    Walking the deck after dinner. Usually very few people at that time and we love to hear the sounds of the sea.

    Sent email New Zealand time on Tuesday (1am Seattle time), received a reply 32 hours later. Excellent service from Holland America staff.

    Go over to the Rollcall. There is plenty of activity there.

    One morning I sent in a note of thanks to the laundry crew. A few hours later there was a knock on stateroom door - it was the head of housekeeping to say a personal thanks. He said that they get many complaints about (minor) things but very few words of praise.
