  1. OK, I have read about Yacht Club and we are interested. I have some info from the boards but is there a bullet point list somewhere about what it includes and does not include??

  2. It looks like I have to throw almost everything I know about cruising out the window!

I see posts here about an all you can drink thing and the different "experiences". When I go to book will the travel agent go over all this stuff with me? I've got a quote out on ************* and the bids aren't saying anything about it.

Is MSC like Carnival, etc in that agents can't discount the prices so they will all be about the same?

Do you have to pay for the whole cruise at once or can you pay in payments?

    Thanks!

Moon,,,I'm not sure who you are booking through, but if you were to call MSC directly and speak with a personal vacation consultant,,they would be able to go through all of the experience packages with you. We don't use Travel Agents and only book through MSC so I can't tell you wether or not a cruise rate can be discounted by a travel agent or not. MSC's standard deposit in the U.S. is $100.00 pp per stateroom and you have up until 75 days prior to your sailing date to pay the balance. If you do book through MSC,,they are a bit more lenient with the payment due date and you can usually request for an extension.

  3. Ok thanks for the tip on La Concha - is there a certain type of room that is in the new part of the hotel?

Yes Camaro,,,most if not all the rooms are suites,,,so let them know that you would like a room in the suite tower and that will be the newest part of the hotel.

  4. next summer. Does anyone know which ship will be replacing it in the Caribbean? Is there a new ship coming in the Spring of 2015? Just curious..

    Camelia

Camelia,,,,I believe the earliest you may see a new MSC ship will be in November 2017. I'm not sure if they've even begun cutting steel yet for either the Vista or The Seaside projects. Divina will leave in the spring and then return in the fall (November) of 2015.:)

  5. Perhaps it is on a swivel bracket. Someone might be able to answer this one for you.

The tv's are free standing and not mounted in any way so they can be moved to face different directions. However, the tv in the bedroom of some suites may be mounted on the wall like ours was and this one can not be moved.

  6. Appreciate the reply, Mike and thanks also for all the info you've shared regarding MSC over various threads. We've learned a lot about MSC and Divina from you and are looking forward to being on her for the first time next week!

    John

It's good to know some of the information I shared has helped others and I truly appreciate the kind gesture John!!:D Have a great trip and let us know if you tried the app and what your experiences were with it. We have a 19 day TA coming up in October 2015 and we'll have our 15 year old daughter with us so we'll want her to check in with us, so the Divina App hopefully will allow us to do that.:)

  7. Mike, have a question, is the Garden Infinity Pool & Bar open to the non YC passengers. Big debate on our Oct 4th roll call. Thanks Stormy Should add this will be embarkation day.

Stormy,,,The Garden Pool,,Zen Pool,,Infinity Pool,,whichever you'd like to call it,,is on deck 15 aft. It is available for all passengers. "The One Pool and Bar" is on deck 18 forward and only available for Yacht Club members.

UPDATE: I just read a few of the posts on your Roll Call Stormy and it appears there is some confusion in regards to The Garden Pool. The woman who was looking at the deck plans must have seen The Le"Muse restaurant near the Garden Pool and assumed since the restaurant is for Yacht Club members, the Garden Pool was as well. That is not the case. Le'Muse was originally designed to be another pay restaurant but it was turned into a dining room for Yacht Club members and it just happened to be near the Garden Pool.

  8. Curious if you had similar success on your recent cruise?

Nacdcruiser,,I completely forgot all about using it. We didn't travel with the kids so we didn't need a way to stay in touch with them,,and we usually left our phones in the stateroom whenever we went out anyway.

  9. Thanks everyone!! Appreciate the info on the spa suites...I do have a suite and a junior suite reserved at La Concha just not sure which one to keep..some reviews say the suites are better others say no, totally understand everyone has their own preferences...thanks again - any other input on rooms or local area would be great!!

We've stayed at LaConcha for a few nights back in March. Loved this hotel!!! Just be sure to request a room in the new part of the hotel.

  10. Yes I did...

Booked a Yacht Club Suite on the Divina. Suite 16005 (forward facing). :) :)

    Miami to Bermuda to Bahamas.....

Now to spend the next 18 months exploring.....

We have a forward facing suite booked on the Norwegian Sun in April. That will be our tail tail sign of if we will like forward facing cabins. We know we do not want a aft facing one.....

Hope to find some good videos of the cabin before we go and will just spend time on the web reading all before I go...

Now I am worried about the deck above and all the chairs being moved....:(

Oh yes you have FireEater!!!! Great Choice I must say!!!! You may hear the deck chairs being moved in the morning however. We were in 16008 and I heard them almost every morning between 7:00am and 8:00am. The noise isn't all that bad and never woke my girlfriend up. I was up at 6:00am each day so that's why I noticed it.

  11. Well they have this special medicine to use pre flight..............it's called ALCOHOL....:D...that's how I do it...............

AUSSIE!!!!!!! You're alive lol!!!!! I heard you were feeling a little under the weather last week. Uggghhh!!! I hope you still managed to have a great time regardless. Looking forward to that review,,,can't wait to hear all about your trip!!!

