  1. I don't recall them being a problem in SE Alaska. Denali is another story.
  2. No room in bag. Holland provides a nice larger size robe.
  3. Can you request a larger size robe from your steward? In my case, OSFA does not.
  4. Does Norwegian do any dishes especially well that people try not to miss? I'm thinking something like bread pudding on Holland.
  5. I agree with right side heading south. I've found that people are out of their seats quite a bit so it's not impossible to move around. The left side might have a better view of mountain goats clinging to the rocks.
  6. Anybody have a preference? I've done Tracy's. Gold Creek sounds interesting in addition to the salmon
  7. If you can see the boarding ramp from your balcony, you can always watch for the panicked pier runners. Oh, the things that amuse me.
  8. No way I'm spending that much to do a small boat visit to Hubbard. Money is much better spent doing small boat into Tracy Arm or taking the Kenai Fjords tour out of Seward. This year I'm doing the 26 Glacier cruise out of Whittier for the first time. All of those are likely a better experience and value than Hubbard Glacier.
  9. I'm going to differ with most of the comments here. I'm a solo traveler who did an aft balcony last June in Alaska for the first time. The balcony was very deep making it larger than a side balcony; however, it's also a long way (relatively speaking) from the cabin to balcony rail. Being that I'm always looking for whales and other wildlife to photograph (even from the ship), I was spending a lot of time walking from cabin out to the end of the balcony. Also for photography reasons, I'm also very interested in knowing what is ahead of me. The aft balcony was bad for that. This year its back to a side balcony for me.
  10. I stayed in an inside cabin once in Alaska. It was fine. IIRC, I was on the promenade deck and could get outside pretty easily and quickly. Having said that, now I only do balconies. I have to shop pretty hard to get a decent rate on a solo balcony, but it can be done.
  11. I just booked the cruise. Opted out of the Air/Sea fare. It would have saved a couple of hundred bucks but I would be giving up itinerary control, including seat assignments. As I get older, my tolerance for randomness in my travel plans goes down rapidly.
  12. Yes, there are daytime flights from Anchorage to Seattle/Portland. The question is will Norwegian's Air/Sea program put me on an after-midnight flight to save a few bucks. That's my question.
