  1. I am not overly concerned whether there is a show or not. I was just wondering if you usually had to book, and therefore the fact that it is not available to book online indicates that there won't be a Broadway show, or whether you don't usually have to book, in which case there may be a Broadway show. I am asking because I am wondering if it worth my while to keep checking the cruise planner to see if it is added.

For all of our Allure and Oasis sailings the Broadway shows have come out for reservations later than the other shows. We have always made reservations once they were available so we knew we could get seats together and of our choice. Most likely they are not posted for you yet.

  2. We were on Majesty last month and my DH and I ate at the Mexican restaurant all 3 nights. They have a pretty small menu but it's all you can eat. They also bring you as much chips and salsa/guacamole that you want. They have several types of guacamole to choose from and maybe a few different salsas but I don't remember for sure. I'm vegetarian and they were able to accommodate that despite not having any vegetarian entrees on the menu. Also, my DH and I like our food very spicy and the second night our guacamole was to die for (as we had asked for it to be made extra spicy) and it's what lured us back to eat there for the third night. However, the guacamole was very different the third night when we requested it extra spicy and our waiter told us there was a different chef that night.

They have a few dessert options as well. We got the churro the first night and it was incredible. We were too full the other two nights to get dessert so that's all we experienced from the dessert menu. I can't remember what else they offered but I would imagine they have some sort of tres leches as is typical of Mexican restaurants.

Obviously, we really enjoyed it, but my DH and I are huge Mexican food fans and prefer that over most other types of food. Also, we made reservations the first two nights but decided not to bother on the third night as it was never very crowded when we were there. We went around 8:00-8:30 every night and one of the nights (can't remember which) we were the only ones there.

It opens at 6:30 pm and is $12 pp. There was no Taste of Tuscany on this sailing (not sure if they got rid of it for good but it kinda seems like it) but there was Chef's Table on night 2.

I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any more and I'll do my best to answer.

Yes that was very helpful! Thank you

  3. I have read on a couple of other threads that the Compass Deli on Majesty now turns into a Mexican restaurant at night. I can't find anything about this on the website.

Has anyone ate there personally? What is available and what hours are they open?

We are booked on Majesty twice between now and her last voyage and would love more details about this if anyone has them. Thank you!

  4. Looks like they just changed the look of all the decorations. I was looking in gifts and gear on royal's site last week and noticed pictures of the new decorations. You should take a look there so you know exactly what you are getting. We have done the decorations a couple of times, and always enjoyed them, they lasted all week everytime.

  5. We are booked for May 2015 on the Oasis. We oiginally booked when they were planning on rolling out Dynamic Dining however it was listed as MTD at that time and they added prepaid gratuities to our total. When they postponed DD, we changed back to MTD and I assumed our total would stay the same at final payment because prepaid grats would still have been on there.

When we paid final payment this week, I was charged $168 less than what I thought, which is exactly the amount of our gratuities. When I called the TA, they told me that since we originally had DD and Royal had changed that after we booked, they are not requiring us to prepay our grats.

  6. Like you I love the eastern Caribbean however the more we sail the western I am loving that now too! Really just love to cruise and really love the big ships such as Allure and Oasis!

I think you should give the Oasis western itinerary a try. Labadee is my favorite stop of anywhere as the beaches are clean, beautiful and it is just your ship there so easy to find secluded spots if you want or you can join a big group if want as well! At Falmouth the port area is very safe and most feel it is very commercialized but we enjoy it. Usually just have a relaxing morning on the ship and then get off to enjoy lunch at one of the spots in the port area and walk around to look at all the local crafts. There are plenty of excursions you can pick as well if you prefer that.

Cozumel has a little bit of everything to offer. As a solo cruiser I would probably pick an excursion for your first visit or go to a beach club. We are trying the Cozumel BarHop for the first time in May and are really excited. The reviews and you tube videos are great and you could meet some fun people that way.

No matter what you pick, you will be on a cruise ship and not at work so you will have a blast! Enjoy!

  7. Can't help you with the second two but can some on the first two.

It is best to reserve all shows ahead of time. While they do let anyone in without a reservation 10 mins before show time, you will have to stand in a line until then and sometimes not get in. The comedy show has the least amount of seating so definitely book that ahead of time if you think you want to go. If you end up not going to a show it really isn't a big deal as others who didn't book ahead will have a chance to take your spots.

If you are very particular about what time you want to eat at a specialty restaurant then you should book ahead. However they leave a certain amount of reservations open for those who wish to book onboard so we have never had any issues getting what we need.

As far as I understand from our TA, the dining rooms will operate the same as always until they roll out the dynamic dining. So yes it will be the same menus and same process just with different decor since they already redecorated!

Hope that helps a little at least!

We have been on Oasis only once but the Allure five times so if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  9. I've never seen a CL that offered to get you your drink of choice for 25% off. I've never seen a sign in the CL, for that matter. Is that a recent list?

On our Enchantment cruise in May they had this same menu and when I asked about getting something not on the menu for 25% off! they happily went out to the Viking crown and brought it to me. I double checked the receipt when they brought it as I was curious if they actually gave me the discount and they did! I would have bought it anyways cause I just started drinking wine and am still kind of picky about what I drink! :)

  10. We have stayed in both, however we talk all the time about really enjoying the grand suite so much more than the crown loft. We felt like we had more space in the grand suite and enjoyed the balcony more as it was longer. The Crown lofts balcony is very deep and was hard to sit and enjoy the ocean even with our chairs pulled all the way up.

Obviously we are the exception from the other posts here, but we would keep the grand suite without a second thought!

  11. Food from the first night in Chops - the day they started the new menu.

Prettier bacon - the one that hooked me. I won't go to Chops without getting this no matter what else I order.

My Petit Filet, before I decided to be more daring and try something new the next time.

The plated tater tots before they had the new little crocks to serve them in.

The new cookies for dessert. I have no idea what they taste like but they look good to me.

Thank you for posting these and the menu!

It all looks good right now and I can't wait to try it. One question, what is the little sauce they serve with the tator tots?
