  1. I went back and re-read the Passage Contract terms on the Seabourn (Australia) website after reading this post.

    https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/legal-privacy-australia/cruise-contract.html

Interestingly it doesn’t include a lot of the wording quoted above by BoatBoy12, however I am fairly positive that the pre-cruise check-in (that insists that you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, then tick accept) has a different (U.S.?) contract to the Australian site.

  2. On our last cruise, I was given the choice of 12 Single Malts;  so as I’m “over” Laphroaig,  I tried a different one each evening, until I found a couple that appealed to me.

BTW Saminina,  there was a 12 y.o. on offer.

  3. Cutting it fine to catch a 10.45 am fight, it’s doable but only if all the stars align. (Tide, Traffic, Dockworkers Go-Slo etc)

Pity to ruin a nice cruise by feeling rushed.🤔

Are you heading back to LAX ?

I see that Aer Lingus has a direct 11 hour flight in their A330, DUB - LAX departing at 2.55pm on September 28.

  4. I had a closer look at the Cruise Critic gym photos and the bikes are by “Techno Gym”.

    Here’s a link to their website https://www.technogym.com/au/products/shopby/product_type-group_cycling-exercise_bikes.html

The Ovation bikes appear to be either the “Forma”  or the “Excite”

Have you considered bringing one of your own bikes with you ?  (Or might that end in divorce?)

I have seen pax in the past wheeling bikes off the ship, it would be a good workout around some of those Norwegian mountains, especially the road following the train line up from the pier at .Flåm (Aurlandsfjord)/Norway

Do you really expect a super luxury line like Seabourn to have cushions on their loungers? or for that matter veranda furniture that isn't new or not rusted?

I assume your comment “cuddles115” was in jest, as we have sailed over 250 nights with Seabourn in 8 years and have never seen shabby or rusted furniture.

We were on Quest in Canada in September 2016, when they replaced ALL the (what I thought was fine) pool and veranda furniture.

Are the pool lounge chairs on all seabourn ships comfortable with nice cushions ? I have not seen cushions in pictures but I assume they have them since every luxury cruise ship (and luxury hotel) seems to have very comfortable pool loungers.

Agiain, nope, but they’re a synthetic fabric, (Photo)  that I ( and I’m not that well padded) find quite comfortable.

There are plenty of towels if you need padding😀

Can see outside deck on a few deck plans of the Odyssey and Encore at the back of the ship but no seating is drawn in. Are there any comfortable lounge type seating on either boat where one can sit and have a drink after dinner similar to the Panorama Lounge on Silver Muse.

I searched through my ship photos and  I’m surprised how few I have of the rear decks, (these are all from Encore)

The first photo is of the rear of Deck 7, outside Seabourn Square. (I’ve smudged out faces)

The second photo is of the rear of Deck 8, outside the TK Grill ( which isn’t used by TK diners, as TK doesn’t allow Al fresco dining!) but we found it great to use for Breakfast, Elevenses and Lunch on a packed Med cruise in July.

No lounges but a great spot.

The third photo is the rear of the superstructure on Deck 10 at the sky Bar, not at the stern but shows the type of lounge furniture more clearly.

  8. I forgot to mention, it doesn’t seem to matter where you are on Seabourn, a drink waiter always seems to find you ! (CCTV)

My wife and I were “hiding out” late one morning on “Quest” on one of the  2 small decks behind the Grand Salon (Rear Deck 6) a few years ago (before they were used for Zodiac storage)

We had just made ourselves comfortable when a waiter bearing a tray with drinks appeared !

Another early morning (5am) on “Pride” off Oman, 3 of us pax were at the Sky Bar watchiing the transfer of the weapons from a supply vessel for our “Anti-Pirate Marines”  when a waiter appeared bearing a silver service with coffee and cakes.😀

  9. I haven’t been on Silver Muse but on Seabourn there is comfortable seating  on the rear of Decks 5, 6, 7, 8,  (& 9 on Encore & Ovation). Also 10 if you count the Spa area rear deck.

The rear decks on Encore and Ovation are much larger than on the the “O” ships

We have sailed Seabourn Quest and Sojourn and I like their size.    We are now sailing on the Azamara Journey . We are in the lowest category suite so the cabin size is larger than normal verandas on Seabourn.

My apologies, Covepointcruiser, I think I misunderstood what you wrote; did you mean that the cabin size on Journey is larger than a  normal 65 sq ft. “veranda only”, on Seabourn, ie the cabin is 156sq, ft which is larger, in fact more than twice as large? 😉

We have sailed Seabourn Quest and Sojourn and I like their size.    We are now sailing on the Azamara Journey and have found it quite comparable with the Quest and Journey.    We are in the lowest category suite so the cabin size is larger than normal verandas on Seabourn.   There are two specialty restaurants included in the suite price.   You also receive one bag of laundry a week, more if you are a captains club member.   Wines and drinks are also included.   There is a charge for higher end alcohol and better wines.   It’s a very similar product and they have some interesting itineraries.   There are two special events a cruise, one being a white night party at the pool with staff and the second being an off ship event such as a musical event in one of your overnight ports.    This line is worth a try.

    You’re kidding, aren’t you ?

    On you on Azamara’s payroll?

Journey is smaller than the “O” Class Seabourn ships, with a pax capacity of over 700 v. 450 on Seabourn. Journey”s space ratio is <43 v Seabourn’s  72.

You have to move up to a “Club Spa Suite” to have a similar size to Seabourn”s standard suite

I am happy for you that you are enjoying the ship, I’ll stick withSeabourn

There is one outlet up on the wall that is 110 and 220.  I'm not sure if your water pick power cord will reach it so I would bring a 2 prong extension cord.  (The arrow on the above picture accurately shows the location)

Just make sure your electrical items don’t  use many more watts than an electric shaver, otherwise you’ll be tripping the circuit breaker all the time (Seabourn understandably get a bit picky about this !)

How do you go about ordering a box lunch to take on an independent tour?  We would like to try this also when we are going independently  a couple of days to some scenic locations but little in the way of towns.

Just ask at Seabourn Square or phone Guest Services, the day prior.

  14. Those photos were from our Jul/Aug ‘17  cruise in the Med, unfortunately by wife shattered her hip at Barcelona Airport before we arrived at the ship and couldn’t climb stairs or walk very far.

However she still managed to get on and off the tender! ( “stoic” I think would describe her attitude for that cruise !)

She came home in a wheelchair and had a full hip replacement a few days later.

Any questions you can email me if you wish at my “moniker”  plus at gmail dot com

  15. Hmm, I seem to remember a shaver point only in the bathroom (wet area with pipes so any electrical short. straight through you to earth).

That’s why the hairdryer is at the desk in the passage

Depends on the wattage of your appliances as to wether you could use them in the shaver point.

Red arrow points to shaver point
