  1. We will be in Malaga in October of this year for one day on a cruise ship. We wanted to be able to walk around Malaga to see the sights but also experience some of the culture. After a little research and some very positive reviews, we booked the Walk & Taste Malaga tour with WE LOVE MALAGA. It looks like we will still have time to walk around after the tour and visit some shops. I am very excited about it and hope we made the right call!

Now as long as we can find the meeting place once we get there, we will be all set! :D

  2. Are there no beaches or pools in Falmouth? Only shops? Which all- inclusive ( s) have you tried & how much $$ were they? Thanks!

    Big Al

We usually camp out at the Margaritaville inside the port at Falmouth. They have a pool with a swim up bar and a waterfall. It is free to use the pool and chairs, although we do buy plenty of drinks and some munchies! It gets pretty full so we get there early to get a chair. Of course we could do the same thing onboard at the pool and get free food, but we enjoy the vibe at Margaritaville.

  3. Hey Tina, thanks for that information; I'm encouraged to know that was during your July Cruise. I don't know the specifics, but I thought I've read on these Boards, that RCI implemented some changes effective Aug. 1, whether those changes affect Dining, I don't recall.

I'd like to hear from those who may have cruised this month.

In the end, it doesn't really matter if I know now or when I'm on the Ship; if something changed in their Policy, I'll have to decide if I want to incur any additional expense when I'm on Board in a few weeks.

    Thanks!

FWIW, I have only heard these changes being discussed on the Allure reviews and only for the First Night Done Right promotion, not the BOGO.

  4. Yes, and more specifically, will they charge an additional fee? Can I dine at Wonderland without incurring an "upcharge"?

    Thank you.

I have been looking for info on this as well. We have the BOGO booked for the 2nd week of our B2B on Harmony in September and are hoping to eat at Chops and Jamie's.

I have seen reports of First Night Done Right from Allure travelers and they have said they can only use it for Giovanni's and Samba. If they wanted to use it at Chops, they had to pay 50% of the initial $49 charge, so to your point, they would owe $10 each since they already paid $15 for the FNDR.

However I haven't seen any reports of this on Harmony or any feedback on the BOGO either. When are you sailing? I can let you know after our cruise in September if you are sailing after that.

  5. We pretty much always book with a big box TA for the pricing and perks. Very seldom can I get anywhere close to the same deal with Royal directly. Also since they give us such good pricing deals, I have only once had to call them about a price adjustment. Our upcoming B2B was so cheap and offered so many deals that even when others were reporting huge price drops for their cabins, ours was still $1000 less than what the current pricing was.

I make all the other reservations with shows and dining because that is a large part of the planning fun and would never want someone else doing it for me.

All of this is just personal preference, some of us like using the TA's for perks and others like going direct. What ever works best for you is what you should do.

  6. Thank you, but I cannot find anywhere that states that pre-payment for tips for MTD was dropped. There is a disclaimer still on the RCI website regarding it. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/contentWithHero.do?pagename=open_seating

They definitely did drop that requirement awhile ago. Unfortunately Royal is not great at updating their own website when things like this happen. FWIW, I am a travel agent so I am sure they dropped it. You will be charged daily onboard unless you decide to have your travel agent add them before you go. We always like to prepay so I add mine on as soon as I book.

  7. Assignments? If you are referring to the D+ BOGO coupon, you should be able to use any of the specialty restaurants on the 1st two nights

The OP is referring to the BOGO deal that can be purchased in the cruise planner for most sailings. It is $30 per person and Royal will assign your specialty restaurants for those nights, you just pick the time. It is a great deal price wise and if you don't like the restaurants assigned, then you can change to others if there is space.

We have this deal reserved for an upcoming cruise on Harmony as well and are interested to see what they pick for us. Either way, we will probably change them to Chops and Jamies.

  8. Does anyone know where I can find the LUNCH MDR menus on Harmony for Western Caribbean?

We've never done lunch in the MDR & I always hear about some great theme we missed out on.

