Anyone thinking of transferring to the 2/2/20 cruise to 2/23/20 cruise better do it quickly because the 2/23 cruise is already heavily booked.  Good Luck if you want to do a b2b and want the same cabin.

Sorry, but the best answer for now is we don’t know.  The Silhouette has the Revolution dry dock in January 2020.  We really don’t know the extent of changes such as changes to the Sky lounge.  If you believe the Revolution will be good, go for the Silhouette.

Thanks.  Where did you find this information?   Can send a link?  According to the Future cruise people on board the Equinox, both the Jan 24 and Feb 2 sailings still exist.

Does anyone have an updated dry dock schedule for the Silhouette?   We are booked on the Feb 2 2020 sailing on the Silhouette, which was supposed to be the second sailing after the dry dock.  However the Jan 24 and Feb 2 sailings on the Silhouette are currently unavailable due to inventory control.  We didn’t realize this sailing was that close to the dry dock when we scheduled the cruise.  I’m concerned that one or both of theses sailings will be cancelled or perhaps shortened.  This is the first part of a B2B so it would really disrupt our plans.

Any help would be appreciated 

Can someone explain the open dining concept on Azamara?  Is it easy to get a table for two?  Do you need reservations or can you just show up?  Do you normally encounter a long wait?

We are thinking about a cruise on the Journey and I would like to have some idea about the performance of the internet.  Is it available around the ship and in your cabin?  We have sailed on Royal and Celebrity in the last few years and they have made a lot of improvements.  For anyone that has sailed both Azamara and Royal or Celebrity, is the performance on the internet similar?

i was on a 10 day cruise in September and the four of us could never get chairs together. Our answer was to open the door on the deck and sit there.  Celebrity needs to address this situation and than they wouldn’t need to take other areas of the ship away.

 

Why do you think there won’t be chair hogs in the suite only area?

I think they need to wait until the Allure leaves the dock.  It's supposed to leave around 11

There have been a lot of threads about ordering luggage tags on-line and it is not uncommon for people to have problems for on-line ordering.  Sure it works occassionly for some people and it is sometimes difficult for others to find the link to order the luggage tags but it doesn't appear to be worth the hassle to try to order the tags on-line.   Standard practice for me is to call the Captain's Club Rep and ask them to send the tags.  I think that's the best path for the OP and others who would like the tags from Celebrity.

The best cruise I ever took was one immediately after a dry dock aboard the Windjammer Polynesia in October 2001. Flying was extra tense as the events of 9/11 happened only a month before. The ship got a new and substantially lighter engine, so it was leaning the whole trip (until they could figure out ways to rebalance it). There would be a constant pool of water at one end of the shower that could never make it to the drain. One evening the entire ship lost power because a plastic bag somehow found its way into the fuel line and clogged it. The only lights that night were from the emergency lights on the mast. Dinner was delayed until they figured out how to get power back. Only a few toilets flushed during parts of the cruise. They had to turn off all hot water because the new engine was overheating it (virtually to steam). 

 

We had a blast! We brought our pillows out and slept on deck. Drinks were free. It certainly made for great conversation! And we all got a free replacement cruise to boot.

 

Granted, Windjammer passengers are a different breed from Celebrity cruisers, but the lesson I learned is that it's all in what you make it. As long as they still plan to sail the Summit in March, we'll be there.

I'm glad you were able to make lemonade but I would have thought you could have found another ship with a similar itinerary.  Perhaps not if you really wanted the Windjammer experience.

You come to the right place if you want opinions 😉  None of the cruise lines are like they were 20 years ago, I'm sure you've seen that on Princess.  To get larger than a balcony cabin on Celebrity you'll need to move to a suite.  But you'll probably find the stand balcony cabins adequate.  I think you'll like the anytime dining.  No problem getting tables for two and the wait usually isn't too bad but I would suggest making reservations (even if you switch them on-board).  Concierge usually doesn't provide much of an advantage except slightly better cabin locations.  Aqua is unique with a dedicated dining room.  many now book with perks and select the unlimited drink benefit.   Find a discounted cruise and give celebrity a try.

As I've been thinking about this, why would anyone want to take the risk with problems from unfinished updates or modifications?  Are the prices that much better?  I guess I haven't seen any huge discounts to warrant the risk.  In my case we booked a B2B in February before we realized it was close to the upgrade and the Silhouette had the best itineraries. It isn't until 2020 and if it looks like they are having problems we'll cancel.

I'll be really impressed if they can keep to the schedule.   Replacing all of the rooms would be a huge job.  They must have an army scheduled to work 24/7 during the upgrade.  We are scheduled on the second cruise after the drydock on the Silhouette in 2020.  Hopefully we should have a good idea about how well they can keep to the schedule.

We have taxied it to the pier, which was great the first time and poor the second (never showed).  The doorman took pity on us after awhile and drove us to the pier on the shuttle bus by ourselves - I think it cost $7 or $8 each.

Did you ask the hotel or doorman to call the taxi?  If so, they probably didn’t call just to get you on the shuttle.  You need to make your own call for the taxi.  Kickbacks to the hotel and doorman are common to generate more business.  Uber or taxis will always be cheaper and more convenient transportation options around the airport and port.  Perhaps the equation changes if you are staying farther from the port.

The Hyatt Place on 17th May be the best place for you, but don’t fall for the shuttle scam in these areas.  If there are two people that would be $18 and you could easily due Uber and probably a taxi without waiting for a shuttle.  The same advice applies for the ride to the port from the hotel.  Uber or a taxi will be quicker and cheaper without the hassle of waiting for the shuttle. Uber or taxi are even cheaper if you have more than two.  As far as the sofa bed is concerned, it’s as good or bad as any other sofa bed.  There isn’t any magic to make the sofa bed better at the Hyatt or on the ship.  Also check your bill in the morning at the Hyatt for shuttle charges or overnight parking.  It’s been my experience that they routinely add the charges even if you don’t park or use the shuttle.

Wow!!!  Still way too expensive for me to book a C3 balcony for 11 days on any ship for any destination

Will you be using an international data and calling plan to access the Uber app and allow the driver to call you?  If not I'd probably stick with a taxi.

I think they are just trying to weasel out of the question.  You would hope Celebrity would be proactive and follow Royal's lead and prohibit support animals before they become a bigger problem.

Royal has banned the emotional support animals from cruises but has grandfathered requests made before August 2018.  Did we ever get a clarification if this also applied to Celebrity ships?

Do you have any updates?  

After final payment, the most important thing is to stop worrying about the price and enjoy your cruise.  At final payment you are really saying this is a good deal for you.  I agree that you should always try to get an upgrade if possible, but don't forget to enjoy yourself.

I would try calling Celebrity directly (and perhaps a second time if you already called).  You may need to talk to a supervisor.  I'm not sure about the date but I see a couple of cabins on deck 6 and 7 that would work for Aug 17 on the Equinox.  I would stick to cabins on the starboard side to avoid being above smoking areas.  I think the issue that you have is the connecting cabins for 2 connect to cabins for 3 or 4.  First do a mock booking for 2 in a cabin and see what cabins are available.  The for 3 or 4 in a cabin.  I think you will find a number of combinations that will work for you.  Then call Celebrity and tell them exactly what you need.  I think they will agree.   I've also had good luck with the big box TAs doing this for me.
