  1. I wish I had got my updated Freedom cruise, I'm still showing Navigator!! And i got an email confirmation for navigator yesterday. It's frustrating talking to anyone at Royal as I keep being given differing dates for the transfer.

Hope I get to go on Freedom.

I heard about 20 minutes ago from my nieces that their Mother passed away last night just before midnight.  She went to be with those babies I'm betting.  The girls were notified ahead of time and made it to the hospice in time to be with her.

My DS is finally at peace and with her loved ones in heaven.

So sorry to hear this, hope memories of your visit last week bring you comfort 🙏

  4. We got switched to Odyssey for our October cruise also. As its the only class I haven't been on yet I'm not complaining! As its a new ship should not be an issue with cabin assignment.

My other two cruises this year also have ship changes so hopefully those will also work out OK as I had chosen cabins in a specific area on those also.

.  By the time I left for the airport Nancy was dozing off and unable to keep her eyes open long.  She started declining Saturday night.  I'm keeping that morning in my heart.  I don't expect her to last much longer.  It would be a miracle if she did.

This is such a difficult time for you, I'm so glad you were able to enjoy the visit with her and have such great memories.🙏

  6. Thanks for the daily,

Happy to celebrate turtle day, its nesting season here in South Florida and it looks like there was another nest made last night on the beach. Waiting for "turtle man" to do his morning rounds and inspect it. If it is a nest it will be cordoned off so no beach beds or walkers disturb it. So far there are 3 nests I can see from my balcony this season.

The county park system has a program where you can sign up and watch the babies being released, we try to do it every year. These are from nests that have to be relocated for safety. It is so hard watching the hatchlings as they struggle to  go to the ocean, but they cannot be helped due to state regulations.

THANK YOU ALL, it helps enormously that I have this thread "diversion" and a semblance of "normality" (Covid normality, that is...).

Hi Dani, you seem to be holding up well considering the events. I don't know if you are aware but you are also on the prayer list on the Holland America "daily " thread for the last few days.

Keep hanging in there and please keep us up to date as much as you can.

    Today started "routine" ....

We just finished preparing for the night our shelter room, which was full of toys, old baby carriers and other grandkids' "paraphernalia"... Hoping no sirens will sound during the night -- I'm too old for this😢

Hoping for a safe and peaceful night for you.

Watching the first episode of season three, Island of Bryan.  It so makes me miss the Caribbean.

The previous  episodes  were titled Renovation  Island here in US.

Hopefully  it will be broadcast  here soon. I've  been  watching  all Brian's series   since I caught  some episodes  of Disaster  DIY   when I  was  vacationing  in Canada  years  ago. He is very entertaining!

A note on Port Canaveral. It was interesting to see this pop up this morning. When I started the port selection, I grabbed a list from the HAL website where you could select a port of call you wanted to visit. While HAL used Port Canaveral for embarkation sometime in the early 2000's, that has not been the case in a long time. Port Canaveral shows up as a port of call for one cruise, a relocation from Montreal to Fort Lauderdale Oct 8, 2022-Oct 22, 2022.

With all the options between Boston and Fort Lauderdale, why stop at Port Canaveral?

On the last "Snowbird Migration" cruise i did from Quebec to FLL we also stopped in Port Canaveral. At least 30% of the cruisers disembarked to return home. Very convenient for central, Florida residents (many were from The Villages) travelling for the Winter season.

Here is my best, repeatable Awkward Moment Day story:

Several years ago, Hudson’s Bay Company had a terrific luggage sale right after we booked a 28 Asian cruise on the Volendam. We got an amazing deal on a full matching set each. As DH was paying for it, I stepped back from the counter to give him more space. I stepped backwards directly into a mannequin displaying very elegant men’s smart casual attire. It rocked backward. In an attempt to limit the disaster, I grabbed it by the upper arms before it could topple into the neatly arranged luggage display behind it. I jerked the mannequin back into its original position and was very pleased with my narrow escape.
As I stood there with my nose against its chest, still tightly gripping the arms, it slowly dawned on me that the arms were much softer than the sweater under my fingers could account for. I looked up into the frozen, shocked gaze of the tall young man I had just attacked. To the day they closed, I could never pass that particular store without wincing.

I could not stop laughing 🤣 at this. Thanks for brightening my afternoon.

I think rather than a post about Kota Kinabalu I'll link to my blog post for the day.  For the sailaway addicts, there is a unique substitution for the white pickup truck:

Up here in the land of Maple Syrup we have something we sip as well called Cabot Trail.  IMO bottle chilled in the fridge, and then poured into many shot glasses is best. 😉 Others add it to hot chocolate etc... We love our maple syrup up here.

Picked up a couple of bottles last time i was in lake Louise, sadly finished it already. It's also great over vanilla ice cream. Looking forward to picking some up next year ( would prefer to visit this year, but I'm being realistic).