Yes,,we have a late flight so a lot of alcohol and a late flight should do the trick. You need to do the 3 day in January with us!!! We'll sneak you up to the Yacht Club,,,I mean give you a tour of the Yacht Club,,,forgot MSC reads these boards:eek:

  12. Sorry Mike but I don't think so you love that YC so much it will be hard for you to step down.:)

You're probably right Riclop!!! I guess I have relegated myself to only the "Fantasia", "Vista", and "Seaside" class ships since they will have a Yacht Club. You never know though,,,my girlfriend wants to see Greece so if the itinerary is right, we just might find ourselves on one of the other class of ships. :D

  13. Mike, Guess what? I never had a Nutella crepe! :( Or a Nutella milkshake! I saw one day they were advertising BOGO, but, I slept through it!:mad::mad::mad:

OMG Maureen!!!! You were looking forward to those!!! BTW,,how was your trip??? I read a little of your comments in the Roll Call section and heard Aussie was sick for part of the sailing... Ughhhhhh!!!!! Hope she's ok!!!!

  14. Wow first cruise and going in YC, now you will be like Mike, YC only. Fantastic!!!

It's hard not to book Yacht Club once you've stayed there a couple times Riclop!!! I'm kind of the same way when we go out to dinner at a specific restaurant. I order the same exact thing,,every single time!!! I'll step out on the ledge one of these days though Riclop!!!:D I think when we sail the med hopefully next summer, we'll do it on either a Lirica or Musica class ship,,,,maybe;)

  15. The biggest special I ever saw was like 10% off, the first gala night some drinks were free for like an hour. I had the package, so, didn't pay much attention to prices, but, there was never any buy one get one free that I noticed. I'll check my dailies and update this thread if I find anything.

Correct Maureen. The only "Happy Hour" specials advertised in The Daily's is for The Casino. Example: Join the fun from 1:00pm to 4:00pm! Play Roulette for as little as $0.50; or Blackjack, Easy Stud Poker, Five Card Stud Poker and Extreme Poker for a $3.00 stake. The above example was taken from Sunday's Daily.

The drink special is just a reduced price for the special drink of the day. Example:

Alcoholic Cocktail: Purple Rain $6.25 Non-Alcoholic Cocktail: Dirty Banana Shake $3.75.

  16. Hi Mike,

Sorry you may have been asked this before( having last minute panics, and its only Sun) I know that we are not allowed to take travel irons on board but can we borrow an iron to do some bits and pieces in cabin, or will our butler do them for us if we ask him nicely, or does it all go laundry even if its just for pressing?:)

    Thanks in advance

    Anne.

FLAMOM is correct Anne. When you're in the Yacht Club,,they won't let you carry your own coffee to your stateroom never the less want you ironing your own clothes. There is a great laundry special that they have onboard as well as single item pricing. Also,,,if Mr. Nevergrumpy needs his shoes shined,,,there is a wooden tray along with an MSC Yacht Club show bag in the closet. Just put his shoes in the bag and set them on the tray outside your stateroom door. The butler will pick up his shoes and return them back nice and shiney!!!!:D

  17. probably because they don't know! Not that it's an excuse. In the uk office some have no idea what onboard services and procedures are and some seem to have cruised with them and know how things work.

I find fb messaging the most effective way to get a response but i'm not in the us, i'm dealing with the uk office.

what i will say is the onboard experience is so much better than than the onshore service.

    +1.

  18. Is my experience with Customer Care usual? You both gave reasonable answers to my question. Why didn't the Customer Care person explain how it works?

Joyce,,,I have never called customer care. I use one of 3 different avenues for communication. 1. Call my PVC 2. Private message MSC on Facebook 3. Use MSC's website chat,,,when available,, which is hit or miss sometimes. I sent a lost and found request form to customer care back in May and still haven't received a response from anyone. I've given up on that!!!

  19. I booked my Oct. DIVINA cruise back in February. Received my e-docks and all looked good. Until I noticed we were listed first seating (which we requested) but next to that it said "WAITLISTED".

Let me just say that first seating is important to us.....so I called Customer Care.

I started the conversation by saying how the e-docs arrived and all was good except for the WAITLISTED notation. She never asked my name or for my booking number just stated "if that is what the computer says she can not do anything". I then asked her to explain how we could be WAITLISTED on first seating since we booked way back in February. She again stated if that is what the computer says she can not change it.. I said OK but are you telling me first seating was ALL booked before Feb. her response was, once again "if that is what the computer says I can not change it".

Am I missing something? This is a customer care?? I felt like I was talking to a computer.

I then proceeded to call my TA & was told "that is how MSC works". He said all his paperwork shows first seating. He suggested I see the Matri D when we get on the ship & all should be fine. I'm still worried

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

Joyce,,,our PVC explained the term "Waitlisted" as not having a table or seat number assigned yet for your specified dining time. However,, I have heard others explain it as a Wait List for either early or late dining and once you check in at the terminal, that's when you're ding time will be assigned. So this will be a good question for MSC's Facebook page I think. Either that or hopefully MSC cruises will respond to this thread.

  20. we are traveling with another couple on the Divina in balcony cabins and wondering if the divider between balcony can be opened to allow us to walk throughout?

Yes it can joyce&bob. Just ask your room steward and he/she should be able to unlock it for you.

  21. Question....

On the website you can place a hold on excursions. But, they don't mention a time.

Although DH and I are not picky about food, being treated like royalty by the staff (joking), lack of hairy chest competitions etc....we are picky about excursion times. We don't like "bright an early ".

Can I safely assume that once on board there will be a schedule with assorted times?

If you pre-book your excursions,,you will receive your tickets in your stateroom the night before. You can book on-board,,just go to the excursion desk to find out times and availability.

  22. Any news on your extra points yet?

Did the "computer say NO; or YES"

    Pete

Still waiting Pete!!! I'll have to give them a call or try the online chat. My PVC is off today so I'll give the chat a try,,,it seems to work most of the time.:)
