It is a worry when some of our regulars disappear.

I got Pauline to join CC plus I email a couple of American friends who are on CC who would post if anything happened to me.

We have both been a bit poorly today and lay on the bed watching TV all day.

My husband is feeling ill today too. Very listless and cold like symptoms. Rest is always best. Take care

To all my other dear friends on CCF - just to let you know I'm taking a break. I'll be back soon and in the meanwhile wish you you all well - good health and happiness and excellent cruising.

I know you are having a break but hopefully you will still read this.

I was just wondering if anyone else is like me in scrutinising everyone on TV to see if their eyebrows are tats! 🙂. I have decided most are. Even the men.

    Take care Jane

To save on waste and keep costs down I plan a weekly menu and order only what I need. It's easier doing the shop online because I'm not tempted when walking around the supermarket.😁

    Avril

I shop monthly so never know what I am making daily. Apart from the end of the month. Where the no. of ingredients match the no. of days left🙂.

I love food shopping. Even abroad I would rather go in a supermarket than a tat shop

All this talk of food is making me hungry!

I’m playing my own personal game of ready, steady, cook this week. We are off on our travels next week so using up what’s left. Its not so much what OH wants to eat but what I can “create” from what’s left in the fridges.

I have come up with some good recipes over the years by bunging together what’s left. I discovered roasted cauliflower, fennel and lentil soup as a result of having to use up a whole cauliflower and it’s delicious. Tonight it’s a Mediterranean beef stew as I had olives, red peppers and sun dried tomatoes to use up.

Does anyone else do this before they go away? I hate food waste.

Not just if we are going away. I decide what I am making every day by what is open. Even cheap things. I have ragu in the oven at the moment because I had celery left from steak and mushroom pie filling I made last week. I have also added the remainder to my sausage tray bake

Oh happy day!  I've just had an email from Cunard to tell me the icing just went on my cake BIG time!!!!

"We are thrilled to announce the world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will be performing. The maestro will be joined by legendary Liverpudlian TV personality and DJ, Craig Charles who will be teaming up with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for a unique collaboration. Craig will keep the party going until the grand finale, when Queen Anne sails away as light falls."

Can't contain the excitement now, my 80's hero Midge Ure on board and now my ultimate present in Andre Bocelli.

Wow, it's going to be an excellent cruise. I also like Craig Charles. I think I have watched every Red Dwarf episode.

Forget about the clothes and enjoy yourself

Just checked a couple of YouTube videos on these aft cabins and it’s a disgrace that P&O are allowing this situation to continue. I would suggest making the pool adult only but I think we all know how successful that would be. Time for a call to TA I think.

I don't think the children are the problem. As Harry said above. The only people I have seen deliberately splashing water over the edge have been adults

Around Britain on Queen Anne.  The weather for half of it now shows warm and wet.  I was reluctant to take out my warmer weather clothing so topped it up with a couple of pairs of jeans which take forever to dry if they get wet, two sweaters, a hoodie and my walking boots.

My evening wear filled one suitcase as I wanted to keep the weight to something I can handle okay.  I bought three heavily beaded dresses for the main formal gala nights and had forgotten how they fill half a suitcase.  After lots of discussion with my friends I've taken out all the nice sparkly trousers and tops and replaced them with little cocktail dresses plus three pairs of evening shoes with various heels .  Even that has filled the case up so I moved to number 2 for my day clothes but squashing it down meantbby the time I'd added my raincoat and lightweight jacket there was no room for my toiletries etc.  It's total OTT but I'm tired of replanning it all.  Ironically my packing list is actually quite short save my underwear where I take way too much.

I'm normally really good at packing and when I fly I'm always underweight. Actually these cases aren't heavy, just bulked out.

Okay. I live in Durham. It really isn't that cold. Ditch the jeans for lighter trousers, one jumper, 'pack a mac'. Unless you plan climbing a mountain trainers will do

Then you can take your nice sparkle clothes and be happier.

