  1. Thanks Thank you Zelker ,a train is do able .Personally ,I would fly but my DW has a ear problem which could be dangerous in a plane flight . A 53 day cruise we never did before . Wonder if the newer HIA had the gratuities included for early booking .We will call HAL tomorrow
  2. The dive in is also a very good choice as a alternate to the Lido
  3. We love the Pizza & sand which on the deck over looking the pool , /We has lunch there more than once Glad to hear that it is open on embarkation day ,a good place to go after dropping off luggage😀
  4. Wondering id HAL ever had or could have a round trip cruise to Japan from a California port
  5. Yes that order really hurt the crab industry .Yes HAL needs more workers on their ships for sure
  6. Being friendly with all the crew come natural to us & they in turn reciprecate
  7. Yes when you live in cold country Alaska would definitely be on the back burner. The Caribbean,Mexico or Hawaii would sound much better . We just saw a ad for January at the Oahu Hilton Hawaiian Village room rate was $251 for Hilton honor members & about $ 7 more for non members . imo that is a terrific deal .This is truly a resort property with a lot to offer . Then add food & flights . I would do this in a geart best than be on the old Norwegian ship that goes island to island .Oahu is the culture center of the Hawaiian islands where there are tons of things to see & do HAL has the 18 day cruise which over nights on Honolulu which also gives time to see things like the Polynesian Cultural Center , Bishop museum ,Iolani Palace ,Pearl Harbor Memorial along with the battle ship Missouri where WW2 was ended in the Pacific .That 18 day cruise goes ot Kauai, Honolulu on Oahu , Lahania on Maui (tender port) , Kona (tender port ) & Hilo ,a deep sea port .Aloha land😃
  8. That is incredible to get such a casino offer .
  9. Thanks one & all for your your comments ,Well appreciated😀
  10. Ah that us interesting you brought the Dutch Cafe into the picture . We have never had any food there just coffee & it was very good. Thanks for that add on .
  11. Back in December we dined lunch in Pinnacle & Dinners in Canaletto & Tamarind . Pinnacle was ok but not fantastic ,Out of all 3 we felt that Canaletto was the best . Tamarind was just passable not as good as we had on Eurodam, several years back We are booked on a 18 night & 14 night cruises on Koningsdam ,so we will appreciate your opinions TIA
  12. We can understand the frustration in boarding at Canada Place .When we did go on our 5 Alaska cruises we never experienced those difficulties .Yet U can understand as we have run into boarding problems else where . Seems post pandemic it is worse now ,full ships & longer lines
  13. Thanks for all your replies which are very helpful
  14. Wondering if HAL is offering the HIA plan including the ppd gratuities on Koningsdam for Hawaii cruises ? Does any one know if this is the case ? TIA
  15. Wow that is incredibly high . No doubt she needed it but they could lower that price & still make out really well
  16. Thanks for the video update post dry dock . Happy to read that those tattered Lifo chairs were reupholstered . They were very obviously worn on our Dec 2022 cruises
  17. The only area we must cover is medical evacuation . We have world wide medical The Chase Sapphire CC covers as you know the cruise cancellation , cruise interruption & baggage . We have checked all over the internet & so far No company is selling medical evacuation as a stand alone . We did look at Allianz for just their med vac insurance but it ,medical for $20 k each ,med vac $100 K each &$1000 each baggage & $200 each baggage delay for one full year at a cost of $276 total . There is also $600 each travel delay ,$45000 rental car damage & theft,$ 25000 each travel accident insurance per person . 24 hour hotline & Concierge included & Epidemic Coverage Endorsement is also included .This is the total package from Allianz Our quote in writing cost for one full year of insurance ,at our ages of 83 & 84 .is $276 . No doubt younger people will pay less imo the above Allianz & the Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit card used to booking any travel is all one should need
  18. There are many other good options to travel it is not just cruises . We own so many Marriott & Hilton Honor hotel points we could stay close in to Balboa Park ,here in San Diego ,see the Zoo ( never gets old) & on each Tuesdays we have a selection of free entry to the museums in Balboa Park . There is the Gas Lamp district , Little Italy ,Old Town , Sea Port Village ,Hotel Del Coronado ,Sea World , major league baseball at Petco Park ,the San Diego Padres & live plays That alone could keep us busy for months .We just do not want to drive far to see these attractions .Thus ,free hotel stays for couple of days at a time . We do have great weather here Cruises are nice but there are other options .We done many cruises when imo the industry gave us much better value .I call it the golden days of cruising We are not against cruises or any cruise line but there are better choices . We are now too old to fly to far off destinations but ,we have been there is the past & got through our bucket list .Now it is your turn
  19. yes there is not much we have not delved into ,even to the point all we need is medical evacuation insurance & found a company who is looking into developing a stand alone policy on med vac
  20. We have the Chase Sapphire preferred credit card . We did cancel a 14 night cruise on Zaandam .Still have a 18 day cruise booked
  21. We certainly hope for improvements because we so nor want to be on a 18 day cruise ,spend over $6000 & not enjoy the cruise . Additionally ,to insure such a trip when you are our ages is up there as well . We must treat all trips in a business like manner
