  1. Every time I've been to Nassau, there has been free Wifi inside the "terminal" at the pier. You will see all the crew members huddled up on the left side checking email and Skyping. It's worked for me every time. I also got some free wifi to work in that building at the other side of the building, but it was hit or miss.

I've used the wifi in the terminal also.

I remember getting off the ship once and someone next to me looked at everyone sitting there with their laptops, and exclaimed loudly "Why would they come on vacation and just sit her on the internet??" I said "Pretty sure those are crew members, contacting their families". :)

  2. The protection actually is on the fare itself, but if the difference is low, and the taxes have gone up, then they won't do it, because when you pricematch, they also change your taxes to what they are right then.

i.e. I once price matched and it was $40/pp less. Unfortunately, at that time, the taxes went up $34. I did indeed get a discount of $6/pp, but truly that wasn't even worth my time - LOL! I also once tried a $10/pp discount, but taxes had gone up $12/pp, so they didn't do it. (I would have owed them $2).

  3. I cannot wait to read your adventures!

I had been following along your Ecstatic Ecstacy adventures when, understandably, things got a little busy with your trees, and everything that came with that, so I'm thrilled to be able to catch more adventures, right from the beginning!

And even greater, is the fact that I just got off the Divina yesterday :) Mind you, it was only 2 nights, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Different than Carnival and RCCL, but wonderful nonetheless.

Looking forward to reading the JW & Jerome Shenanigans :)

  4. Hey, what's the worst that can happen and is it worth giving up trying a new experience?

LOL! OH, I have no qualms about anything negative happening with the cruise itself. It's having different personalities with me (DH, parents, kids)with me being "in charge", and not knowing what I'm doing. When there is excitement in the air, and then confusion, things can get, let's say, less than vacation-y.

So, the more I know about where to go and what to do to start with, the better. Once my feet touch the boat, I'm not in charge anymore :)

  5. Carnival allows copies of birth certificates to be used on closed loop cruises, that depart and end in the same US port.

So an alternate approach would have been to make a good color photocopy of the BC and sail with that.

    http://www.carnival.com/Core/FAQ.aspx?faq=travel+documentation#q-1394828

That information is definitely good to know for future! I had no ideas that copies would be allowed. Thank you!

  6. Nope. I'm US with a US card and have used it the same way as you described above. Give them my card number, buy whatever I want on board, get a bill at the end of the cruise. Hard to believe it doesn't work this way on the Divina.

    I know...

I'm very interested in trying a new cruiseline (new to me), but not knowing what might be different is giving me angst! LOL! I like knowing exactly what to do and exactly where to go on Carnival & RCCL.

  7. Yes,but this is the best way to buy vouchers. Prebook, so you avoid the 15% service charge but pay via your onboard account. This counts as onboard spend and evry $200 onboard spend equals a MSC Club loyalty point (as does each night spent onboard). So of you enjoy your MSC cruise and want to book with them Gain, join the club and start earning discounts and other benefits.

Good information to know!! thank you so much!

  8. As it stands, DH is booked with my daughter in a double cabin, and I am booked with her friend (both are 11 years old).

I plan to have the girls keep all their stuff in one cabin, and DH & I will keep our stuff in the other. (they are not connecting). I will be sleeping on the girls' couch (yes, DH ends up with his own cabin - LOL!)

Will DH/I be able to get an extra room key for the cabin not assigned to us?

Meaning, if the girls are in the cabin with my name on it, I will need a key for DH's cabin. (I'm not worried about the girls needing an extra room key as either I will be with them, or if they need to run to cabin for something, they will be TOGETHER).

I know this can be done on Carnival.

Can someone tell me that they HAVE done this on MSC?

  9. Hello, I know on other cruise lines you do not have to have a passport for a simple Caribbean cruise! When I goto MSC it ask for a passport, and not let me go any futher. Can't I use my certified Birth cert as always? Help me please

yes, I just did my web check in yesterday this way.

If there's a number on the birth certificate, put that in as the passport number. Use last year's birthday as the issue date, and add ten years as the expiration date. (this is what I was told to do).

  10. This is true. We had pre-purchased our drink vouchers, which would have been our biggest expense. ;)

There was a raffle on our cruise, I knew I'd spend $100 on our chances for that, and we planned to go to Eataly for dinner. A few cappuccinos and food from the Sports Bar, and we nearly hit that total.

Funny thing about the drink vouchers - on Carnival, we'd pay for these pre-paid vouchers ahead of time. Online, put in credit card, etc.

For MSC, I went online to do it yesterday, and they say that when we pick them up is when they will be charged to our account. So I find that weird.

I realize this is a different cruiseline than I'm used to, and need to go with the flow :) I'm just trying to think of anything that might be different, ahead of time...

  11. I was told that all voucher pickups are done in the casino.

FTR, some of the bars and lounges will only have two beers on tap, you will quickly learn which have your favorites! That said, the Heineken on tap was so different from what I've had on draft or in bottles here in the US-not the slightest bit skunky.

    Thank you!

We actually reserved the 14 cans/bottles of American beer. I figured we couldn't go wrong with that :)

  12. New to MSC...

I read on the MSC site about check-in procedures. It states that we can register a credit card onboard to use with our room key.

Do we not do this when we check in at the terminal?

It also lists credit cards accepted onboard - does that mean we can pay as we go with credit cards?

I've been on NCL, CCL, RCCL, and we've always added a credit card upon checkin, and used our room key for on-board account. I'm PARTIALLY assuming it's the same on MSC, but that the wording isn't clear. But I never want to completely assume...

Can someone please clear this up for me?

    Thanks so much!

  13. I don't want to get my son accustom to sleeping with me. He then would always ask to sleep with me.

Ah, yes, been there - done that!

Then I'd say keep the beds separate, and if you can bring a rail, or even just line pillows up on one side (at night, push his against the wall/window, in the morning, pull it back. That way you only have one side to worry about falling out of)

  14. You could buy a small pencil case (plastic so water proof) put cards and drinks vouchers you want to use daily in it.

The vouchers are in a booklet so you can just take out a few at a time and leave the rest in the safe.

Thank you - you just jogged my memory that I have little plastic ID pouches that I can put some coupons in, and clip onto my lanyard :)
