Thanks .We will only miss the Eclipse part as we have been to all these ports more than once which when we discussed what we would be paying for a outside handicap EE category ,it made us think it was too much to pay & no balcony ;as this ship requires booking suites to get a balcony Many people have yet to experience many Mexican Riviera ports & many are really wonderful to experience .

We are more cautious considering the condition of the national debt ,so instead of cruises we are adding more precious metals to our portfolio . Seems to me that is the wise thing to do with escalating prices for every thing . With 70% of our population living from pay check to pay check what truly does the future hold for our country ? We did book it in December; but we canceled it just recently .The booking was for 14 night Zaandam Mexico Eclipse .We just can't see $5600 for a outside cabin deck 3 .HAL is refunding $200 deposit for 2 of us

Emirates has money to burn & no doubt will cater to their kind with regards to customs ,good ie . The Branson thing was space not the cruise line as I recall .Imo .the smaller independent like a Viking will weather the storm better than the major players . It doesn't take thousands to fill viking ocean ships & remember they are very strong in the river cruise business .Oceana also comes to mind

How do the major cruise lines afford new ships with the huge debt they must service? Additionally, as the Federal Reserve raises interest rates to fight inflation that places another huge strain on the cruise lines free cash flow .Not good news for the cruise lines .Just the facts

Take it while you can . We now will only look at HAL cruises closer to sail dates to see what cabins are available & at what prices . We live in a senior area near the beach in San Diego with lots of recreation with eating out periodically it is as close to a vacation as we can get with out the driving .Our weather cooperates most of the year

The cruise lines are hyping bookings during the wave sales period .The real question will be at accelerated price increases where will the booking numbers come in at for succeeding quarters

Seems like a good deal for you .How long & how many casino deals will not impact the corporate bottom line is the question ? These promos can not last forever . We do not see a really bright future for cruise line stocks

yup Carnival stock down again in early trading April 4,2023 .shares now at $9.86 .Analysts are leery about CCL

and people lie as well . Do you really believe every thing you hear on TV? Hotel rates have increased but 64% .Even i'if " that were true ,how long would that last .Can employers give gigantic raises to compensate ? LOL . The only possibility will be for a very short term. Corporate hotel rates & even there the corporate world must save cash, especially now Many corporations are laying off thousands of employees& the US is headed into a deep recession or worse .

You have misquoted me . We can not cruise on Celebrity because we no longer fly .Celebrity very rarely has a ship locally ,I mean rarely .The Soltice being in LA was because covid was in Hong Kong .After Alaska repo that ship ,Soltice is gone for ever from LA Since we live 28 miles to the San Diego cruise port & don't fly .It is Holland America that sails regularly from our home port of SD .Hope this helps you to understand

Yes absolutely correct . HAL leaves off the Advantage Fares(refundable deposit fares ) ;but we see them with refundable deposits on a TA web site

How many FCCs did they cash in to get those numbers. Also wave season just ended .Now they have 3 more quarters to contend .All these things plus very high consumer debt has to take a toll .There is no magic wand in the cruise business

CCL stock is not going gangbusters ,still under $10 per share .To me that projects that all things are not that rosy

That is why we did not jump at the booking .Best to book close in to a cruise date if you are already on a HAL ship for the extra OBC & the use of buying 2 FCCs while there at the new cruise booking desk

We will look at the 7 night cruise if what we need is avaible when we are on Koningsdam for the Jan 30 ,2024 Hawaii cruise .Perhaps we can then steal one of those close to the cruise date at a much lower cost ,if they have any decent cabin selection remaining

The magic question is how many people & for how long can people continue to afford vacations at such higher rates .when I was actively marketing 25 years ago I could tell you exactly the duration .Higher airfares means most people except those close enough to drive to the cruise ports have to fly & today need to rake a hotel more likely now for 2 nights because of air delays & or cancellations .so candidly even a family with a income of $100,000 will have it hard to justify these higher & higher costs .The necessities must come first PS add vacation insurance & port spending to the above

No we do not get a casino discount on HAL .

That means a 55% increase over 2019 prices .Even inflation is no where close to that kind of increase .How many people can afford to take multiple cruises at a 55% increase ?

We were speaking to HAL today ,With regards to a March 23 ,2024 Mexican Riviera cruise on koningsdam .Shocked to learn that a refundable deposit on a VH cat handicap with Club Orange for upgrade was $2988 for 2 refundable deposit cruise fares .The Club Orange added a total of $350 to the over all cost . Port taxes are $135 per pax included in the dare above. No on board credit In 2019 that cruise would have been about $1700 for 2 people .Taking off Club Orange at $25 per day per person ,the fare comes down to $2638 . $ 938,00 more than we once paid.That is a rather substantial increase in a cruise fare
