  1. Update — baby Jalen and Mom cleared to go home. Lung and glucose tests (for Mom) all ok. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes. Katherine
  2. Happy Labor Day to all. Continued prayers for Baby Murphy and her family and praying for a miracle. Great grandson born on 9/2. (Wait — I can’t be that old — but we started at 19 and 20!). There are some lung issues and “Jalen Alexander” and his mother will be in the hospital at least until tomorrow. Doctors say all will be well. Too hot to be walking outside for the next several days. Plus we have the convicted murderer escapee in the area. He has been spotted not real close but close enough. State police say to keep cars and all doors locked. I will follow their advise! Best wishes for a safe and peaceful day to all. Katherine
  3. Added prayers for Baby Murphy. Such sad news. But God can perform outstanding miracles. We must keep the faith for her and her family.
  4. Good morning all. Prayers for those in the path of the hurricane. FYI - Royal changed the itinerary for their Vision ship that left on Saturday. No Bermuda - Coco Cay and Nassau instead. It’s that time of the year. Regarding Henry Hudson - Hudson being my maiden name - I used to tell my students, jokingly, that Henry was my great, great etc. grandpa. I would show my drivers license with my maiden name to “prove” my point. By the end of the explorers unit they would all get the joke. Some would write “grandpa” as on answer on a quiz or test. I remember my teaching days fondly. Weather here today is only in the 80’s. Gave a great day. Katherine
  5. Thank you to all who continue to keep this thread going. It is a wonderful place to visit. Prayers for all in need. Thank you, JazzyV, for mentioning our return home yesterday. The trip was great and Vision of the Seas, though an older ship, is in great shape. Hardest part of a cruise now is getting DH onto the ship and onto his scooter waiting in the cabin. Then all is good. Today will be spent unpacking and getting ready for repacking for Greenland trip. Weather is much more moderate today - yay! Hope it continues. Best wishes for a great day. Katherine
  6. Just to try to get folks feeling better if disappointed. Just got off Vision today. Ship is well maintained and staff was fabulous. IMHO — you will still have a nice cruise even though destination has changed. Katherine
  7. Suites and Pinnacles. Think that is pretty standard across the fleet now. I agree we were in Coco with Enchantment. By the way — am hearing that EN is being totally gutted during her next drydock. That is according to a crew member. She does need some major updating.
  8. There lot of shops. Mostly small selling the usual stuff at a caribbean port. A few larger shops that are air conditioned. In my opinion they did a good job and a big improvement from what was there.
  9. Thank you Graham. We have been to Coco before and I agree it is lovely. But after exploring the new port area in Nassau yesterday I don’t feel like going on another long, hot walk. I have to say your meals always look scrumptious! Maybe you and Pauline would consider second careers as cruise ship chefs??
  10. Prayers to all in need—especially the residents of Lahaina. May God keep them and bless them. Sitting in Chops restaurant for breakfast as we pull into Coco Cay for the day. Not sure I am getting off the ship. Way too hot for me. The 2 sea days before home. Stay safe everyone. Katherine
  11. Thank you for the good wishes everyone. Whew!! Getting everything in the car is getting to be more and more of a task. But now ready to enjoy. Next stop — Bermuda! Prayers for all in need. So glad to hear more positive news about Baby Murphy. Katherine
  12. So sorry to hear this. Prayers that all will be well. Katherine
  13. So sorry to hear this, Roy. Losing power is never fun. Katherine
  14. Yes — long, live the Mets. (I grew up in central Jersey — so it was either the Yankees or the Mets.) My twin started following them (and keeping a scoring book for each game) in 1962 — their birth year. Very sorry about how the year has gone but there is always next year. 😀. I wish the Orioles well. Katherine
  15. This cartoon reminds of a formal, beaded jacket I bought once for formal nights. Directions - do not wash or dry clean!
  16. Good morning to everyone. Prayers for all in need. Praying that the needs list will decrease and for positive news about baby Murphy. Weather continues to be somewhat moderate here in PA and I can get more walking in. There was a few weeks there that little walking was done by me — I am not a hot weather person! DH continues with his therapy with mixed results. But he keeps chugging along. We would like to see him a bit more mobile for our next two cruises coming up - 8/17 to Bermuda and Bahamas and 9/14 to Canada and Greenland. Fingers crossed. Off to church and then home to watch baseball (Roy — Baltimore’s Orioles are killing us!). DS making marinated pork chops and stuffing for dinner. I’ve probably mentioned that DS (twin) lives across the street (30 second or less walk). She (Karen) likes cooking a lot more than I do and sometimes I feel like I have a personal chef! Have a great day and stay safe. Katherine
  17. Good morning. Prayers for all in need. Special prayers for baby Murphy. Should be a beautiful day here in PA. I am back to my walking regime now that the temperatures have eased up. Hoping that temperatures will ease up in the parts of our country that still have not had some relief. Girlfriends Day — I like it! I am fortunate to have a close knit group of friends for the past 30 or so years. All former teachers and we have other’s back. I appreciate all of them. Best wishes for a great day. Katherine
  18. Good morning everyone. Nicer weather and I already got in a 2 mile walk. DS making fajitas for our dinner today (I will use my low carb tortillas!). DD coming to visit as well. Thanks to all who contribute to this thread. Roy — any trips planned for your home port of Baltimore? I have a few planned. I want to get a look at Vision of the Seas. Katherine
  19. Good morning. Good to see a ship going to Bar Harbor. One of my favorite ports and am hearing that the town is looking at either restricting or not allowing ships any more. That would be a shame. I should be on a ship in October stopping there. Hope it’s not the last time I am able to visit. Very hot here — like the rest of the country. Speaking of Maine — DS making lobster rolls for dinner today! Prayers for all in need. Best wishes to all. Katherine
  20. That’s too bad about your experience. We have sailed Vision class (Grandeur and Enchantment) quite frequently out of Baltimore. Yes, no bells and whistles but suits our purpose of a close port due to DH’s mobility issues. DS was on Vision of the Seas last month and said she was in great shape. I will find out myself next month. Katherine
  21. Good morning. Prayers for all in need—especially Baby Murphy. Today includes cleaning people and therapist coming to our home. Temperatures high. I think I may tackle another closet today or at least a drawer. Best wishes and have a great day. Katherine
  22. Thanks for the information. My sister was trying for a solo on a cruise that was listed as available to her. Who knows?? Things seem to be changing rapidly.
