Be prepared for itinerary possible changes. Hurricane Beryl is and has caused tremendous damage in many places.
One of my favorite restaurants is Ocean Blue. Even as a solo passenger, Ocean Blue is the only place that I make reservations.
Enjoy

People are more than happy to answer your questions and make suggestions for you.
Enjoy the city of Seattle and your cruise.

We're already in Seattle and I have them with me. It's not really a big deal, I just enjoy them. Makes it a bit easier to find room. Also I like seeing them on other doors. IMO, this whole cruise reminds me of like a type of "adult sleepover camp". It's a lot of fun. Now, if I can only find a hand-made crocheted duck that someone is going to hide. . . 🙂
Before putting anything on your door I would check with either the Guest Desk or the Hotel General Manager. Some GM's allow decorating and others do not.
Some GM's to not approve of hiding ducks either.
Enjoy your time in Seattle. Tonight there will be fireworks at T Mobile Park (South of downtown where the Mariner's play. Tomorrow night there will be a fireworks display in the middle of Lake Union (North of downtown).

Hi all,
My family and I are cruising on the Dawn embarking on 07/15. I have kept an eye on the itineraries and the past few cruises and at this point I feel like our entire cruise could be swapped around. I am actually probably one of the most flexible people in regards to this, I am just excited to be on a cruise but now I am a bit concerned with the ship. The current sailing had cancellations, the one on the 07/06 and 07/26 lost Norway and Sweden and the Dawn is camping out overnight in Copenhagen and ending their sailing portion of the cruise early.
This seems to be happening quite frequently on the Dawn and my point of this post is speculation- why? She is camping out for overnights a lot with these changes, we also lost a few ports a few times with the changes that keep happening. I also believe at this point there will be more because our sailing was ripped off of NCL's website. Do we think she is having propulsion issues and cannot get to all of these ports on time? Why end a cruise early unless something needs to be fixed? Or is this the famous "bait and switch" everyone says that keeps happening with the Dawn. I know she just went into dry dock, but is something else going on? What do you think?
Most probably too many cruise ships wanting to dock at the same port at the same time. Many many cruise ports around the world are cutting back the number of cruise ships that can dock at one time and cutting back on the number of cruise ship passengers allowed off at each port. Right now it is a logistical nightmare in many cruise ports.

Thank you all. So Vancouver doesn't do inside passage back to Vancouver anymore? That is what we did last time we did this cruise, it was on the Sun. I was hoping we coukd do that again, because we could fly to Vancover the morning the day the ship leaves and then fly home the day we disembark too, that way don't need a hotel stay.
If you are leaving on The Jewel from Vancouver to Seward or Seward to Vancouver, you should do both the Lower and Upper Inside Passage. The larger ships like The Bliss and Encore are TOO large to navigate some of the straits of the Lower Inside Passage. I have been told that both the Encore and the Bliss can navigate at least some of the Upper Inside Passage.

Won't know surgery schedule until next week when I get the final prognosis. Then, I won't know the extent of what they're going to do until they actually do their "surgery" thing and see how much other damage there is. They (the surgeons, of which I have two) seem to think there may be more damage than just the hip replacement will rectify. If now, I should be good to go (fingers crossed) by December. If there's more, February or March may be more realistic...IF (big IF) everything goes right.
Not worried. Worse comes to worse, I'll become one of those people on a scooter y'all will be yelling at me to get out of the way once I board. Positive side of that, I'll be boarding before all of you from now on. 😉
As yet stands now, The Aqua is scheduled for late March from Southampton, UK to Boston, MA.

Denali is a wonderful place to visit however as of this past weekend, Denali Park entrance is closed as well as a number of the hotels because of a raging wildfire. This has the makings of another very rough wildfire season from Southern California to Alaska. Very hot dry weather and TOO few firefighters and probably not enough money or equipment either.

As always, I wish you well.
Any chance you might be ready to sail over Christmas out of Galveston, Texas on The Escape??

Just read of the CDC's Ship Inspection pages that The Norwegian Sky passed her latest inspection (23 May 2024) with a perfect score of 100. She also passed her October 2023 inspection with 100%. WOW!! Great Job Congratulations!!

