  1. Wake up early and eat some breakfast. Watch the flying fish jump away from the ship. Wander around until my wife wakes up. Go have a 2nd breakfast with her. Go find a place to lounge around. Go eat lunch when hungry again. Maybe take a nap. Stroll down to the casino. Have a few drinks here and there. Maybe take in a couple of the events going on through out the day. Go change for dinner in the MDR. Go see a show or back to the casino. Have some more drinks. Sea Days are like a vacation within your vacation. Port days seem busy with lots of activity (they don't have to be). Sea days are relaxation and recuperation.

How many days prior to the cruise did you get your cruise doc's? 37 days away, and my e-docs are still not ready to download. :(

Did you complete your online registration? I always thought they were immediately available after completing. I guess I never really paid attention before.

  3. We packed all our stuff into carry ons in the Caribbean. You just have to roll instead of fold. My first cruise I took a suit. Now I just take one pair of Khakis and two bottom up or polo shirts. No one cares what you're wearing. A couple pairs of jeans, a couple shirts and a hoodie. The most clothing is underwear and socks, unless you wash during the cruise.

  4. Frogg Toggs rain suits are pretty inexpensive. You could probably just find the pants on eBay. I found a used military surplus heavy weight fleece jacket liner for $20. They are made by one of the big name manufactures. They are REALLY warm. I also have some low top Keens waterproof hikers. They are really awesome shoes.

  5. I recently got the $50 a person with $100 on board credit offer. First I got a phone call from a pvp. A few days later I received a letter in the mail. It didn't say any where that it was associated with the casino. My theory is that since it is based on your vifp number, it could just be a random number generator that spits out numbers? Maybe some people are just luckier than others? Has anyone ever asked Carnival?

  6. My husband didn't want to go on our first cruise. He was a good sport but he really wasn't looking forward to our 25th anniversary trip. It was a cruise to Hawaii from Vancouver so 4 days at sea first. It was a good thing that by the 3rd day he was hooked.

I have a really good friend who really wanted to go on a cruise. Since she isn't allowed to go anywhere without her husband (she was in her 50's at the time) her husband finally allowed her to book a cruise. She wasn't allowed to ask me for any advice even though I had gone on several cruises at that point. He picked the cruise and the place. He wouldn't fly down the day before so they were stressed before they even got there.

I saw him a week before they left when I was shopping. He told me that he was going to hate it and wasn't going to let her do anything except watch other people leave the ship. That it was going to be a horrible time so that she wouldn't ever want to go again. He did exactly that. They stayed in their room (at least they had a balcony) except to eat at the buffet. They never went to the dining room, shows or anything else except for one time when he fell asleep she went to bingo. She loves bingo and never gets to play it. She would love to go again but she won't. They have the money but he has threatened her if she did go with me. And he likes me.

That's abusive behavior there. Way to controlling!!

I drug my feet for several years thinking I wouldn't like it. Once I went, I loved it!! We have our third cruise booked lol.

  7. OK, here is a question: Say I insert S&S card in slot machine, charge $300 to my credit card which funds the card. Then, I play a few pulls on slot machine, lose $20 and then upload the remaining $280 to the card (player bank?). Then I want to play table game, so I take card to table to get $280 in chips and they charge 3% of the $280 for this?

Yes. But you could just go to the cage and have them cash out the money in your player bank. Then take that cash to the tables.

  8. Last week I booked a Carnival cruise to Alaska-it sails out of Seattle, and arrives back in Vancouver. (Can't wait till Sept 8th!)

I'm on the same one! I believe it's be as that is the last Alaskan sailing of the season. The legend sails from Vancouver over to Hawaii.

  9. I ended up picking a 7 day Alaskan cruise for my free offer. I'm also on deck 7. Yes I have to fly to Seattle, but the free cabin saved me $1300. That helps a lot! I don't know if it's a computer glitch or not, but the free cabin rates still show on the carnival web site. I did another mock booking and it appeared it would have let me book another free cabin. Luckily I can't afford another one this soon. Plus they would probably tell me it's a glitch and make me pay in full.

  10. I have a slightly different question.

If I want to play at a table game; do I need to use cash? Or can I charge it to my s&s card? If I can charge it is there a fee?

    Thanks.

Yes you can charge your s&s card. I believe there was a small fee, but I don't recall what it was.

Also I didn't see this posted, when you put your S&S card in the slots you earn points with play. If you accumulate 1000 points you get a "drink on us card" that allows you to drink for free in the casino.

  11. You just posted that there were limitations, no Alaska.... but now you say you booked Alaska. Hmmmmm ;)

I'm leaving in a week for an 8 day Alaska and I've paid $2900.00 for the cabin + port/taxes + gratuities. There is no free lunch and no free cruise.

Yeah I was going by what the PVP told me, then I checked online. She hadn't checked either. She said they normal do not allow Alaska cruises on the free promotion. Ok technically it's not a free cruise. It's a free cabin. My cabin price is ZERO.

  12. We are so excited!! I just got off the phone with the PVP. We are booked on the Sept. 8th sailing to Glacier Bay Alaska. Total price for port fees, taxes, prepaid gratuities and insurance is $709 + $100 obc. So $304.50 per person for a 7 day Alaskan Cruise!!!! We've been dying to go to Alaska. They had several offers in June, but they didn't work for us.

  13. I'm curious if it also shows up in your VIFP offers?

Yes, I just checked. There are 142 cruises showing up that are available for the offer. It is showing $50 per person for an inside cabin. From what I've read on here, you get a $100 obc. One of the sailings is the 11 day from Galveston ending in San Juan for $50 a person. Almost to good to pass up.

  14. It was from a PVP. The number is their Miami call center. I talked to her once already. It has to be used this year. We have to pay port fees and taxes. There are limitations, no Alaska. There are lots of threads on here about these offers. I have no idea why I was picked. We were on a cruise in January of this year. We didn't have anything currently booked.