My daughter is going to Northumberland next week. We have ordered nice weather 😂

Does this mean you are on for the naming ceremony?

The rain has arrived, there's a surprise.  Packing finished but somehow once I put in the jeans, leggings, raincoats, hoodie and sweaters the suitcase was very reluctant to join in.  So now I have one large suitcase full of formal stuff and cocktail dresses plus evening wraps and jackets (assuming it will be cold onboard as Cunard ships generally are) and evening/dance shoes, one full of cold weather gear and my hopefully useable lightweight onboard gear and a third half size case with my sundries.  I took less for 5 weeks in Canada and Florida in a cold damp February a few years back, so this looks ridiculous!

This ship better be worth all this!

    Where are you going?

Deservedly so.  I was very shocked it was considered acceptable particularly as it was apparently an all girls church school in Kent.

Myself being an oik went to a comprehensive school, ond of the first after the scrapping of secondary modern and grammar in our area.  I was a year older than all my classmates after missing the 11+ due to being in hospital for over a year.  We had navy pleated skirts, white shirts, black and white diagonal striped tie and black blazer. In summer we could wear a gingham dropped waist seersucker dress.  There was a catch, we had to make the latter in sewing class and my sewing was so bad I never actually got to finish a dress before leaving school!

Sewing was rubbish. We had to pin it. Get it checked to see if it was neat enough

Tack it. Checked again. Then sew by hand. This was for our apron for cookery. I snuck in at lunchtime and did it on the machine.

I dropped sewing at the first opportunity. I had to take history as they wouldn't let me do metalwork.

    Thankfully that wouldn't happen now

They already do!  She is Queen Victoria's godmother.

Seriously if Princess Catherine wasn't unwell I'm 99.9% certain she would be Anne's Godmother, there are so many pictures of her in videos shot onboard it can't be coincidental.

The guessing game continues for Liverpool 3 June!

    If that's the case

It would be nice if they chose Charlotte instead

You want every passenger on board to complete an accessibility needs form, 99%+ pointlessly doing so, and with the vast majority of the remaining <1% doing so anyway, just to capture the one or two people who either didn't follow the instructions or had a poor travel agent.

    Hmmm...

Everyone does. On all new bookings you are asked if you have any problems which may need assistance. If the answer is no, you are done. If it is yes you will then have to answer further questions

Is there a particular order for boarding? My daughter and my sister, with no loyalty status, will be in a deck 4 aft facing balcony cabin, while we are next door but have priority. I know we’ll be boarding first, but does anyone have any idea what sort of boarding time they may get?

I have a very old list but it still appears to work going on our last cruises. Deck 4 E on Arcadia 14.00

    Same cul-de-sac.

We are in the worst position because it is L shaped and we are in the corner of the L so the side of the house involved is next to our front garden.  There is currently  a 12 ft high conifer hedge inside their garden but the plans show that it will be removed so that they can put a path between the extrension and our 6ft high fence.

The people in the house in the street below us have told DH that they have also filled in the form to the council because it will affect their privacy too.

Work backwards Josy. Find out what would stop permission. Then start your objections using the guidelines.

  15. We went to bed just after half ten last night. Then hubby's phone started beeping. Son was at the coast and could see the Aurora.

I lay a while then got up to see if daughter wanted us to sit with granddaughter so she could go to beach. Offer was declined, back to bed.

Phone started again. Son was back and the lights were better at home. Got up again. Wow. The sky was red to purple all over. Our three families were sending photos back and forth.

These lasted much longer and were far more intense than on our Northern Lights cruise, and we had good sightings then.

Good luck to everyone checking tonight

    Hi

I have sailed Thomson since 1997,,,54 cruises in all, last one 3 weeks ago,,,I can’t remember Thomson/Tui/Marella ever being anything but All Inclusive.

I also cruise P&O (Britannia in 4 weeks) and always buy the DP,,this time with the 20% discount was a no brainier.

Each to their own I say.

Definitely has not always been all inclusive. I stopped going when it changed and the prices went up.