There is an Ambassador on the cruise who has been on Prima since April in Miami. She is disembarking in Reykjavik before cruising with her family later this year. She said she has more than double the number of points needed for Ambassador.
WOW!! I would love to have that kind of time and money. The longest cruise I have ever done was a 22 Day Christmas New Years adventure.

I would be more worried about some of the ports in Southern Mexico than Acapulco right now. There is a wonderful enclosed shopping area on the pier just steps off the ship (very safe) and a great place to go Christmas shopping. Shopped till I went broke the last time I was there.

Thank you, Mandy! We appreciate the prayers! We will be on Pride of America in September and we will go on Viva out of Puerto Rico and Joy out of LA in December. Do you have a cruise planned this year or next year?
Hopefully on The Escape out of Galveston, Texas over Christmas. The Aqua's first sailing from Southampton to Boston late March 2025.

We hope that the MDR will be open on the Jade in August. Dragging our carry-ons to the buffet, while trying to find a table is not fun. I guess that we can go to O'Sheehan's.
There should be a place to store your carry-ons before the cabins are ready. Ask, someone should know the location (usually a closed restaurant like Orchid Garden).

If you're interested in exploring the interior of Alaska in addition to sailing the panhandle, Seward makes a great jumping off place. I would recommend the train from Seward to Anchorage. I think the view from the train is more scenic than from the highway. Visiting Denali is a highlight of an Alaska adventure.
Just heard this morning that the entrance to Denali has been closed until further notice because of a wildfire.

I have noticed these extra perks free at sea. Are these perks actually free or are there restrictions with them?
We sailed on ncl to Alaska in 2006 and loved it and are wanting to go back as our retirement gift to each other. Only other cruise we have been on was carnival to the Caribbean in 2009. I prefer the Cruise where I am not in on water for days, I like Alaska as we could see land all the cruise up the inside passage. Also what port is better Vancouver or Seattle?
Depends on your schedule:
(1) Seattle has 7 day round trip-- Saturday-Saturday The Bliss Sunday- Sunday The Encore
(2) Seattle 9 days on The Sun leaving either on a Wednesday or Friday
Vancouver: The Jewel 7 Day ONE WAY cruise up both portions of the Inside Passage. Leaves on a Monday. Seward to Vancouver on the opposite Monday
The Inside Passage gives you a view of land almost all the time. You will also see a number of other ships from other cruise ships, British Columbia Ferries and water craft of all sizes. Great cruise.
Both The Bliss and The Encore sail along the West Coast of Vancouver Island in the Pacific Ocean. Sometimes you can see land but barely.
Both the Port of Vancouver (Canada Place) and the Port of Seattle are downtown-- a long way from the airport.
Whatever cruise you choose, enjoy.

Because?
Smaller ship (The Jewel) sails both portions of the Inside Passage ( much calmer water- beautiful scenery). Lots of interesting ship traffic: British Columbia ferries, other cruise passenger ships, lots of smaller vessels and being able to see land for the most part.

Prayers for all staff members and their families who may be in harms way from Hurricane Beryl whether they are serving on a ship or live in the Caribbean region. The more you read and see the worse this storm seems to be.
Prayers for everyone's safety

Two very good answers. The staff certainly deserves great treatment. Just wondering if any managers have impressed you with their courtesy in the past.
Yes: General Manager Relief Steven Jacobsen
Former General Manager Errol Bailey (Errol was recently promoted to a shoreside position)

When you can, could you please post a list of the current Officers? I see by the letter you received that The Breakaway has a new Captain and I know that there is a new General Manager. Would like to have current information to share on another thread.
Thank You

Yvonne, sorry to hack your thread. I wanted to tell you and Harry that Norwegian GM Errol Bailey lives in Jamaica. At the moment he is home. Hurricane Beryl has done some devastating damage to a number of Caribbean islands including Jamaica. Have not heard from Errol since early yesterday. Power is out for most of Jamaica. Prayers for all who are or will have to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Errol.
Yvonne prayers for you and Dad as this adventure begins.
