  1. I prepay as much as I can (tips, cheers, etc). I keep my cash for the casino separate in the safe. So I usually don't put very much in there. I don't really buy anything on the ship. Bingo is $20 a card, I believe. If you are just buying drinks a good estimate is $10 a drink x the number of drinks you think you will drink a day. Always figure a little high. At the end of the cruise you can withdrawal the left over cash from your account.

  2. What about freshwater fishing - trout, dollies etc as well as salmon, doesn't have to be flyfishing. I've seen ads for flight trips out of Juneau and also a trip inland from Icy Strait Pt, anyone tried these ?

(In my case it would be mid to late May).

I went in September last year. I packed a 6.5' ugly stick gx2 travel rod, some lightweight packable hip boots and a small container of blue fox spinners, pixie spoons and jigs/bobbers. I threw it all in a small back pack. I rented a car in Ketchikan and drove to Ward Creek. I had a blast catching pink salmon, sockeye salmon and dollies. In May you would have steelhead and dollies. Just do some research online and find out where to go. There are a couple of streams around Juneau that have steelhead runs. I am considering a May cruise to target steelhead with my fly rod, but haven't decided yet. Make sure to read the regulations for those areas. It is definitely cheaper if you are the adventurous type. I saw other guys carrying fishing gear off the ship.

  3. You can print off your sign and sail receipt from the kiosks. All of your drinks will be listed there as $0.00. This should give you a general idea based on what kind of drinks you had. Generally speaking you need to drink 6-10 drinks to break even, based on cocktails vs wine vs beer.

  4. Will this ship be deemed safe!??? My trip is 6/9 to Cozumel.

Who and when will this be authorized?

I do not want to get stuck in the GOM like those poor people last year!

I DON'T WANT TUG BOATS! I want a nice cruise ship for $1600!!!!!

CARNIVAL, YOU NEED TO SEND US ALL A LETTER ASSURING US OF OUR SAFETY - WE ARE LEAVING CHILDREN AND PETS AT HOME ON A SIMPLE 5 DAY CRUISE.

WOW!! I don't even know what to say. Maybe you should just stay home? It sounds like you are already getting your ducks in a row for the "I'm platinum and I want a refund" argument. Some people!!

  5. You need to drink roughly 7 drinks a day to break even (depending on what you drink of course). They are counting on people not doing that (like my wife and some days me). If it was shared, it would be easier to reach the break even point with 2 people instead of one. Carnival would loose more times then they win. I for one am very glad they added all of the non alcoholic options.

  6. I had this happen on our cruise in April. We had steak house reservations the first night. Come 6:00 pm and my suit case still had not been delivered. I went to guest services and looked through the pile of luggage with missing tags. No luck. I went to guest services and reported it missing. About a half hour later I get off the elevator and there is my suit case sitting in the hallway. There was a lady standing in the open doorway of a nearby cabin. She apologized. Our luggage was similar and she grabbed it by mistake. She was looking for the room Stewart to tell them. I wasn't really mad at her, it was an honest mistake. My suit case was a pewter grey color with a floral pattern on it. I have seen a similar looking case a couple of times, but it is rare. What are the odds? This is the first time I have ever had to deal we missing luggage. I was just glad to get it back.

  7. 4. A backpack/large bag for hauling around your stuff either on land or ship. As you can probably tell by now, you may be adding/taking off layers throughout the day. I was often taking off a sweatshirt and putting it in the backpack, or suddenly needing a hat, etc.

    !

I take a backpack(carry on) on all of our cruises. They are great for carrying stuff when in port.