I have a picture of the lunch menu on Harmony that another cruiser posted recently. However I don't know how to attach a photo here. I tried a few different things but it didn't work. Are you on Facebook? If so I can message it to you there

  9. As Bob said, you can use the dining package at lunch. However you will want to do the math to determine if it is a cost savings or not. Most of the lunches only run around $19 per person however the dining pricing can be anywhere from $25-$49 per person. So the cost savings for the packages works out best for dinners. You might just want to purchase the lunches at full cost on board or reserve ahead if you can.

  10. For some reason, the crack IT team at Royal can't seem to figure out the My Time Dining reservations and this has been an issue for months. ;p

Since you are sailing in August, they are definitely available. You will need to call to set up your reservations. Once they are set up, then you miraculously have access to change, delete or add to the my time dining reservations online.

    Have fun on your cruise!

  11. Procedure varies all over the place depending on number of Consecutive Cruisers involved. We have had meetings/no meetings. Cards in rooms or pickup on last evening from Guest Services or card being valid for two cruises. Escort off boat or dining room. Lunch or no lunch. Really isn't predictable. In US they will have to zero the passenger count somehow.

Sometime during your first cruise stop in at Guest Services and make sure you are on the list for the next cruise. Usually they know what will happen about four days before the cruise ends. We've only had to show the In Transit card to bypass lines in the terminal to get back on (and it doesn't work before they start boarding new passengers). Nobody cares if you are in the hallways going to your new room, but doesn't hurt to have the card. Fire doors will be closed and can be opened with little lever up high on one side.

We have made dining reservations with the dining staff on the first cruise. In our case we wanted the same waiters in Mytime and they were moving to new stations. Door greeter had just assigned the new stations and moved us with the waiters, or would have let us keep the same table. Haven't tried this with specialty, but suspect they would do the same thing.

If you do a cabin change get to know the new steward during the first cruise. He/she will get your cabin ready early and help with the move. Stewards will move anything on hangers, rest needs to be in a suitcase. He can also get you access to the new cabin safe as soon as current occupants leave.

If you are planning on giving an additional gratuity to waiters or steward check to make sure they will be on the next cruise. Usually we know just from talking to them.

A B2B is actually much easier than just a single cruise and really makes sense if you are flying to the port.

Thank you for all of the details!! I really appreciate it!

  12. Depending on how many b2b's, there may or may not be a meeting. If very few, usually you just get an information sheet in your cabin a couple of days prior. All b2b should get a packet with your new seapass card and an "In Transit" card. You can show the "In Transit" card to access your room, new or otherwise, after you re-board. You shouldn't have to wait for the cabins to opened for new cruisers.

Oh, I thought there was always a meeting the day before. Was this on Harmony that they didn't have a meeting? Also thought I had read that you get your new seapass cards on TAD when you meet at the designated spot. So you get them in your room the day before?

    Thank you

  13. We will be on our first B2B on Harmony in September. We understand there is a meeting on the last day of your first cruise that you need to attend to learn about the procedures for Turnaround day. What all do they tell you at this meeting? Anyone recently on a Harmony B2B know what time your meeting was on Friday? We have a lot of stuff planned that day already and want to make sure we work around this meeting.

Also can we make specialty restaurant reservations for the second week during the first week or do we need to go to a specialty restaurant at 11am on TAD for the second week, just like we will the first week?

Any other details about TAD that anyone wants to share?

We are VERY excited and I am a planner so I like to know what to expect.

  14. We have been on over 25 cruises with Royal, always use our credit/debit cards for our onboard account and have never had any extra charges from the mini bar or anything else. As someone else stated, this is just our personal experience. I know I have read where many have had them but guess we have lucked out.

  15. I always get the soda package but have started waiting to buy it until we are on the ship. Since we both get a package, we can pick two different cup designs so we don't get them mixed up throughout the week.

Might be a good idea for your kids as well so they have different looking cups! No fighting over who's is who's!

Also the soda packages have always been the same price onboard as online so I haven't had to worry about the in the past.

  16. We have rented one of the Deluxe Ocean View Cabanas for our June 15th cruise on the Grandeur...

Has anyone had one recently? I have only seen postings that are fairly old.

What did they include? I have seen conflicting responses about what was included...

Any recent pictures would be great!!

    THANK YOU ahead of time!!

Were these available to rent thru your cruise planner?
