For those curious about Canadians in the states they can fly, but they can not drive across the border unless they are essential workers such as in health care, police, truck drivers etc.

There are some that have figured ways around this law, and others happy to take their money to do it. They have their car transported across the border and then fly the short hop to the nearest airport to where their car is waiting for them. They then get in their car and drive south. I’m sure others ship their car all the way to Florida and then fly all the way.

Thanks for the information, makes sense as a way around regulations. However it's not the best thing to do, especially as many of them are older and may not have much support if they need healthcare in US.

Looking forward to next year and the ability to visit my favorite place the Canadian Rockies.

Hope you have a great Christmas 🎄☃️

With the luggage allowance on the plane back to England Pauline buys around 10 dresses from Dress Barn or Ross plus we both buy lots of Ralph Lauren gear in the outlets so no room for a Denny's coffee mug.

    Graham.

They bring me 2 bottles of rhubarb ginger gin so they do have some "free" weight to use!!

How did Quebec get past the border?

I don't know, but I've seen several on the roads this week. I've been driving my husband to doctor appointments so I've been out more than usual and noticed the plates. My next door neighbor  is a partial year resident from Quebec (originally from Israel) and is now selling. They flew down last month to set up the condo for sale and were driving their car (that had FL tags and was here year round) back. They said they were going to quarantine when they got to Canada. I will miss them as they were great neighbors.

Making the drive to Florida to a house we have rented.  It looks like we are part of a mass migration, with all the NY, PA, and OH plates.  At least it is a beautiful day for a drive.

Looks like we still have a ways to go.

Went to Publix today for a couple of last minute items. Many out of state license plates around, even saw 2 from Quebec. Definitely lots of people have travelled to South Florida for the holidays.

Why is this happening?  At one time cruise ships carried 200 - 1200 passengers.  Now, 3000 to 6000 are on some ships with even larger vessels on the drawing boards.  200 o  "Over tourism" has become a well known term and cruise ships are the easiest target to help cure that problem.

I am fortunate to live in s Florida and have spent many weekends and mid week breaks in Key West in the past, I have to agree that in recent years the vibe has completely changed during the days when cruise ships are in.  Multiple T shirt shops and DI were not a great addition to Key West.

I also noted that many of the Alaska ports were loosing their "specialness" on my last trip there, a big change from my earlier visits in the late 80's. when I lived on the west coast.

It's great that travel and experiencing new adventures are now so readily available, but inevitably overcrowding is going to change the experience.

This pool area right here is one of the "happening" party areas during the day. One of the type of places that judges your appearance and dress before even letting you in... I could never get in here...

Update: I'm about to blow probably close to a hundred bucks on two drinks and an appetizer...

    Another reason i love cruising!!!

  7. Hey Sid,

I'm sure you have every hour planned  Miami Beach but in these Covid times things are  different, its great to be able to get parking but the vibe is just not the same.

I like going to Happy hour on Espanola Way for Mojitos and Cuban food

    Try this .   https://www.havana1957.com/espanola-way/menu/espanola-way-happy-hour-menu-new/

Friendly staff and interesting people watching usually.

    Enjoy your trip!!!

  8. It seems that there are so many colonoscopis being  done  at the moment, trying  to  clear  the backlog  I guess. My husband  and  2 cousins  had them done in the last 2 weeks and all needed Covid  testing  prior to procedures. This was both for hospitals  and a free standing  surgical center in South  Florida .

Good luck  Roy and best wishes  for a great result.

    Mary

PS, I  enjoy  this daily  update, looking  forward  to  cruising  again.
