beautiful people on board. Does that mean if I'm not beautiful I'm not adhering to the Seabourn "looks" code?

Isn’t beauty “in the eye of the beholder” ?

My wife and I always have a good chuckle when a new Seabourn brochure arrives. DW usually says, “never seen anybody that looks like this onboard”

Seabourn have been using mostly the same photos for years now.

I was watching “Able Seaman H” excellent video yesterday taken on Sojourn , didn’t see any of the Seabourn model types.

  12. Kayaking for the first time is a bit like riding a bike, you feel a bit wobbly at first, but soon become used to it.

The Ventures team will run you through it before you go on the water.

Do you have somewhere local where you can try kayaking before you go ?

Try a tandem if possible because that is what you’ll be using. In Norway.

Plenty of instructional videos online e.g.

  13. We were aboard Seabourn Quest in St. Petersburg in 2015 and took 2 of the ships tours, one during the day by coach (only 2/3 full) which was excellent.

The highlight was a “Seabourn Event”, a late Evening tour of Catherines Palace that was closed to the public. We were divided into groups of about 10 persons with a guide and all given wireless headsets, then went room-by-room.

I’m a keen photographer so I kept one room ahead of our group and managed to take photos of each room with no others  there, (however I could still hear our guide through the headphones describing the room that I had just left)

We were also allowed to take (non-flash) photos of the Amber Room. (normally not permitted)

Afterwards we listened to a small orchestra  and watched a Ballet performance in the Ballroom while we sipped Champagne.

It was a most memorable evening.

Unfortunately this handheld photo of the Amber Room is not very sharp

    Hi

Received email today from TA with attachment from Seabourn, prices are a bit much on top of fare already paid so we will respectfully decline.

Initially I misread the prices and I thought that $349 for an upgrade to a Penthouse sounded a reasonable deal.

It wasn’t until I went back and expanded the print that I realized it was $3,499 pp !🤔🙄😳

We are going to be on our first Seabourn sailing and I was wondering if SB will honor our HAL 3 Star Mariner with nearly 170 nights at a similar level the way the airlines do?  For example as an Emerald on One World, I receive similar perks on AA, BA, IB and other airlines.  If they don't I wish they did.......

It would be nice, you would already qualify for your complimentary 7 nights😳😀
