  1. In my upcoming Panama Canal cruise, April 18, 2019, Volendam my boarding pass says the Embarkation time is 1.00 pm.

Isn't this contrary to the usual time of 11.00 am?

I hate to miss the lunch at MDR.

Should I just ignore this and try to board at 11.00 am?

They pester the heck out of you until you book a cruise!  :classic_biggrin:  My PCC will email weekly and leave phone messages until I either: 1) book a HAL cruise with her; or 2) book a HAL cruise with someone else.  About two weeks after I return from the cruise the "harassing" begins again.  Obviously, she works on commission but it does get annoying.

Same experience for me until I politely asked her to stop doing it.

  3. If you worked through a TA maybe their can get hold of a supervisor and get you some shipboard credit.

It was precisely my TA who told me that I am out of luck.

They will allow me to upgrade with the regular additional price.

Other than locking down a particular cabin, flight and hotel, sometimes it doesn't pay to book prior to final payment dates,

  4. I'm saddened to hear that your wife was subject to such boorish behaviour from your fellow passengers.

From the first time we cruised my husband has had to deal with at least one passenger thinking he is crew. He is Chinese but to some it seems being Asian is enough to justify that assumption. In the past he's been asked for towels, drinks and directions, and even once had a HAL staff member try and usher him through the crew check in line in Amsterdam ... We usually laugh it off but there has been the odd passenger who has upset him. One lady prodded him with her cane as he was walking by the pool on the Koningsdam. She was berating him for there being no clean towels available and when he explained he wasn't crew she said he shouldn't walk around looking like a crew member then ... We've yet to see any other crew members in a pair of green flowery swim shorts and not much else !!!

Same thing has happened to me (Chinese) before on a Formal night. I was wearing my 'tux' and a lady asked me for more butter when I was sauntering out of the MDR. In order to have a little fun I told her I need to 'service' the other lady (my wife) first. That's when she noticed my fancy bow tie and cummerbund, and she blurted out ' oh, you are not the captain!?

We both had a good laugh.

  5. I am going on a 22 days reposition cruise, Panama Canal on the Oosterdam on April 7, 2017.

Does the MDR menu repeats itself sometime for the duration of the cruise?

Or is it different every night?

  6. Booking a cruise a year in advance and on e-docs we are still waitlisted for early dinner. The e-docs say anytime dining.

We were told that they always waitlist and as the cruise gets closer they assign tables. Apparently not.

We had anytime dining on Princess and hated it. Now I was pregnant at the time and had to eat early. The service was awful (we were ignored while waiters sat at tables around us and talked). I left in tears most nights and we were in no way demanding.

So that tainted me for anytime dining. I hope HAL does it better. But I am bitterly disappointed that we will not know until we board. I am usually stressed by just flying to the USA and this will just add to it.

    Something is missing here.

I booked the same cruise a month ago and got assigned fixed early dining immediately. My personal cruise consultant arranged that.

I would definitely check with whomever you booked the cruise with.

  7. On formal night the Captain hosts people for dinner in the main dining room. It's exactly what it says---the Captain's table. He only dines there on formal nights, and the table that he uses is usually left empty on the other nights. On the night we dined with him, some of the menu items were from the specialty restaurant, Murano.

    Thanks.

Took quite a few posts before my question was answered.

  8. What are eDocs ? We requested and were mailed our luggage tags and have printed out our Xpress passes from Celebrity's website, but have no idea what I'm missing, if anything ? Keep seeing questions, but no answers about eDocs. Our last Celebrity cruise was over 5 years ago, and I believe everything was snail mailed back then.

If someone can enlighten me, I would be most grateful.

    Thanks,

What Celebrity called eDoc is the 'guest ticket Booklet' on the online check-in page. If you click on 'download PDF' you can read them online before you print them out.

Celebrity should unify their terminology. Another confusion they cause their passengers.

  9. What has changed that irritates me is the people who do not know what they are doing. This is especially happening if you have to call or contact Celebrity offices. Trying to phone or sending emails are like falling into a black hole. The people who represent Celebrity need some training in being polite. Many are rude. One lady told me that she was overwhelmed because they are shorthanded. I did not need to hear this after waiting on hold...and she could not help me. Celebrity needs to improve their website. It is not easy to use. Michael Bayley needs to pay attention to feedback. His office contacted me after I sent an email. When I called them at their request, they were clueless. Train your office staff.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Sometimes I think they have farmed out the whole 'contact us' department to a foreign country.
